That should be somewhere around January 20, 2017

It'll never be over until the baby-boomers are all dead so there is no longer a large number of scared old white folks who can't face the fact that the America they think they remember from their youth has changed.

You mean Boomers like me?

/that didn't vote for Romney?
//broad brush you got there, son

What happened to your generation, anyway? They started out all free love and anti-war. Then they turned into the biggest corporatist generation the world has ever seen who in large numbers support the war on drugs and vote Republican.

I still have a hard time believing that's Mitt Romney and not just some random white dude.

I just can't put the two together, in fact that looks more like a cross between Jeremy Clarkson and Gary Busey than anything Mitt should ever look like...

The sad truth is that every generation will ultimately be corrupted by the system. That's what the system does and it's brutally efficient at it. No matter what strategy a generation comes up with to fight the system, it will always fail in the end. The system will take your strategy, chop it up, repackage it in a socially acceptable form and then sell it back to you. And you'll buy it, because you'll have convinced yourself that you're too smart to be fooled. And then one day you'll be 40 years old with a family and a mortgage and aging parents and medical bills and you'll wonder how you ended up in the same rat race your parents were trapped in. It will be at that moment that your kid will wander by wearing his hipster glasses and a wool scarf in 90 degree weather jabbering on his phone about some obscure German band and you'll suddenly see the punchline. At that point, you can either throw back your head and laugh in admiration at the ingenuity of the system, or you can put a bullet in your brain.

You do realize that young people today are probably going to get older as time goes on? And my neighborhood is full of ignorant right-wingers under the age of thirty.

That's always going to happen. Somebody, we'll be the old people with outdated ideas about how the country should work. My only hope is that when I reach that age, I won't be so aggressive about it as they are.
