I don't give a fark because we have an electoral college?

Fine, fine, now when do I get my free stuff? Do I have to go somewhere and sign for it, or will it just arrive UPS?

Even if we didn't have the Electoral College and the popular vote determined the presidency, that's still too many people voting for batshiat insane lunatics every 4 years. I'll start to get more comfortable when that number gets closer and closer to 40%.

2012-11-20 10:40:20 AM
Time for a RINO purge!! 53% of Americans rejected our northeastern liberal! Only by nominating a True Conservative can we purge the unclean from the 47% that did support us and ensure total, massive, utter victory in 2016! Half of 47% is surely equal to 400 electoral votes and a 15-point popular vote landslide. By the Power of Reagan I compel you!

Yes, that is what the song was about. She always wanted to write a song about "getting" a beej. LOL.

As of this writing, President Barack Obama is at 50.73 percent, versus Mitt Romney's 47.59.

If Romney falls to 47.49 percent of the popular vote, his total will round down to 47 percent, which would be simply delicious.

Not sure I've seen someone gloat over rounding before. Petty and pathetic.

That says a lot. Both that winning re-election isn't easy and that if not for Ross Perot, Clinton would have too.

And the first president in the modern era to be re-elected from either party with a smaller share of the vote the second time than the first time.

The point? There is none, it's a different country today than it was eighty years ago. In fact, it just makes Democrats look bad over that timeframe that they could only win re-election in years where there were strong third-party candidates.

Yes. And then danlpoon will be sponsoring a bunch of people for TF, the parties are going to come to an agreement that walks us back from the Fiscal Cliff and a long and lasting peace will be forged in the middle east.

For weeks, all I've heard from the GOP is how, as an Obama voter, my prime motivation is getting a welfare check handout from the government. And now our friends on the Right whine about petty and pathetic? Holier than thou only works if you're holier. You're not.

Imagine. If Obama were only a Republican, these results would represent a clear mandate to do whatever he wanted.

Instead, since he's a Democrat, it's only a squeaker of a victory, with no mandate. The only mandate to be found is the mandate for House Republicans to install the Romney-Ryan tax plan anyway.

And do you think it was totally random that Perot was able to achieve what he did in that election? Do you think that the quality of the Ds and Rs and the political landscape was completely inconsequential?

I'm a Democrat, liberal and two-time Obama voter. Not whining, not upset.
Just think it's stupid that anyone would try to make anything over someone getting 47.59% or 47.49% of the vote because of rounding
It's stupid, and so is anyone defending it.

I don't think anyone is "making anything" over the 47% - it's just amusing that a number the Romney campaign used as a weapon has come back to bite them in the ass. If that makes me stupid, fine. I've been called worse by better people.
