If you really think that different races intermingling and same-sex couples being treated as human beings and American citizens = "the end of Western Civilization", then you really are farked in the head.

Women being allowed to vote and be treated as equals was also decried as being "the end of Western Civilization". Automobiles were decried as "the end of Western Civilization". Disco was decried as "the end of Western Civilization". Guess what? America is still here. It's still the most free country, despite people like you trying their best to turn it into shiat.

In the 1960s I lived for a few years with my grandparents. My grandfather was a professor of sociology, and he had a huge library of social sciences books, which I was allowed to peruse. There were dozens and dozens of books about how moral standards were collapsing in the 1950s, and how homosexuals were starting (in a minimal way) to live in a less concealed manner, and to demand some small rights.

The culture of the 1950s was hugely exaggerated with hysteria about comic books, pool halls, jalopies, the mischief that could happen at sock hops and even ice cream social parties. Boy teens were seen as potential hoodlums, slouching through suburbia in their narrow jeans and leather jackets and hair pomade. Depravity!!

Basically, the guy who wrote TFA is full of shiat. The 50s and 60s were not some Golden Age, they had lots of problems. He should watch "Blackboard Jungle" sometime, or the movie "Naked City", or some more film noir. It was all quite sinister.

I Know, right. My other favorite is the absurd "love is love" nonsense.

Yeah, and what about that bigoted hatred is bigoted hatred codswallop?

Serious? I don't think the proponents are bigoted, or full of hatred, I think they're well-intended yet misguided, while lacking the ability to think about the future. they'll cause some trouble in the short term, but in the long run, everything will come back to normal.

My ma used to brag about how I could tell someone to go to Hell and that person would need to read the dictionary to figure out that I'd told them where to go. Now, she was of course overstating it, and she never had the class to tell me this to my face, but, like, whatever. That was her opinion, man.

I still have a paperback thesaurus I bought when I was in high school. Damned nifty thing. Everyone should have one, plus The Elements of Style, by Strunk & White.

I am not sure if I really want to click on the farticle link, but from what quotes I've read in the thread it seems this overclocked howler monkey has simultaneously jackhammered both a 1913 Oxford Dictionary [remember those giant 40-pound hardbound behemoths??] and a large hardback thesaurus so far up its ass that it's tasting bookbinder's glue in the back of its throat.

RyogaM: So, how do you get these homosexuals to learn their place?

Well, we could start by stop pretending their "marriages" are valid. After that, I think a few "health and welfare" inspections of homosexual clubs on suspicions of drug use and "immoral activities" and other areas where they congregate should make their lives uncomfortable. That would be a good start.

Love how you denied then confirmed that it is about being treated equally. This is America, farknut, where the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence all say that "All men are created equal". Not "Only those I think are worthy are equal". coyo: Since when do conservatives give a fark about erosion? I thought that was hippy dippy environmental shiat.

What I don't understand is why they value "Western Civilization", as one poster referenced. These people are constrained, and oppressed by civilization. It's leveling effects force them to tolerate and support their inferiors, and sucks away their essence to succor the mediocre. i would think they would prefer to abolish it - and I'm down with that. There is no reason why a superior individual like our poster here needs civilization. He is, after all, a PRODUCER. And all civilization does is force him to live on an equal basis with moochers, parasites, liberals, women, and queers. Why would he value "Western Civilization"?
I have a proposal for these superior individuals - lets get rid of it. Lets just shiatcan the whole thing, and end this injustice. Disband the armies and police forces. Let's tear down the welfare offices, schools, and jails. Let everyone have that most precious of treasures - individual liberty. No more rules, or laws, or cops to enforce them. Just free men, living by their wits, finally free to exhibit he excellence that the mediocrity of "civilization" stifles.
And then, there would be no more doubt. We will find out. Find out who is weak, and who is strong. Find out who is a producer, and who a parasite. Find out who is really normal or abnormal, superior or inferior. Surely, you manly, individualistic Galtian superheroes can build a new world, once all those "inferiors" have been dealt with.
Perhaps they secretly fear that their soft, pale, pudgy little asses would get eaten alive in the first five minutes. But hey - I think it would be worth it just to find out how tough these "superior" individuals really are. and how inferior all these "parasites" they bemoan really aren't.
Sounds like fun, to me.

And you think that will get the homosexuals to quiet down and stop demanding their rights? Pretending that the relationships they cultivate are not valid, and harassing them in public places and private clubs? That will do it, you think? They'll just stop being openly gay and go back in the closet? You do realize you are speaking about grown men and women, fellow Americans and tax payers you are suggesting we should harass, right?

No, whatever. I suggest there is nothing stopping you right now from putting your ingenious plan into action. Go an head on down to the nearest gay bar, or club or whatever, and start letting them know that you personally view their relationships, whether they are married legally or not, as invalid. Bring some friends, and try to enlist the police in finding all that illicit activity. Start your crusade, enlist the Westboro Baptists folks and try to harass all those gays into knowing their place, that you have decided for them.  I'll watch.

