(Daily Telegraph)   A strange muppet-like beast has been shot dead in Namibia. Yeah, right, if this is another lame Elmo link I'm going to ... AAAAAAH WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?   (dailytelegraph.com.au) divider line 182

Looks like a mangy rodent, probably a rabbit. I don't buy the "it's coming right for us" in TFA.

Aliens who want to make contact with us better call ahead. Because if they show up un-announced, there is probably a 90%+ chance they will be instantly shot.

StrangeQ: brobinson2001: It's anencephaly.

My response to this:

"Oh cool, another rare medical term I've never heard of. I love learning new things!"

*looks up wiki article on anencephaly*

Try Harlequin baby. You'll need morphine.

They finally got him... they FINALLY got him... *sniff*...

I can finally sleep well tonight. First time in 13 years. Knowing I'll be able to sleep in a world with some sense of justice in it.

Lord, I have never prayed to you before, I have not the tongue for it. Yesterday, as it was in countless days prior, I cursed you for your inaction in allowing this thing to perpetuate my living nightmare. Today I have but one thing to say, and it is "Thank You". If you are real, and command me to an afterlife at some later date, I would be happy to buy you a beer, and I shall still ask- "BTW, that Jar-Jar thing- what the fark WAS that?" but I'm at peace now, and may be capable of finally understanding your answer.

Speaking as the resident cryptozoologist, that's either a real good fake, or something out of Greek mythology (faun?).

Onkel Buck: Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: Did some research on the photo, apparently it's been making the rounds for a few years.

It's apparently real, though not of an unknown creature. It's a human infant with arcania. Sad.

"Well, I was born without the top of my skull and I guess a little bit of my brains was showin' and it was grossin' everybody out so my mom put this wig on me to cover it up and then the bones grew together and it got all infused and entwined. I mean I don't mean to get all scientific with you."

Also: notice how the pic is blurry? It almost makes it look like Bigfoot's illegitimate offspring.

"I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry, and that's extra scary to me. Cause there's a large, out of focus monster roaming the countryside. 'Run, he's fuzzy, get out of here!'"

a group stumbled across several of the creatures in dense jungle.

not in Namibia they didn't. Aside from some scattered woodland, Namibia is desert and savanna (Bushveld). I've flown over it several times. It's the most desolate place I've ever seen.

They meant 'acrania', or the absence of a formed skull.

FWIW, this doesn't exactly look like acrania to me, but instead anencephaly (the buggy 'frog' eyes are characteristic of this deformity.)

/GIS either term at your own risk... needless to say this GIS will be completely, totally NSFW and 100% pure nightmare fuel

Somebody on /b/ posted last night. It's anencephaly. My link shows the umbilical still attached, and the thing on it's head is the amniotic sac. And, it's from last year. Someone's gonna get a firin for publishing this.

Just ate lunch 10 minutes ago, but here goes nothing...okay, I've seen worse. "Harlequin baby" is the REAL GIS challenge.

These kinds of things should be found by ultrasound and compulsorily aborted, in First World countries anyway. And used for ferret food.

CapeFearCadaver: UberDave: TROOOOLLLL!!

It does look humanoid. If it were only one (assuming TFA is real) I'd think it was a deformed kid from a villager who sent it off into the woods to fend for itself. There being three others...

Seriously, WTF?

Size is about right for a newborn, appears to be covered with the goo newborns are covered with. Light blue ear looks like oxygen deprivation. Looks like a cleft pallot- probably other physical defects as well. Latex surgical gloves during delivery. I wouldn't be waiting up for the autopsy result as there will probably not be one forthcoming.

Sad but nothing really to see here.

That was my thought, it's either a well-done fake or just a badly deformed baby. Case solved.

2012-11-20 04:03:09 PM
M24Digital consulted a medical expert who said: "No, that is not an alien. This is a child with anencephaly, a birth defect."

"As I can see, it is clear that the photograph is of a newborn or a dead baby after an abortion. The deformation process can be explained by a rustic and illegal interruption of pregnancy," he added.

Happy Thanksgiving
