No kidding, my atoms to be freed soil of Colorado after my death with no cost to anyone... beats the Kiss coffin anyday -what a bargain.

I definitely want my body to go there, once organs have been harvested. fark burial and cremation - put my shiatty body to use for once in its existence!

They've been around for ages. There's a massive one in the UK iirc.

Gotta leave the organs, but it's for a good purpose.

When I die, I want to have a small funeral, be put into an ice chest, and lowered respectfully into a grave by my juggalo family members.

This is a good thing. If I hadn't already dedicated my ashes for an artificial reef, this is where I would go.

You know, that would be a great place to hide a dead body.

/surprised that idea hasn't been used on all the TV crime shows.

jimpoz: The Tennessee Body Farm, brought to you by Stephen Fry

Huh, I had never looked up where the Body Farm was, but I figured it out within seconds of that video starting, and Google confirmed it. I must be getting used to this place.

Sweet, can we pile the rest of them on top of you before piling the dirt back on?

This. Hiding in plain sight would be a good CSI episode.

I'm signed up to go there when I'm done. I asked if donors get to see the place, take a tour. (I'm morbidly curious) they said no. :(

Yeah, My mom is going be there. Got the paper work in order. I should be there too

Freaky-deeky death science.

The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out
The worms play pinochle on your snout
They eat your eyes, they eat your nose,
They eat the jelly between your toes.
A big green worm with rolling eyes,
Crawls in your stomach and out your eyes.
Your stomach turns a slimy green,
And pus pours out like whipping cream.
You spread it out on a slice of bread,
And that's what you eat when you're dead.

I just want one of those rocket coffins to orbit around and around the earth, but it's very expensive.

That would not work very well. Each location is documented and visited regularly (which is the point of the whole thing after all). It'd be very obvious if a new fresh one showed up, or even a not so fresh one. The person putting the body out would likely be on video. Plus you're putting the body in the hands of the foremost forensic scientists in the world. They'd get an ID on the body, and if you have an connection to the person at all you'll be sitting in jail within the week.

It's like committing a crime next door to Sherlock Holmes' house. You can do it, just don't expect to get away with it.

Seaside funeral pyre. I'm already working on the permits.

I was thinking about someone dropping it from a low flying plane over the area at night

The site is only an acre, which is about the size of a football field minus the endzones. You might as well drop them in the ocean with a weight, right next to Bin Laden.

Nah, it's just the way my mind works. The more I try not to think about it the more my mind throws out different possibilites and scenarios.

I'm trying to be a writer if your must know.

I was thinking it's a good idea at the first skeleton. The one in the bin makes me reconsider.

2012-11-20 03:01:43 AM
For those thinking of donating: it's not always particularly dignified

They need data on people stuck in car trunks, barrels, under horse manure etc etc

And of course, they are keen to see the effects of mutilation and of varmint action ....

But still, who cares. It's not like you're gonna be using the corpse.

2012-11-20 03:02:55 AM
There was one of those places (not real of course) on an old episode of Law And Order.

I would sign up for that.
I have life insurance that would more than cover my funeral, but it seems like such a waste, and besides, this sounds way cooler.

I'm over 40, and as far as I know, they don't usually accept organs that old for transplant, so why not?
Hell, for that matter, taxidermy my ass, and get me some acting gigs.

My Academy Award speech wouldn't be any more boring than most of the ones you've already seen.

2012-11-20 03:05:18 AM
They respect the donors and all, but what do they do with the remains of the remains after they've got all the info out of it? Or do they let it all go by the way of complete decomp?

If that's the case, I'm all for it, provided I can't find a all natural cemetary closer than the northwest area of Florida... I can't stand the idea of enbalming or anything else, other than harvesting my organs...

The first of the Brother Cadfael series did it. Well, at least the first show. I think they were made out of order to the books...which I should read.

Actually, it was hiding a murder victim amongst a bunch of executed prisoners, but still...

They're fed to stray dogs. The skulls, are encased in Lucite, and used as bowling balls.
Larger bones such as the femur, are fashioned into collector quality sex toys.

Still, I'm OK with it.

Since the 80s I've been convinced that I want to donate my skeleton to a med school or some such. But i don't think this is the intermediate step for me.
