Jesus should've been born in Year 0.

And today we're beginning the 50th year since the JFK assassination.

And when ancient Romans said "I'll see you in 3 days", they meant the day-after-tomorrow. Today is Day 1, tomorrow is Day 2, and College Football Rivalry Saturday would be Day 3.

Does it matter that subby got the # of years wrong? It was still a senseless and brutal act, perpetrated by a deranged nutball for no good reason. If you don't like the President, you vote him out. You don't kill him. That's not how the system is supposed to work. It's offensive.

Wait....

The JFK assassination delayed the premiere of Dr. Who in 1963
This year is the 50th anniversary of James Bond.
Jame's Bond and Dr. Who are Brittish.
British people like soccer
America is the only country in the world where soccer isn't the most popular sport played
America's pastime is baseball
Fidel Castro was a failed baseball player...in AMERICA

So, Fidel Castro, in a bid to overthrow the American baseball monopoly, convinced the British government to send James Bond to kill JFK, then used Dr Who to send Bond back 1 year in the past to offset the Anniversary connection and hide the real motive for the killing!

I thought he was killed by a gay conspiracy, led by Clay Shaw, that, following a long civil war, would have led to the downfall of the heterosexual and to he end of straight marriage. The Stars and Stripes would be replaced by the Rainbow, and the country would be rechristened "The United Gays of America." Independence day would be switched to November 22, and it would be celebrated every year with super-fabulous Gay Pride parades all over the country.

Everything I've read about Oswald suggests it was in no way related to policy. He had this incredible egotism and desire to be famous, and lo and behold, here comes this huge crime of opportunity when he learns the President's motorcade route will be passing right in front of the building where he happens to be working at the time. It really doesn't have to be any more complicated than that.

Also, for those who haven't read it, Stephen King's book "11/23/63" is actually his best effort in years and worth the read. Your basic time travel / try to save JFK / what would happen type novel.

COWBOY: Sir, he was that guy who shot all those people from that tower in Austin, Texas, sir!

HARTMAN: That's affirmative. Charles Whitman killed twelve people from a twenty-eight-storey observation tower at the University of Texas from distances up to four hundred yards. Anybody know who Lee Harvey Oswald was? Private Snowball?

SNOWBALL: Sir, he shot Kennedy, sir!

HARTMAN: That's right, and do you know how far away he was?

SNOWBALL: Sir, it was pretty far! From that book suppository building, sir!

HARTMAN: All right, knock it off! Two hundred and fifty feet! He was two hundred and fifty feet away and shooting at a moving target. Oswald got off three rounds with an old Italian bolt action rifle in only six seconds and scored two hits, including a head shot! Do any of you people know where these individuals learned to shoot? Private Joker?

JOKER: Sir, in the Marines, sir!

HARTMAN: In the Marines! Outstanding! Those individuals showed what one motivated marine and his rifle can do! And before you ladies leave my island, you will be able to do the same thing!

first i will prefix this statement with "i am not a conspiracy nut" but.
years ago while in Dallas we were downtown and walked over to Dealy plaza.
paid ten bucks for the tour in the old depository.
the window he shot from was blocked off but you could look out the window next to it.
when you look out that window and try to imagine being Oswald for that brief moment you are struck with the the thought that there is no good reason to fire when he did as the car and his target were traveling away at a bad angle. 10 seconds earlier it would have made for a head on shot much closer and the car would be barely moving because of the turn.

so i'm left with the thought of perhaps someone walking by or his gun jamming or he was coordinating with some else.

One year before the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination, events and tributes are already beginning in the Dallas area to commemorate the slain U.S. president and a defining moment in American history.

Highlighted for the slow.

Half a dozen Dallas motorcycle cops and fifteen Secret Service agents were looking right at the Texas School Book Depository ten seconds earlier. I suspect that Oswald felt that it would be prudent to wait before shooting in the interest of not drawing return fire.

