//Is PVR'ing it... so that I can mitigate some of the pain by fastforwarding through the hundreds of Black Friday commercials and/or Canadian crappy commercials, depending on whether the guy manning the feed is drunk or not.

Since CBS declined my application for a waiver to watch on Directv, I'll be watching the first game online.

I disapprove of the naming of the drunk uncle in this headline. I won't be drunk today however, so I guess I'm in the clear this time

Is Hernandez definitely out for the Pats? Since Gronk got broken I picked up Shiancoe in lieu of starting an Eagle.

It's gonna be tough to start drinking at noon and make it all the way to the end of the Patriots game...but I will struggle, and I will triumph.

Plus Flacco is on the road again this week, making a can of "cranberry sauce" a better start than he is.

Thanksgiving for me is going to be a party at a wine shop my friend owns at 11am (free booze and oysters!) and then a turduken feast at my one "I don't own a TV" friend's house (free booze and turduken!)... so I guess I'll be missing out.

No biggie, I'll just follow the scores on the phone.

Merry Thanksmas Everybody!! Looking forward to the family gathering today. A few family members and I are the only Texans fans in a sea of Cowboys fans, so today will be fun.

Luckily they're good natured obnoxious (but hilarious) so shouldn't have to be too drunk before the ritual sacrifice of the flightless bird.

I get Thanksgiving Day halfway. I can see the football game just fine, but there's no turkey here since it's not a holiday.

Oh well, might as well get a few pieces of rotisserie when I leave work.

Happy American Thanksgiving.

Or as Canadians affectionately call it, Thursday.

The tryptophan in the turkey isn't actually what makes you sleepy. What does cause you to get drowsy is the massive amounts of carbs people eat today and all the alcohol people tend to drink today, be it wine with dinner or beer during the football game(s). The more of the starchy stuff you eat, the more blood is diverted away from your central nervous system to your digestive tract, and the sleepier you get.

Rivalry week is awesome. Just a full day of Thanksmas leftovers, beer, laziness and a bunch of teams playing that REALLY hate each other. Good matches this year too.

For today, I pick:

- Texans over Lions, because NO ONE should be forced to spend their Thanksgiving in Detroit.

- RG3 trolls teh c0wz for the lulz :P

- The New York Jets put their differences aside, come together as a team, and pull off an inspirational upset this holiday evening.

...

OF COURSE NOT! Patriots win by 40. XD

2012-11-22 12:08:01 PM
Crap. Jonathan Joseph is out. So it's Alan Ball or Kreamed Jackson covering Megatron. Our only hope is the pass rush.

2012-11-22 12:10:06 PM
In keeping with the historical accuracies of Thanksgiving, I've picked the visiting team to win in each match today...although that forces a break with history in mandating that the Redskins win. But regardless of how the football action plays out, I hope that we can take to heart the true message of Thanksgiving in America: don't give food to a bunch of strange white folk. At least, not unless you've built up an immunity to smallpox.

Houston Texans at Detroit Lions:
So which Texans defense do we see today? The one that got torched by Chad Farking Henne (that's actually his real middle name; look it up) for 37 points last weekend, or the one that allowed just 28 points over their prior three games combined? Against a Lions team that gobbles up all kinds of yardage but struggles to put points on the scoreboard, I'm going with the latter. Plus when it comes to preparing for a game on a short week, I tend to favor what I regard as the more complete team. Bold prediction: Matthew Stafford has his worst game of the season in a Houston rout...and keep in mind that Stafford is coming off a 5 sack, 3 turnover, 54.0 passer rating performance against Green Bay last Sunday. 38-17

Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys:
In one of the longest-running rivalries the NFL has to offer, I'm banking on a mild upset. My reasoning? The ground game...Washington has one, Dallas does not. It also doesn't help that the Cowboys have to gameplan for one of the most dynamic offensive threats the league has seen in years without getting the full week to do it. I look for the Redskins to keep stuffing it down their throats via the run, while Dallas' drives consistently come up one play short. 20-13

New England Patriots at New York Jets:
I've given up entirely on figuring out the Jets this season, but as Luck would have it (because I'm sure he doesn't want to face them again so soon) New York draws the Patriots today so it doesn't really matter what Ryan's boys do. While Tom Brady may struggle (for him) against what is still a stout secondary, expect New England to carve out some big gains with the running game (New York allows more than 140 yards/game on the ground, 30th in the league) and ride a big time of possession advantage to another easy victory. 35-6

Incorrect, what makes you sleepy is the devil lulling you into a weakened state so you'll sin. Your best defense is good, clean living and a cross to protect you from his spells.

It's called triple coverage, hopefully. And Detroit decided to bench their other good wideout, so there's nobody left to cover

Yea. As soon as I hit add, the talking heads said Calvin was hurt so I take back that comment. I get nervous about the Texans on nationally televised games.
