Wow, that's actually a pretty dick move. That map was the only good thing about the first Black Ops (besides Sticks & Stones mode).

I always enjoyed the neighborhood maps on FPS games (Counter-Strike's CS_Estate comes to mind). A lot of different ways to play and places to shoot from.

Hard to when the biggest assholes in the industry are Activision and E.A. But then again, Activision is not all that bad. Blizzard is still putting out great RTS's and some great content for their games.

Why was that map supposed to be a selling point?

I gave up on COD multiplayer when I realized that the way they randomized spawns meant there was never a "front" to the battle. So most tactics and strategy are out. The only thing that matters is being twitchy enough to kill the person first when you both come around the corner at the same time, or to be lucky enough to shoot them in the back.

I dunno despite all the shiat activision pulls they still don't have the 'online code' bullshiat of EA and Ubisoft and COD is one of the few remaining games that allows split screen online play and guests. Online codes are the most insulting cash grab ever envisioned.

Back when I was playing CoD4. I was in a snipers nest. Only found 2 of those in all the maps. One pissed me off when the chopper just killed me randomly.

There are a few objective-based modes that still have that: Domination, and Hardpoint especially.

Plus, when people start getting to know the maps, there will usually be a few points on the map that teams will fight over.

I just want them to release a map-pack of all the Modern Warfare and Black-Ops maps that can be played with the most current release. I played the fark out of MW2, and it had some of the best map design I've seen from a CoD game.

Wow, I think you pinpointed why I got so sick and tired of the CoD multiplayer. I'm primarily a sniper, and from BLOPS onward, every single map was geared toward frantic close-quarters fighting. The random spawn points meant you could never spend more than a minute somewhere because odds are the other team would eventually spawn right behind you.

Nuketown is a fun map. It's not strategic, nor does it require great skill, but it's a fun little romp that should be included considering they sold the piss out of it prior to release.

As for CoD multiplayer, I almost exclusively play the domination mode because it requires some tactics to be used and hiding in a dark corner waiting for someone to walk by won't garner a win. But yeah, CoD is a game in Team Death Match that rewards cheap gimmicky gameplay, if not outright encourages it.

The best level was that ship level with two distinct sides (and spawn points). Get high up on one side and you've got a perfect sniping viewpoint. Then when you start pissing the other team off and forcing them to switch to sniper, you just wait for them to pop their heads out on the other side of the map and *BAM!* headshot. First time I ever had zero deaths was on that map (26-0).

There is a front. You just have to pay attention that one of your teammates isn't stupid enough to run through the back corner of whatever quadrant your enemy controls.

I exclusively play Dom for that reason. I just wish that they had bigger dom maps. They were so compact in MW3 it just felt like randomness than strategy. Hope the new one has bigger maps.

FTA: I'm not entirely sure what Treyarch or Activision had to gain from this decision that was worth risking public outcry, even if only a minority of Black Ops II players become involved.

It's not so much about what they had to gain, but the fact that they have literally nothing to lose. CoD players will eat up the new CoD game no matter what they do.

The word going around is that they pulled the playlist due to the massive amour of XP people were accumulating. I traditionally only played the hardcore gamemodes, but wandered into the nuketown playlist to see what was what. Dear lord, people would regularly go 50-40 or 23-2. If you aren't concerned about your k/d ratio, it was a simple way to rank up insanely fast. I can't blame them for pulling the nuketown 24/7 only playlist, but they should leave it as a map in the normal rotation. Whether or not that was the plan, I'm no sure.

I was in Headquarters mode on nuketown and a guy racked up 112 kills in a game. Not sure what perks he had but he was moving around super fast and his sub machine gun sprayed bullets faster than anything I've seen before.

I would post 100+ kills in dom on that level which had considerably less play time. No mods or even a team that I've played with before. Just put up that portable radar thing and sit in a house with an M40 and move around the top window. Dogs and Chopper gunner were easy to get to and due to the predictable spawns on that small level, the chopper would easily get 20-25 kills each time. Hit the dogs afterwards and run towards their base making sure they can't camp til the dogs end.

You can call it camping, but on that level there was no way I was stupid enough to walk into that fray.

I hate people who whine about camping anyways. We almost exclusively play in Hardcore Search and Destroy and we still hear idiots whining about camping when we are on defense. Like almost every game. Seriously once we had a guy lose his mind over voice coms.

"Oh my god! Man back out! These dicks only ever camp or rush!"

I'm not sure how he would have preferred that we play the game because when I asked him he said some stuff about my sexuality and my mother and then rage quit.

Excuse me if I stop at this corner and wait for your ignorant ass to fly around it, since you know... we have a UAV and you know it and none of your team bothers to shoot it down.

I get yelled at and called a camper every time I play and usually for this exact circumstance even though I'm the only one on my team actually taking positions in Dom. Usually when they start with the sexuality things I can pull some brutal lines on them as they have already proven that they are not the smartest.

The pile of shiate hasn't work since day one.

It won't allow me to log into any server, apparently 25% of users have same issue.

To rub salt into the wounds I miss the double xp weekend and then they take away my free map!

The release like the company has been a joke from bginning to end

Lots of people who preordered received incorrect download codes with their games and were unable to play the map.

Let's see. Company makes $500 million in sales in a 24 hour period. Heavily advertises "NUKETOWN 24/7. WE NEVER CLOSE!", then they remove the 24/7 version from the game. It's available again in a small maps moshpit.

How do these guys not get a class action lawsuit filed against them? Lot's of money in the bank and clear false advertising. Ambulance chasers have chased smaller fish for a much smaller payout.

The xp ranking over the weekend was crazy. I went from level 28 to prestige 1/level 20 in one night. Lucky for me they reset all my levels to 38 so I can do it all over again.

Yes, once again a CoD game has a level reset issue.

Map pack wasn't the correct words to use there, but unless I am reading the article wrong Nuketown is still available in multiplayer as a random map choice. They just removed the 24/7 Nuketown only mosh-pit game mode.

I gave MWO a try last week. "Oh hey, this thing is pretty fast, wheee" I go over a ridge, the world lights up, and I take heavy fire from pretty much every direction, and promptly explode. Meanwhile, the rest of my team has small groups of scouts moving in packs and tagging targets for long range artillery support. That's when I realized that a game based on 40 ton biped tanks is more "realistic" than CoD or BF.

It'll be assumed that you are scouting for artillery or have a 'misfit' that can punch harder that it appears... if you want to hunt I suggest "Follow that Atlas" as a good place to start, sure it's slow but it's a bigger threat than you so people won't notice you zip out behind it and start legging them until it's too late.

Oh, I personally have no qualms if people rank up with the speed of light. To elaborate on my previous post, in addition to people ranking with quickness, I have heard that the majority of players playing the game were on Nuketown, something like 150,000 out of 400,000 total spread out among the different modes. Again, I don't mind. They are playing the mode they want to play. I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the folk at Treyarch didn't like seeing all the maps they spent so long making get neglected, and this was also a bit of a snare to force people to play the "new" maps instead of the freshly-skinned Nuketown.