I happen to agree; I wasn't asserting that Oswald disagreed with a particular portion of Kennedy's platform or any policy decision he might have made. I don't think we'll ever really know why he did it, aside from speculation, but I don't believe you'd kill the President if you liked him. He may have disliked him in general terms, and not held any one specific thing against him. I don't know. This wasn't a crime of passion/heat of the moment kind of thing. He had to plan to take the gun to work, make a sniper's nest, hide the rifle, flee the scene, then he shot that cop who stopped him......that's a lot of work put into killing a man you're ambivalent toward.

One thing I've always found intriguing is during the press conference at Dallas Police headquarters when the press were asking Oswald questions, one of them asked if he killed the President, and Oswald's response was "I haven't been charged with that." Not that he didn't do it, but that he hadn't been charged with it. It's not a confession or admission of guilt, but it sure as hell isn't an emphatic denial, either.

No shot came from the grassy knoll. If someone fired at the President's head from that direction, it would have passed through his skull and hit Jackie. If you look at their body positions right before the 3rd shot, their heads are nearly touching. If the coup de grace came from the President's right, as opposed to behind him, it would have killed the First Lady as well.

Look at the forensics of the bullet wounds and match them up with the positions both the President and Gov. Connolly were in, inside the car. Connolly's seat was further in and lower. 1st bullet misses the car, 2nd bullet strikes Kennedy in the upper back, exiting through his throat and strikes Connolly in the shoulder. If you draw a line between those entry/exit wounds and then draw it all the way back, it connects to the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository. No 2nd shooter, no magic bullet spinning and twisting and tumbling in mid-air.

jimpapa: first i will prefix this statement with "i am not a conspiracy nut" but.
years ago while in Dallas we were downtown and walked over to Dealy plaza.
paid ten bucks for the tour in the old depository.
the window he shot from was blocked off but you could look out the window next to it.
when you look out that window and try to imagine being Oswald for that brief moment you are struck with the the thought that there is no good reason to fire when he did as the car and his target were traveling away at a bad angle. 10 seconds earlier it would have made for a head on shot much closer and the car would be barely moving because of the turn.

so i'm left with the thought of perhaps someone walking by or his gun jamming or he was coordinating with some else.

I've always thought the same. It would have been a far easier shot.

/Of all the wild conspiracy theories out there this is the only one I don't think is clearly nuts.

Or he just hesitated. I'd imagine a lot of thoughts go through your head before you take a shot at another person, let alone the president in front of half the local police department. Some of those probably are, "do you really want to do this?"

He wanted to have time to flee the scene. There is also the possibility that if there was more than one shooter, Oswald needed to wait until JFK's car entered the predetermined "kill zone" where the other shooters were set up.

I think Oswald was the only one shooting that day, but I am very interested in his motivations and who he may have been working with. Unfortunately, we will probably never know.

Yup... I thought the same thing. You had him coming at you at one point too I believe. Also... Try standing over by where the grassy knoll guy was. THAT shot? Cakewalk. Very odd. Proves nothing but still... Very odd.

A recent investigation showed the first shot, which was never recovered, was blocked by a streetlamp.

Streetlamp.

crazytrain: Coco LaFemme: Does it matter that subby got the # of years wrong? It was still a senseless and brutal act, perpetrated by a deranged nutball for no good reason. If you don't like the President, you vote him out. You don't kill him. That's not how the system is supposed to work. It's offensive.

Odd enough that's what motivated Mark David Chapman. Sometimes crazy is crazy, but some people can't handle the idea of a giant being toppled by a lone nut. They have to write 1000 page books detailing that everyone from the CIA to the Illuminati to the Masons was in on it.

Odd enough Steven King is accused of murdering John Lennon by some persistent stalker.

Time for a csb:

A friend's father was a Secret Service Agent detailed to LBJ in Dallas that day.

He was at Parkland Hospital and said the one thing that he couldn't get out of his head was the squishy sound made by Mrs Kennedy's shoes when she was walking. They were filled with blood.

