How has Bjork never done anything with the Muppets? She's practically a real-life Muppet herself, it seems like it should have happened by now.

Also, 47? Would not have guessed that.

One of the most important artists.... how long is the list? Top 100, 200, 500? I'm not sure I could rank her in the top of 100, let alone top 200. Especially if we're saying 'artists' and not just musicians.

A Google image search fails on this one, but if you go to Bing image search and search for "Bjork enjoy coke" Bing knows which picture I was looking for.

Bjork is still the straw stirring my milkshakes, her music makes me feel beautiful. I don't fight it or try to figure out why. I just listen and bloom.

Bjork is like the coolest girl you knew in high school or college.

Only much cooler.

And she fights to keep foreign companies from selling Iceland's resources to the people.

Bjork! Bjork! Bjork!

I assume by "important" that subby refers to the fact that the Bjork is the standard international unit for measuring things which suck. It's the amount of suckage contained in one Bjork song.

Nuttier than a wooden clog full of squirrel turds but she has that sexy pixie thing going on.

PJ Harvey and Bjork are awesome (I'm actually listening to PJ right now), but Tori Amos has always bored me senseless. I feel like I should like her, but I just can't get into her for ome reason.

Tori's first two (solo) albums are fantastic. The third one is good. After Boys for Pele, though, yeah, I got bored too.

Bjork has her moments of awesomeness.

I like pretty much everything PJ Harvey has done

Watched the first part of the video. We need to get her on stage with Joe Cocker, STAT.

That "It's Oh So Quiet" video is the reason I love Bjork.

I liked that video, so I watched the movie Dancer in the Dark and DAYUM!

For decades we could not have musicals like Rodgers and Hammerstein. Too earnest!

And one day somebody says, "Ha! Check out my ,modern Rodgers- and Hammerstein-style musical!!"

She recorded on Southern Records, The Crass label, as teen with a band named KUKL. She's got a long interesting history whether you like her music or not.

yes, PJ Harvey is greater than Bjork. This is common knowledge. No citation is needed.

watched Goldie and Tricky get in a fistfight over Bjork at the Roxy in NYC back in the mid 90s. none of them were performing that night.

Why is she an important artist, much less one of the most important artists of the last 25 years? Serious question, I'm not being snarky. I remember her having one minor hit during the early 90s alternative era, the one with the video featuring the creepy giant teddy bear. What is her subsequent influence and great works that make her an "important artist"?

If you answer, don't talk about how creative, unique and quirky she may or may not be. That may or may not make her a creative talent, but it doesn't make her "important" unless that creativity has rubbed off on the larger scene somehow. Instead, demonstrate with examples how she influenced music as a whole. Personally, I don't see it and don't consider her important at all, but I admit I don't actually know her work that well and I am willing to be persuaded.

The woman is utterly batshiat insane, but her music is beautiful, and she seems to be a decent person too. Also, Dancer in the Dark is one of the most beautiful films I will *never* watch again.

She's been in the music business since 1977, still has a massive rabid fan base and still sells albums and still sells out shows.. She may not have sold as many records as Madonna, she may not get all the headlines like Lady Gaga etc but as a female artist to last as long as she has in a cut throat business like the music business.. I'd say she's pretty important.

She has a ridiculous voice, and I mean that in a good way. Just an astounding range and texture that no one else can really touch.

That being said, I have never been able to stand her or her music.

I love Bjork, but I do miss Einar and the rest of the Sugarcubes.
