Pick: Local Lowes has 3 gallons of peanut oil for $47.88. So, no turkey frying here. I will BBQ mine on the smoker with about $3 worth of charcoal and free wood that I cut on my property.


My old boss held an annual turkey frying party like Danger Mouse described. Everyone got to bring their own turkey and he'd fry them all, one by one in his back yard. It was great fun and was the only way to make economical sense out of using $50 dollars worth of oil.

Frying turkey just seems wrong. Turkey should be done in the oven. It should be tough and dry and just barely edible smothered in salt and gravy, and if necessary mixed with copious amounts of cranberry, mashed potato, stuffing, and whatever else you have on hand.
