In other news, several millennium after the death of some very clever Egyptian architects, we still can't sort out "pavement".

I'll take that $50 in the form of Tim Horton's gift card, thanks.

How oh how did people manage to walk across the ground before the invention of pavement?

If only there were some readily available interlocking bricks people could use to conduct repairs...

Anyone who might trip and injure/kill themselves while walking and smartphoning, deserves to be injured/killed, in spite of the nature of the obstacle that "caused" it.

I think people are ignoring the real story here: the missing pylon. Where could it be? Who could have taken it? What do they intend to do with it. It should make for some interesting news in the coming days.

I don't think they compressed their underlayment adequately. Either that, or it is getting washed out somehow.

Someone should take a bag of sand, two screwdrivers and a rubber mallet out there and spend 10 minutes fixing it.

I mean, really. That could spread and take in the whole county.

In some brillant investigative reporting that only requires walking half a block in Toronto, the Star finds a single location where the interlocking sidewalk bricks have sunk....... ignoring the other half million examples across the city.

Maybe in Canada, you get sued by the city if you try that in the United States. That being said, I'd fix it before writing an article about it.

Hey now, my in-law's basement literally IS a maple syrup reserve, since they make it and use it in place of sugar most of the time (it's great in coffee). They don't look anything like that. Lordfortuna and I use it too, about a quart a week for coffee, and while I'm fat, it's not because of that.

Also all their kids (6 of them) get to steal as much as they want whenever they visit, despite none of them actually helping with the preparation for several years now... *grumble*

Most of the time, stuff gets published in The Fixer because 311 hasn't responded to complaints. It's basically public-shaming the city into doing its job.
