denny really means "Seniors", aged 65 and older, since they are the ones dying off. The oldest boomers are only barely 65. If he's waiting for the boomers to die off, I hope he has 20 years.

FWIW: boomers almost exactly split between Romney and Obama. Next time they'll go solidly Dem.

"There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what."

"And I mean the President starts off with 49, 49...he starts off with a huge number. These are people who pay no income tax. 47% of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect."

The 47% who will vote for Obama no matter what are:

1. dependent upon government

2. believe they are victims

3. believe the government has a responsibility to take care of them - via free:

A) health care
B) food
C) housing
D) you name it

4. Pay no income tax

So, no that is not what he meant in his remarks - perhaps you are dense, or willfully ignorant. Either way, wrong.

At best, chucklefark, it just means that he is a complete and utter failure.

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. And I mean, the president starts off with 48, 49, 48-he starts off with a huge number. These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect. And he'll be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich. I mean that's what they sell every four years. And so my job is not to worry about those people-I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives. What I have to do is convince the 5 to 10 percent in the center that are independents that are thoughtful, that look at voting one way or the other depending upon in some cases emotion, whether they like the guy or not, what it looks like.

So liberal voter fraud has manipulated the vote to give Romney 47% of the vote?
I hope they don't think anybody is being fooled!

WorldCitizen: What happened to your generation, anyway? They started out all free love and anti-war. Then they turned into the biggest corporatist generation the world has ever seen who in large numbers support the war on drugs and vote Republican.

The sad truth is that every generation will ultimately be corrupted by the system. That's what the system does and it's brutally efficient at it. No matter what strategy a generation comes up with to fight the system, it will always fail in the end. The system will take your strategy, chop it up, repackage it in a socially acceptable form and then sell it back to you. And you'll buy it, because you'll have convinced yourself that you're too smart to be fooled. And then one day you'll be 40 years old with a family and a mortgage and aging parents and medical bills and you'll wonder how you ended up in the same rat race your parents were trapped in. It will be at that moment that your kid will wander by wearing his hipster glasses and a wool scarf in 90 degree weather jabbering on his phone about some obscure German band and you'll suddenly see the punchline. At that point, you can either throw back your head and laugh in admiration at the ingenuity of the system, or you can put a bullet in your brain.

except my boomer parents worked for the same companies their entire lives and retired with these things called pensions.

I really don't see that out of Gen X, perhaps these new fangled millenials will be different

I would try to explain more but I'm gonna go slack somewhere instead, man

Nothing is ever different. The Millennials have already been subverted, they just don't know it yet.

The Larch: Maybe Tag Romney should think about punching Karl Rove and Dick Morris in the face for lying to his daddy.

I'd buy that for a dollar.

If the final tally really does give him 47 percent - then that does it: I will be convinced the entire election season was an Aaron Sorkin script. The good showing by Romney in first debate was the climactic scene at the end of Part One of a two-parter.

WorldCitizen: MaudlinMutantMollusk: dennysgod: MaudlinMutantMollusk: GanjSmokr: I'll be glad when this election is finally over.

That should be somewhere around January 20, 2017

It'll never be over until the baby-boomers are all dead so there is no longer a large number of scared old white folks who can't face the fact that the America they think they remember from their youth has changed.

You mean Boomers like me?

/that didn't vote for Romney?
//broad brush you got there, son

Its what people DO when they get some real world experience and figure out how things work.

/ if you dont like the "older and wiser people do this" angle, look at it like this: If one group is screwing and one group is taking, its better to join the other group at some point.

Why do you suppose I've been calling them 47-percenters for the last month?

Because they are lazy, stupid, greedy and sucking the life blood out of America? Well, yes. That too.

They're so deep in denial they don't realize that those social security cheques and Medicare cheques that they've been Tea Partying to protect qualify them for membership in Romney's 47%. In fact, all of them are far more expensive that the Democratic 47%.

I say means-test their fat white asses like the termite queens they are*.

WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND He IS US.

*Not literally. But you could claw back money from the households with more than enough money to retire without medicare and social security and give to those who worked all their lives and then lost it all to an outsourcing or an off-shoring or simply an M&A or bankruptcy.

God may not be a Democrat, but he is DEFINITELY not a Republican.

As he told the Prophet Ezekiel:

Ezekiel 16:48-50
King James Version (KJV)

48 As I live, saith the Lord God, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

Word. Red Letter, baby! The Republican Party platform is worse than the Sins of Sodom. God told me so. In the first person, through his second greatest prophet after Isaiah.

I'm guessing that God is an Independent voter who leans Democratic when they stand up for the liberal democratic values that once guided the Republic and have been abandoned by the Equestrian classes.

Bite me, God-Botherers. You're bothering the Wrong God.

Go on a diet, get down to work and help the poor get out of the poverty you pushed them into and maybe, just maybe, Michelle Obama can find you some sackcloth and ashes to wear while you get down to injustice fighing weight.

The cities were destroyed because they were inhospitable to strangers.

The strangers to whom Abraham had shown hospitality just three days after circumcising himself.

/Of course, the Deity is not very happy with the "deport-all-the-Messicans"-type Republicans, either.
