Fine. I'll be that buzzkilling guy:

NOT a clothes iron. A flat iron is a hair straightener. A flat curling iron. That's why he could clamp it on her arm (oh that made me cry) because it has the little clamper part.

Also, my daughters leave the curling iron on frequently. It drives me nuts! So I clamped it on their arms to teach them a lesson bought one with automatic shut off so they wouldn't burn the house down.

Also also. ""The facts that will come out in this case will show that my client isn't a child abuser." has been said by the lawers of every child abuser ever. When the facts come out, which they will...

fusillade762: he wanted to teach her lesson about leaving the iron on

"He's a veteran of the Iraq War."

It's like that thing they do in boot camp where they shoot you to teach you a lesson about not getting in front of bullets.

He's an Air force vet. I seriously doubt Mr. Dumbass here even got close to anything resembling combat.

/I know exactly where we can put that hot iron.

I don't see anything funny about a 12 year old girl being burned with an iron. Do and say what you please. I just don't think it's funny.

ExcaliburPrime111: I think the "veteran" tag here is more of a way to "excuse" his actions, or at least say something to the effect of: "This was probably a nice guy, but his experiences as a veteran are at least partly to blame for his later unacceptable behavior. While we certainly do not condone these actions, we can sympathize to some extent and don't feel that this is a completely horrible person."

Yeah, when what it really needs to be is: This guy was probably dangerously unstable long before he saw combat, and anything that happened over there only made things that much worse. We need to stop rationalizing psychotic behavior by "veterans" and admit that crazy people are crazy, and shellshock just rips off whatever scabs might have formed over their already festering wounds.

Then maybe all the REST of the combat veterans wouldn't have to live with the idea they're all like decades-old dynamite, just waiting for some kind of jolt when it's not true.

She answered the iron.

How did she burn the other ear?

When they called back.

How'd she burn her fingers?

She tried to read the waffle maker.

KrispyKritter: the 3rd-4th time this happened i left the iron out on the porch. somehow this got the point across to the Mrs.

i like how news articles mention someone is a veteran. voluntarily putting yourself in harms way to be an assassin for a government that will gladly let you starve homeless & unemployed if you make it home alive tells me you make poor decisions and are quite possible unstable.

AverageAmericanGuy: I was walking across the carpet in my living room the other day and at one particular spot I felt the shag get 'crispy'. Getting down on my hands and knees, I felt around the area and there seemed to be a small patch of this strangeness. I thought maybe my kid had spilled a milkshake or something on the rug, so I raised my voice at him when he denied spilling anything. He went to his room crying and grounded. We don't accept lying in this house.

Later when my wife got back from shopping, I told her about the carpet and she came clean that she had done that when she was ironing shirts earlier. The iron had fallen from its charging stand and briefly fell on the rug. This was enough to burn the rug. I yelled a little while about how this was going to cost us to have the carpet replaced.

After a while I stopped feeling angry and we all had dinner and they apologized for their behavior.

LOL!

Right. It was just an accident. That's why the girl had to get her burns treated at school.

Ok, fair enough. Lets beat the shiat out of him to teach him a lesson about abuse.
