Good for them. I worked at a restaurant once where the owner of the place was a dick. (More than one)
The entire staff had a meeting and decided we would all keep out attitudes up, seek work elsewhere, and all quit on the same day, just before the big rush season.
He went out of business.

Another one stiffed me for a raise and got a broken nose for that.
His mother tried to hire me, because no one had ever stood up to her son.
no thanks, mom, he's a product of you.

Rule #1 Don't fark with my paycheck.

When I worked for a small Northern California newspaper one of our reporters wrote a story revealing that one of our major advertiser's (a regional grocery chain) produce and meat scales were consistently cheating customers as verified by the county's Bureau of Weights and Measures.

Our publisher refused to print it. The reporter resigned that day, and the story appeared the next day in our competitor's paper under her byline, with the addendum that our paper refused to print it. She's been with that newspaper for 25 years now, and she's all class.

He put on "Take this Job and Shove It", left the studio and locked the door behind him, and walked out. It was about five minutes before anyone noticed he wasn't in there any more and get the door open...

The TV news business is relatively small.. and (as you can imagine) filled with people who's actual job description involves investigating people. You can bet any time a resume crosses a desk, they're checked out. There's no way they'll be able to hide this, and they know it.

THAT SAID - if their claims are true, they should have no problems finding new employment in another market if they so choose. This isn't really scandalous. In fact, it's something appealing to news directors who still have newsrooms with strong ethics (they exist, hardly as rare as cynics think) But, based on the article, it sounds like they're leaving the business.

When I was a youngin' a local DJ "Johnny Danger" was working for Z104 here in Madison. He left by locking himself in the studio and playing "I'm too sexy" as a protest of the direction that Z104 had taken after selling to Clear Channel. They had started playing the same boring top 40 songs over and over, and he didn't like it, so he took it to the extreme. He got fired.

Then he went to 94.1 WJJO, which was a classic rock station, that then turned into a hard rock station, then they sold out to Clear Channel and went to shiat as well. In case anyone didn't see the "fark Clear Channel" thread the other night, fark Clear Channel.