It's very much the issue. It certainly was up here when the courts struck down language limiting legal marriage to hetero couples only. We're doing fine. The sky hasn't fallen, society hasn't collapsed upon itself, and children aren't being raped in the streets by gangs of rampaging homos and dykes. Things got better for millions of people. What in God's name is an "immoral activity"? And who cares what you think? Didn't the concept of "Mind your own business" ever come up when you were being raised? Here's the deal, you can go to church and sing your songs or whatever the hell you do there and I can go to clubs and do whatever the hell I do there. As long as nobody is hurt and it's between consenting adults it's none of my business if you partake in symbolic cannibalism every Sunday but mind your own business. That's not a suggestion, it's a warning. Nosy people frequently get their noses broken.

GF named my left testicle thundercles: i know that this is a hate thread and that i will probably get yelled at but i think there is some truth to this article. families are becoming a thing of the past and that is a huge problem because families are what create human capital. what percentage of children are raise in single mother homes? 40% or something? and they have a huge chance of turn out to be worthless members of society. Its the kind of thing that, through entropy accumulated over generations, can bring down empires.

What brings down empires is when their societies becomes stratified between the haves and have nots with little chance for social mobility. Those on the bottom rung or those that are separated via being labeled "worthless" make the sound decision to not support "the empire". Why should they support an institution that does nothing for them but oppress them? The Republican party and conservatives in general are engaged in some sort of Reductio ad absurdum in which they are are actually the promulgators of a collapsed American Empire by trying to preserve those very institutions and ideals which would eventually cause it's collapse.. and blaming the left for taking action that actually preserves said empire.

You sir are a snake in a tree.

OR PERHAPS THE PROBLEM IS IT"S OWN PROBLEM

The Taste of Banzo's Sword

Matajuro Yagyu was the son of a famous swordsman. His father, believing that his son's work was too mediocre to anticipate mastership, disowned him.

So Matajuro went to Mount Futara and there found the famous swordsman Banzo. But Banzo confirmed the father's judgment. "You wish to learn swordsmanship under my guidance?" asked Banzo. "You cannot fulfill the requirements."

"But if I work hard, how many years will it take me to become a master?" persisted the youth.

"The rest of your life," replied Banzo.

"I cannot wait that long," explained Matajuro. "I am willing to pass through any hardship if only you will teach me. If I become your devoted servant, how long might it be?"

"Oh, maybe ten years," Banzo relented.

"My father is getting old, and soon I must take care of him," continued Matajuro. "If I work far more intensively, how long would it take me?"

"Oh, maybe thirty years," said Banzo.

"Why is that?" asked Matajuro. "First you say ten and now thirty years. I will undergo any hardship to master this art in the shortest time!"

"Well," said Banzo, "in that case you will have to remain with me for seventy years. A man in such a hurry as you are to get results seldom learns quickly."

"Very well," declared the youth, understanding at last that he was being rebuked for impatience, "I agree."

Matajuro was told never to speak of fencing and never to touch a sword. He cooked for his master, washed the dishes, made his bed, cleaned the yard, cared for the garden, all without a word of swordsmanship.

Three years passed. Still Matajuro labored on. Thinking of his future, he was sad. He had not even begun to learn the art to which he had devoted his life.

But one day Banzo crept up behind him and gave him a terrific blow with a wooden sword.

The following day, when Matajuro was cooking rice, Banzo again sprang upon him unexpectedly.

After that, day and night, Matajuro had to defend himself from unexpected thrusts. Not a moment passed in any day that he did not have to think of the taste of Banzo's sword.

He learned so rapidly he brought smiles to the face of his master. Matajuro became the greatest swordsman in the land.

Dear Dr. Laura American 'Thinker':

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted fan,
SLITG

To me this just comes down to people attempting to justify their bigotry. They have no grounds in our constitution to push their radicalized religious agenda, since we are free from the tyranny of church in public life (and indeed, there are religious institutions in the USA that will happily marry a gay couple).

So all that leaves them with is grasping for any way to justify illegally denying property and estate rights to individuals.

Good luck with that. You can "fight till the last bitter breath" all you want, but when you're wrong. You are wrong.

Glad to see so many people have so much free time on their hands to waste all of our time putting up with them...

I thought the koan was a metaphor for the bowling alley sequence in "The Big Lebowski" - but you're probably right.

dstanley: American "Thinker" is abusive to my intelligence.

American "Thinker" is a Fark-sponsored parody troll site whose every post is auto-greenlit by Drew Curtis's Fark.com's derpmins, apparently on the theory that what American public discourse sorely lacks is yet even more perfunctory retarded insincere inflammatory butthole-fingering low-grade needling screed.

Don't take it too seriously.

Drew and his admins are just assholes that way.
