People are confusing free speech for criminal speech. Just because you do it online doesn't mean it is legal. PIPA and SOPA wouldn't exist if so many dipshiats wouldn't so brazenly violate copyright law (notice that I didn't say stealing).

Also, copyright and patent law need to be completely retooled.

Um, we are. We are on the permanent council...

Don't worry about it. That's just the argument that people who are on a lot of ignore lists use.

I guess they go out in their daily life and seek out crazy people, people they hate, and people who are just offensive assholes, and listen to them for hours. Because THEY don't ignore people. Nope. They wouldn't do something so shallow.

Life would certainly be much more pleasant if we never heard an opinion we disagreed with or were offended by. The UK and other countries are attempting to apply this principle to their entire societies.

We might be hypocritical bastards, but that's a damned sight better than the bastards who have no hypocrisy and only ill intent.

The Internet is what it is today because of the United States of America. Period.

"We don't want to come across like we're preaching to others," he said. "At the end of the day, we need to influence others. We need to demonstrate an understanding of the environment they're in."

It starts with "We need to demonstrate an understanding of the environment they're in."

It ends with us adopting their systems of oppression in the name of cultural sensitivity.

Fark them.

If it's a preachin' they need, then it's a preachin' they get.

yeegrek: chuckufarlie: the UN spends all of its time and a lot of our money trying to be relevant. It's time to close it down.

Gotta tell you, I'm getting to that point where I say fark it. And I support their stated mission. But the executrion has been so piss poor that I can't justify any of my tax money, no matter how small the actual slice is, going to that pit.

I think its because in the past few decades it has turned from being an organization that helps impoverished nations to a organization that just exists to punish those nations that succeed and seems to blame the rich nations for making the impoverished nations poor.

Well the way the UN is talking is that they want control of it to basically censor anything they want, I hate our government but there is no way the UN needs to be in control of anything, they fark up more than any other nation. Also hidden is some of their bills is how they want an international tax on wealthier countries to build out infrastructure to poorer nations, which is just stupid since they dont have devices needed to take advantage of high speed access and wireless with decent speeds reach them now, although its not cheap.

What he said. The US is too obsessed with regulating it and censoring it in a way that benefits mega corps to allow anyone else to have a remote chance of gouging that pie before they fark it.

How long do you think before we get our government controlled and monitored universal internet access?
