I really liked his take on homophobes. I'll paraphrase:

They aren't afraid of gay people, so we really shouldn't call them homophobes. Just call them what they are: assholes.

TwistedFark: moothemagiccow: 1-11. He's famous, gay and posts on facebook

Don't be so jealous man. Like Meatloaf said, "Two out of three aint bad."

To be fair that actually was a relatively accurate description, although I would add in twitter.

The main thing is what he posts is usually awesome, entertaining, or both. He is willing to do completely ridiculous things like the Geisha things and has a good time doing it. He seems to get joy out of just about everything even the minor things and that is something that everyone would be better off for if they could do the same.

He just seems to be a hell of a nice, funny, honest and worthwhile dude all around; the sort you don't even need to be gay or gay-friendly to recognize, even when that's an "issue". There are certain people you don't have to meet in person to realize that they're the real deal, and he's one of them. I really, really like George.

tgambitg: Zombalupagus: 12) His farkin' voice.

Am I the only one that thinks he has a redonkulously awesome voice? I'm really surprised he never got any voice work after doing Star Trek. He could easily do villains, a la Vincent Price, or commercials, or what-have-you.

He's done a HUGE amount of voice work, check out his IMDB...

Same as Mark Hammil, stupid amounts of VA work but a lot of people think he did Skywalker (or Sulu in Takei's case) and that was it for him.

/He'll always be my childhood Joker.

Also, for anyone using them, you are doing yourselves a disservice if you aren't following his Twitter and his FaceBook Page. Lots of good stuff. :)

fredbox: My encounter was with James Doohan, who was even drunker than I was.

I almost killed DeForest Kelley once. About 15 years ago a pedestrian walked in front of me against the light in front of the Palliser Hotel in Calgary. As I leaned angrily on the horn at the elderly gentleman, he turned and gave an apologetic wave. I wasn't 100% sure at first, but I really thought it was "Bones" himself. The next morning, he appeared on the local morning TV coffee-fest, and sure enough, he was in town for some sort of conference. I must be cursed, because recently (about a year ago), I almost did the same thing to Rex Murphy (a Canadian news commentator of some note) in front of the Westin hotel in the same city. He didn't wave.

Okoboji: One of the things that makes him so cool is he isn't standoffish. He genuinely comes across as a very down to earth person who knows he's been the butt (no pun intended) of a lot of jokes and just runs with it.

I met him many, many years ago on the autograph line at a convention, and the man truly loves to talk
to the fans and always has something to say to them. He doesn't just sit there and robotically sign
his name. He also will hang out with the fans as much as possible (though I'm sure the crowds he draws
often makes that impractical).

Huck And Molly Ziegler: Wait, wait ... I thought Neil Patrick Harris was the best damned person on the planet ...

Hmmm....

NPH, living with his elderly (sorry George) adoptive gay father, raising an adopted boy who is also gay.
We'll call the show "Gay"

Book it, Fox!

GT is a really nice guy. I got to meet him a while ago at one Star Trek con. Shatner is just full of himself, but Takei knows how to make fun of himself.

He does have one of the most interesting lives ever. Almost nobody on the planet is ever going to top him.

So to speak.

As a straight woman, I would be happy to trade Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and George Clooney to have George Takei trade teams.

I usually don't like these kind of things but this one was well done.

Not sure what the Thoreal ad had to do with George but I appreciated it's addition.
