I, too, have greatly enjoyed the Riddick movies. They are fun, and Riddick is a fun character. I'll definitely be watching this, and I'm glad they aren't dumbing it down to a PG-13 rating. :D

I liked Chronicles of Riddick because it was essentially Kull the Conquerer. It wasn't a science fiction movie in the least, but a fantasy film in a science fiction setting. It had the barbarian storm the castle and slay the wizard-king, and given his mantle, with all the loss that a Robert E. Howard hero is supposed to bear. And it was done in a way that was fresh and fun.

The Riddick franchise is a huge amount of fun. From the games, to the side project cartoon, as well as the films, the whole thing is based on a character that makes no apologies for being who he is, nor do the projects themselves make any apologies for being what they are. They aren't kiddie projects. They aren't looking for maximum marketing hooks. They are fun rides though.

Was being on a sun scorched planet and tracked by mercenaries half of the last movie and a bounty hunter after that has a personal vendetta was half of the first Riddick movie?

i thought chronicles of riddick was terrible, but i like lots of terrible movies so that was no big deal. what really annoyed me about it was that it seemed to take place in a completely different universe than pitch black. pitch black didn't have any of the fantasy elements, there was no mention of necromongers or elementals or any of that crap, and it treated space travel much differently. people traveled in cryo-stasis chambers and the ships flew in programmed shipping lanes, but in chronicles they just hit a button and flew a tiny spaceship halfway across the galaxy in like a couple days. the movie wasn't a sequel at all, it took place in an entirely different fictional universe.

"Longmire" is a great show, but it could use some of the previously mentioned Katee Sackhoff side boob.

That's exactly why I hated the second movie. Pitch Black at least was plausible sci-fi. Maybe (hopefully) this new movie will be a sequel reboot that keeps with the original movie's universe. Then we can pretend 'Chronicles' never existed.

Airplane was PG and had a couple seconds of very gratuitous full boob. The MPAA can go fark themselves.

No, she's full of shiat. From the article:

" He must have said f**k 15 times, in every single scene. It's pretty awesome. So, it's mostly for language."

It's ALL for the language. two uses of the word in a movie and it gets an "R." Despite what this joker-looking chick thinks, it has fark-all to do with her side boob. You can have full-frontal in a PG movie as long as it's in a non-sexual context.

She also thinks using "fark" multiple times in every scene makes the movie awesome. So, yeah....

Yeah, her ass. I don't remember boobies in a PG-13 movie since Titanic. And that was just one boobie. I can extrapolate but still. In the 1970s and 1980s boobies in PG movies were plentiful. Did we lose a war?

Chronicles of Riddick was a spin-off sequel of Pitch Black. They've even when back and added the title Chronicles of Riddick to Pitch Black.

My character and Matt Nable's character say f**k, like every other word. It's kind of fantastic, actually. He must have said f**k 15 times, in every single scene. It's pretty awesome.

Sounds like great writing.