2012-11-22 07:03:07 PM
LBJ had Kennedy killed because he wasn't going to allow a ramp up of US troops in SE Asia. Johnson wanted a war for profit reasons. When I got to the Nam in 68 and saw all those Sea Land container ships in Cam Ranh Bay that I later learned were partially owned by Lady Bird Johnson, things started to fall into place.

SNOWBALL: Sir, he shot Kennedy, sir!

Lee Harvey Oswald also tried to assassinate Gen. Walker in April 1963, but no one knew about that until after he [Oswald] died. He used the same rifle that killed the President in November, he took surveillance photos of the General's house, left instructions for his wife on what to do if he didn't come back home....he committed himself to being a political assassin. Gen. Walker was a segregationist and virulent anti-communist, both of which clashed with Oswald's own ideology.

I understand that in order to invest the President's death with more meaning, we feel compelled to lump more names in with Oswald's, to make it seem as though Kennedy died for something greater than one screwball's egotistic ambitions, but it just didn't happen that way. He did this on his own. He was tired of being ignored, tired of being forgotten, and tired of being ordinary. He wanted to be famous, he wanted to be somebody. He got his wish.

Whether Oswald knew it or not--and I suspect that he *did* know it--Oscar Collazo and Griselio Torresola, who tried and failed to kill Harry Truman in 1950 (an event that occurred when Oswald was eleven years old) *are* "somebodies" in their native Puerto Rico, at least among the local nationalists; they're heroes. I have for some time harbored a suspicion that it was Collazo and Torresola's deed that inspired Oswald to try to kill JFK.

tirob: As are you, of course, although your opinion flies in the face of every piece of evidence that I have ever seen.

I'm just telling you that what I saw on that film has me pretty much convinced the driver got off a shot. Search it on YouTube and you'll find one that goes on for quite a number of minutes. They slow it down, stabilize it, show it again, etc. You'd have to really work it to convince me otherwise, after my having seen that.

Also, the Garrison Files is a worthwhile watch - if you are interested. It is a documentary that features lengthy interviews with none other than James Garrison. He produces a goodly amount of evidence as well. I believe it was one of the tipping points for Oliver Stone in pursuing the film JFK.

There is abundant evidence that Kennedy's fatal wound was received from the front and that multiple shots were fired that day (bullet holes in the car, etc).

It's hard to establish much more of a case with the brain missing. Odd, that. A slain president's brain just goes missing.

In any event, the truth is that no one will ever know the entire truth. All we really have left are theories - you and me both. Mine is that Kennedy's CIA did him on the behest of the bankers. Recall his Executive Order a few weeks previous that - effectively - abolished the Federal Reserve's authority and privileges. Recall, as well, that Kennedy wanted American soldiers out of Vietnam. LBJ and his wife both had financial interests in General Dynamics - kind of like the Cheneys' relationship with Halliburton. Most improper.

Anywho, here's some links, should you have the time and inclination to check into them.

Sorry, but I could not find the original I mentioned, but this one includes some of that footage. Yes, there are people on YouTube who claim to debunk this theory. Proceed with your own judgment.

Kennedy's Executive Order that dealt with the Federal Reserve - Link

Again, all we have are theories. Mine is that Kennedy was a sitting duck and his murder was planned well in advance by people who stood to lose if his presidency continued.

phenn:

You have *no* eyewitness who says s/he saw Greer with a gun in his hand while the motorcade was on Elm Street. Period. Assertions by Jim Garrison are not evidence, either.

Not even Jean Hill, the woman in the red outfit who is clearly visible in the Z movie.

Several Secret Service agents in the *followup car* drew their guns immediately after the shots were fired, including George Hickey, mentioned in the headline.

Link

I think it likely that these were the men Mrs. Hill reported seeing in her November 22, 1963 statement to the Dallas Sheriff's department.

There were two other home movies made of the motorcade while it was on Elm Street, the Nix film and the Muchmore film, both available on YouTube and elsewhere. Neither supports the scenario you posit.

Recall, as well, that Kennedy wanted American soldiers out of Vietnam

Read the Pentagon Papers and you will be disabused of this notion.
