My sentiments exactly.

Thanks for everything, Jackie.

"In the film, Chan is a treasure hunter seeking to repatriate sculpture heads of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac, which were taken from Beijing's Summer Palace by French and British forces during the Opium Wars."

The Opium wars always interested me after I first learned about them. "Let's get people hooked on drugs so we can destabilize the government and make shiat tons of money, and fark the consequences"

So his next movie is basically Jackie Chan Adventures?

I can go for that.

Both of the Drunken Master movies of his that I've seen will always be my favorites.

Rumble in the Bronx is like his first "mainstream" US film. I watch it about once a year. It's dated but still pretty cool

I agree with the Drunken Master films, as well as Wheels on Meals, Project A, and Armor of the Gods(The first one, released in the US as Operation Condor 2 despite being the first film and Operation Condor being Armor of the Gods 2). Who Am I? is also really good.

Ditto. The fact that my wife has seen neither these nor Blazing Saddles is becoming a point in our marriage.

I've always had a soft spot for the one where he beats up a gang with a ladder, and the boxing matches in Wheels on Meals and Gorgeous are great... but yeah, Drunken Master II is his best. Try to find an Asian version of the DVD, it's better.

Hasn't he said he's going to retire from action movies, like, a dozen times? At this point he's starting to sound like Cher.

Can't he just do an Expendables movie?

Isn't it time for Jackie to be the sensei not the pupil?

He's been the action hero too many times. Make him the master and make Drunken Master 3 and put some spry young fellow in the shoes of the alcoholic apprentice.

This, as other have said.

Then again, I've been known to drink a few, so ymmv.

Police Story kicks a huge pile of butt. Fists of Fury is pretty decent for one of his older films.

Legend of Drunken Master ranks up there as one of my favorites too, and I'll always have a soft spot for Rumble in the Bronx for being the first of his films I got to see on the big screen.

I thought Forbidden Kingdom was really enjoyable too, though that opinion has drawn scorn from some.

For me:
Project A 2
Police Story 2

Really want him to fight Jet Li in The Expendables 3.

The first Police Story is argueably the best action film ever made outside of America. And don't get me started on the The Drunken Masters now those films are just epic.

Jackie is a class act all the way. One of the true good guys.

They already did a movie where they fought some. Fantasy flick only a couple years back iirc.
Chan even reprised drunken fighting for part of it.

I love Jackie Chan, but he should have never filmed Rush Hour 3. The plot was horrible, the writing made it look like its target audience was 12 years old, and Jackie Chan's action sequences were very abbreviated. It was almost sad to watch, comparable to watching Tom Seaver pitching in his comeback to the NY Mets.

Also, less action with Jackie meant more with Chris Tucker.

That being said, I truly hope this film is a better embodiment of his work than his prior one.

Forbidden Kingdom was the name of the movie. Wasn't great, but not altogether bad.

Fearless Hyena, Fist of the Dragon, and Snake in Eagle's Shadow are fantastic films. Others have mentioned the obvious choices, but I wanted to pop in and mention these. The villain (Hwang Jang Lee) and the teacher (Yuen Siu Tien) from Drunken Master also plays in Snake in Eagle's Shadow.

Excuse me, Dragon Fist...it's been awhile. The last time I saw it was a VHS rental from Blockbuster. The other two I own.

Well, I'd still like to see him in it.

Less "acting", more fighting.
Mr. Nice Guy was almost unbearable.
Wheels on Meals also deserves mention.

No love here for 'City Hunter'?

It's a little silly in places (intentionally), and it gave us this:

The first Police Story has the most jaw-dropping stunts I've ever seen. I'm surprised he isn't already in a wheelchair.

I loved Jackie Chan's "Who Am I?". That was a great movie. If you think about it, he was Jason Bourne. "Drunken Master" was awesome. The "Shanghai" movies were goofy. But they were fun. "Rush Hour" 1 and 2 were decent. But 3 was crappy. I like "Mr. Nice Guy". Was the writing stellar? No, not really. But it was a good time. The thing about Jackie Chan's movies is you usually have a good time watching them, and that's what's important to film, not to nitpick, but to have a good time.

2012-11-21 09:52:05 AM
Ooooh, "Twin Dragons" was awesome too!!!

I finally got around to seeing Wheels on Meals. Wasn't bad. Not my favorite, but still good Jackie.

If you've ever played this:

...then you've played the video game based loosely on the film. Original name for the game in Japan was Spartan X, the name that WoM was released under in Japan.

It is my absolute favorite Jackie Chan movie, and one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time.

The fact that anime/manga purists detest it only adds to its appeal.

Operation condor is farking hilarious. The one where he goes into a desert.

I know. It was like I was watching these two horrible films again.

I enjoy the man and his stunt work is fantastic, but most of his movies(and all of the ones made in the US) are crap. The Drunken Master films are definitely an exception.

My favorite Jackie Chan movie is "Armor of God 2: Operation Condor". Get the asian version and not the cut U.S. version.

No love for "Cannonball Run"?
