Obama didn't call the attack a terrorist action right away. Seriously, that's all there is to this.

the GOP plan in a nutshell. they're really pushing this conspiracy stuff hard...but I guess they kinda have to, don't they? the Republican mantra is that Obama *must* fail. he HAS to fail. if he succeeds, then the Republicans are in trouble. the fact that the GOP is basically using the dead bodies of US citizens as fuel for their petty political ambitions is just the price of admission.

It's worth noting that if Mittens had handled this properly and not gone with the easiest talking point to disprove during the debate he probably could have gotten some traction out of this.

But we're talking Mitt Romney here.

The Right thought that Benghazi would sink Obama's reelection. When it didn't, they had to salvage their reputations by trying to take out one of Obama's surrogates. This is nothing more than post-election head hunting.

Sybarite: Facts are stupid things.

Indeed.

But our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous - not a premeditated - response to what had transpired in Cairo. In Cairo, as you know, a few hours earlier, there was a violent protest that was undertaken in reaction to this very offensive video that was disseminated.

Never mind the bodies that they conveniently forget about when it was on someone else's watch.

The sad thing is, that this is the sort of reporting that goes on when you actively WANT a scandal, and are simply want to WILL it into being. The Wing Nut Brigade has lost some fine soldiers in the DERP Brigades. Breitbart passed. Beck has faded into obscurity. Rush, while he is still on the airwaves, has become a constant source for embarrassment. Coulter has grown shrill and gets less and less airtime as she is less the ideal, and is approaching negative mass in an attempt to stay photogenic when her screeds need a bump in sales and there aren't enough warehouse spaces to house them. They need new blood, and right now, there is only so much column space, and only so much attention span, so folks are focusing on columnists who can be quote mined, but who remain somewhat out of the limelight, and can retain the appearance of journalists. Post election, there is going to have to be some reassessment of how effective these folks are, and if they even cost effective, and that is something that folks like Rubin has to realize, and thus, she has to try to reinvent her image and try to remain useful...

Disagree here. What I 'see' is this:

They're fighting for the narrative.

Rush and company are being unusually non-strident and I think it's because Romney has decided that the anti-Romney cheerleaders in the GOP have some blame coming. He(Romney) has shown a lot of signs that he's personally passing out blame to those that he thinks caused him to lose and the shockjocks are a big part of that.

You got Jindal and others trying to pull the GOP back from the chasm of irrelevancy by reaching out to non-white, non-rich, non-male voters.

At the same time, you have same band of crazies that got them here and they're tying to double-down on the derp for 2014.

In short, the king died in his sleep, he had no heir and the two largest contenders for the throne of the GOP are slugging it out politely for the direction of the next 4 years.

Right now, we have Christie, Graham, Jindal and McCain hogging the spotlight. Who else is pushing themselves forward with 2016 in mind?

Obama tried to cover up a "terrorist" attack with a "spontaneous" attack. In an alternate universe Obama tried to cover up a "spontaneous" attack with a "terrorist" attack. In yet another one, the GOP doesn't create distinctions between security lapses that don't exist.

2012-11-21 09:53:48 AM
let's get some of our fark Benghazi experts in here to explain what's going on with this explosive scandal that proves Obama is a liar and incompetent.

I really wonder if the election loss and this 2 month long push for a scandal that has utterly dried up has caused any of these fools to step back and take a look at the people they look to as leaders.

you RWers starting to wonder what else your GOP/FOX outrage machine is flat out wrong about?
hint: everything

/gonna be neat watching the GOP on fark pretend to have any credibility at this point.

First it was that Obama told response teams to stand down. That was false.
Then it was that it took too long for response teams to arrive. It took 30 minutes, and a team in Tripoli responded from over 300 miles away in 4 hours.
Then it was that the target wasn't protected. It was pointed out that the GOP voted down increased security.
Then it was that Obama didn't call it an act of terror. That worked out well for Romney in the second debate.
Then it was that the White House didn't specifically name the groups involved. Because revealing national intelligence and letting terrorist groups know we have covert information on them is awesome.
Now it's that the WH changed public talking points through Rice. Except that three intelligence agencies changed them first, for the reason above this one.
Who knows what it will be next?

Actually, the mantra is that he HAS failed. He started as a failure, always was a failure. They're just trying to PROVE it now.

The whole 57 states, TelePrompTer, empty suit, liberal savior, arugula, promising gifts, and holding the line against him to make him a one term president? All of that started in 2008, mostly before he was even elected.

He was a failure BECAUSE HE WAS A DEMOCRAT before he even started. The conclusion came before the evidence. Just as it did with Clinton, and just as it does every candidate and politician who's a democrat. And just as it does with every manufactured scandal, conspiracy, or event that supposedly proves a bad thing about a democrat. The conclusion comes first.
