(Daily Kos)   Kos promises to ban people if they keep up the B.S. claim of Anonymous preventing Rove from stealing the election. Still waiting for right-wing sites to denounce their faithfuls' wacko conspiracy theories   (dailykos.com) divider line 74

TFA spreads it.

Just like all the birthers, those who want to believe will believe it no matter if you ban them. There is nothing you can do.

Its an open site IIRC. If someone has an agenda to push banning really wont do shiat on that kind of platform.

Ah. I am not versed in the arcane lore of TF.

The truth or falsehood of the Anonymous/Rove claim has no bearing on Daily Kos' misapplication of 'not even wrong'. This one does seem provable in principle.

2012-11-19 07:16:24 AM
Erick Erick Erick Erickson did the bare minimum of that last week, with a post saying that on RedState, secessionists, voter fraud allegers, and other conspiracy theorists can join birthers on the Go Pound Sand Express. And he did it by linking them to Amazon to purchase tin foil.

Aren't the right wing sites largely the source of right wing conspiracy theories?

So, Anonymous' claim has been disproven? I must've missed that.

I have no clue whether their claim is true or not, but I also have no information as to why it should be dismissed as a "conspiracy theory".

Bottom line for me is I don't really care, Karl Rove is a turd whose days are over, and the result was satisfying.

2012-11-19 07:50:11 AM
In order to get a sense for how truthful the claim is, watch for right wing originated "cybersecurity" and censorship laws, if it happened rove will be pissed and want retribution

I actually had a FB friend claim that Romney got zero votes from Philadelphia, and only 2 in all of Ohio, so there was obviously voter fraud taking place and why wasn't anyone else upset about it?

I posted links to the official voting returns from Philadelphia and Ohio and asked her was she that gullible or did she just make stuff up to manufacture fake outrage.

/Romney did get votes in Philadelphia
//and about 48% of the vote in Ohio

2012-11-19 08:00:04 AM
It is a funny conspiracy theory to think about. If it were true, imagine being a fly on the wall of the death star when Rove realizes his secret evil plan has fallen through, and the men with clubs are waiting outside the door.
Also, Lizard People at high levels of power is a funny conspiracy theory to think about.

It's really all funny to think about, and if you take any of those seriously, you're funny as well.

He made the same promise to the 9/11 troofers back during the Bush years. I used to be a frequent visitor at that time, but I never saw any troofer posts.

So you're assertion is not backed up the past.

Nope. This ain't about principled *anything*. This is a smart move for Kos, who are reviled because they are a left wing blog. Purge the crazies or the crazies are all we hear about from the right.

This is a "kill em with kindness" style move.

So how did it turn out? Did she fail to respond or did she come back to reality for a little while?

Have they released any information other than a poorly written letter? If not, there's nothing to disprove and the claim has to be treated as bullshiat.

Yes I clearly sad that both sides were bad in my post

I read this the other day. As I recall, Anonymous let Rove off with a warning...this time. That should be your first tip that the story is first rate, major league horsecrap.

2012-11-19 08:27:58 AM
Just the fact that this kind of story is believable should be a heads-up on voting laws. It should not be possible to start rumor about how easy it is to steal votes online. The fact the ohio sec. of state did an emergency patch of the ballot machines (violating state law apparently in so doing) was enough to get the wheels turning.

On the other hand one could say that crowdsourcing attempts at fraud seems to have worked to keep fraud in check, at least this time.

If I posted a one page PDF to Fark claiming I have Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny locked up in my basement would you consider that worthy of anything but a flat dismissal or suggest that further discussion of the topic was anything but a complete waste of time?

2012-11-19 08:33:31 AM
good.

If we don't stop giving so much voice to the crazy folks on both sides we aren't going to get anywhere as a country.

It would be nice for folks on the right to do things like this as well.

2012-11-19 08:37:19 AM
Surprisingly, Republicans are now concerned about voting machine vulnerabilities.

This is just BS. But it does prove one thing once again. The voting system should not be connected to the internet in any way shape or form. It should not even be connected to a phone line. Also computers should not be used in any way shape or form in the process of voting or the initial hard copies of voting results. If any electronics are used to design a voting machine then they should be hard wired discrete logic machines with no software. Link

Vegan Meat Popsicle: If I posted a one page PDF to Fark claiming I have Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny locked up in my basement ...

False equivalency. PDFs from Project Everest bear a little more weight. "Anonymous saved the election" and "voting systems are dangerously insecure" are two completely different claims many here seem intent on confusing: "If the Anonymous claim is false, voting systems must be secure."
Cman is defending Daily Kos, how much more smoke is it reasonable to ask?

That's truther logic. Says something crazy and the other side has to disprove it. It doesn't work that way. If someone has a crazy theory, they have to support it.

2012-11-19 08:48:38 AM
Not to be disrespectful but Anonymous has a long history of over estimating their capabilities and not following through on stuff they said they would do. Maybe that is because they are frequently not behind the boasts and promises made in their name.

/no offense
//please don't hurt me

Anonymous' claims are rooted in reality, even if their claim is b.s. Rove is sleazy, and perfectly capable of going to great lengths to steal elections. Many believe that the 2000 and/or 2004 were fraudulent, highly suspicious, and/or stolen.

If Anonymous thwarted Rove, awesome. If not, they're attention whores. Either way, Mittens and Ham Rove are history, so it's all good.

Good, what a load of shiat that was. Lets imagine a real scenario; say anonymous and its many arms of neckbeards prods around and actually does find hamRove burning Obama votes in a firewall or whatever and actually manage to stop him. Do you really think the most they would do is give Rove a hearty *tut tut*, leak a shadow of a story and ride off Shane-like into the sunset, satisfied that they had saved democracy for now?

No. They would have logged and screen-shotted any evidence of wrongdoing and their heroic actions, released most if not all the evidence to the public, and filed suit immediately. This isn't some episode of GI Joe where you beat the villain and then say "Let him run, he learned his lesson," no, you send him to federal farking prison.

2012-11-19 09:14:34 AM
Rove would've gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids.
