I use Chaminade all the time for my toilet paper. Much better than Scott. It's squeezably soft!

Never heard of them before, but I have to admit, I like the team name and logo.

I was a little surprised at Carolina's performance last night. Mississippi State's program is not at the level it was several years ago, and they were thin last night. I'm worried that a handful of the more rabid fans are going to start thinking it's 2006 all over again.

Why were you surprised? UNC did what it was supposed to, which is win big against an inferior team that was missing a few starters. I'd be more worried if they had lost, even though this UNC team will inevitably face more than a few hurdles...

As for Texas? The only comment I have is: Hahahahahahahaha!

Chaminade's biggest upset came 30-some years ago when it beat top-ranked Virginia.

Is that like the Generals beating the Globetrotters?

if you followed ncaa basketball the last 30 years, you'd know this team usually picks of one of the big boys every once in a while early in the season in a tournament in hawaii. their upset of a loaded UVa team with ralph sampson was probably the biggest upset of all-time.

For some background, they had a player standing on a chair so that players could work on playing against someone as tall as Sampson. And Chaminade was a school of 800 students at the time and, obviously, not even in the NCAA.

I would say they need to leave Rick Barnes in Maui, but that would be too kind.

Instead, lets see if they can change plans in Detroit & leave him there.

I expected a 25-point win, not an out-of-the-gate blowout. This team has talent, but they're young and they haven't developed a lot of chemistry.

They're so obscure that their ESPN page doesn't post their logo or win-loss record.

In 2012, Chaminade defeated the University of Texas in the opening round of the invitational. Their current record in the invitational is 7-76.

Nice.

Invite teams to Hawaii. Get them drunk on the beach, beat them when everyone's got a hangover. Profit.

There was a great article about that in SI a few years ago. One of the things I took from it was that since the game was in Hawaii, it took about a day before it got into newspapers, and a couple more days before they could watch highlights.

Arkanaut: Let's see when ESPN's website admins actually fix this.

What is there to fix? If the bosses want them to only deal with Division I programs, then they can only put in the Division I programs (there are like 330 of them in basketball). If the Division II school only has three games against Division I programs all year, then you can't really write their record normally, since they'd have a maximum record of 3-0 for the season, which is dumb. If you go and calculate their record, you have to do it for ALL Division II and you're probably getting maybe 10 clicks on any of those pages in a year, so it's not worth your time.

The real question is whether or not Hairston, Bullock, and McDonald can hit their shots consistently. Last night was the first time that they have.

When the score first came over the newswire, all they had was a score and no video or reports or anything. ESPN assumed it was a mistake.

I remember opening the Washington Post the next morning and seeing the headline. What was it, Christmas day, the day after Christmas? Oh, the days before internet and 24-hour cable sports.

I hated UVA at the time, sports-wise. My sister had just graduated from Wake. I had no idea I would end up in Charlottesville a couple years later.

Surely you know that Mississippi State has a new coach, only 6 scholarship players, and lost to Troy earlier this year right? They're horrible. Major rebuild mode. They would have been the team before the tourney I would have said Chaminade had a shot at beating.

Beating an unranked Texas team is not comparable to beating the #1 team in the country.

No, no, they were a retro 50s act that performed at Woodstock in 1969, gaining mainstream success in the 70s and helping usher in a wave of 50s nostalgia.
