(Some Guy)   So Christopher Lloyd is in one cheesy movie, and that means that he "Ended up in B movie Hell"? How can Subby get a successful website making crappy lists? Deslidified for your enjoyment   (deslide.clusterfake.net) divider line 96

Lloyd also appeared in the Oogieloves movie this year, which by some estimates, is the biggest flop in motion picture history. Link

He's been in some much-loved blockbuster movies.

But he's also been in a LOT of crappy movies.

A LOT.

Star Trek 3 was not cheesy.

Subby, name the last movie with Christopher Lloyd in a major role that was good, advertised his name, or that you even saw.

2012-11-18 10:20:25 AM
My memory of Carrie-Ann Moss is still coasting on her in her skin tight clothes in The Matrix. But she is really great in Memento. I thought on that performance alone that she would stay a big Hollywood star.

2012-11-18 10:25:03 AM
Wasn't Lloyd in Buckaroo Banzai? It's the role model cheesy B movies aspire to be

2012-11-18 10:25:43 AM
their Jennifer Lopez entry seems to be completely at odds with the rest of the list, even by their own admission....

2012-11-18 10:27:31 AM
hell, Christopher Lee's presence on the list seems to hinge solely on one 80s movie...

2012-11-18 10:29:05 AM
Christopher Lloyd has worked consistently for the last thirty years. I suspect that he's not taking roles at this point because he needs the money, but rather because he like working, and a low-budget flick is always going to be less of a time commitment than a big-budget picture.

On the other hand, David Hasselhoff has NEVER been in a good movie; he's not "fallen from grace" so much as slid sideways into the slough of despair.

i see theres nothing to add

The real question is how the author thought Jaleel White, David Hasselhoff, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Linda Blair and David Arquette had much of a perch to fall from to begin with.

2012-11-18 10:34:21 AM
Ain't no shame in working.

to be fair, Linda Blair was in the Excorcist.

Star Trek 3 was not cheesy.

Lloyd's acting was hitting nacho level in that thing

The toughest to include as she great in that, Edward Furlong might have been the better choice given how badly he squandered all the shots he got.

He was in Hammer horror movies and the Wicker Man as well. If anything, I'd say his career has been an upward arc from "complete hack" to "Bond villian" to "serious actor" over the course of 50+ years.

/Somewhere on Netflix there's a documentary about Sherlock Holmes Lee presented in the 1980s. It's not only terrible, it's one of the worst things I've ever seen any "good" actor in. It honestly looks like they drove around London in Lee's own personal car, randomly doing setups wherever the police wouldn't bother them.

Came here to say this.

Sometimes stars use B Movies to change their "type". That great horrible monstrosity that is Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li is a great example. Everyone in that movie plays against their type and most would go on to do better things.

Interesting that so many here think that being in one good movie (L. Blair) or a number but then deciding to be in crap (C. Lloyd) means they are still 'A' list actors.

They aren't.

I like Lloyd but he has been in nothing but garbage for over 10 years now.

And what Blair appeared in that was even half-way decent other than The Exorcist?

Entertainment reporting always is overly nitpicky and biatchy. I often wonder how far must a reporter fall to get that duty.

yeah, his and De Niro's career, while not as awful as some of TFA's entries, are not anywhere near as great as they were in the 70s or 80s.

I would add Leslie Neilsen to TFA's list though. it seems like he never turned down any awful Airplane!/Naked Gun knock off that wasn't handed to him.

I don't begrudge anyone making a buck. It's easy to say "You should be poor and wait for the good roles to come around" if you're not the one who is poor and waiting for the good roles to come around. Now if you're really rich and still do crappy movies with the word "Fokkers" in the title, well......

Give Christopher Lloyd credit for one thing: he had nothing to do with the filming of Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2.

Jon Voight, on the other hand...

No really though, Star Trek 3 had a lot of things going for it.

The first Bird of Prey, which would be used through TNG
Doc Brown as a Klingon
that big breasted Klingon girl
stealing the Enterprise
blowing up the Enterprise
...etc

yeah, I've never understood the hate (or at least the implication of the "odd Star Trek films = crap" narrative) for Star Trek 3. It's certainly held up better than the 4th film.

This. There aren't a lot of a-list roles for a septuagenarian. He probably prefers to have work instead of sit around on his ass all day.

Ah, Christopher Lloyd. Such a sad case. I believe somewhere around 1994 is the dividing line between when he did good stuff and when he did crap punctuated by the occasional special guest appearance.

douchebag/hater: Interesting that so many here think that being in one good movie (L. Blair) or a number but then deciding to be in crap (C. Lloyd) means they are still 'A' list actors.

They aren't.

I like Lloyd but he has been in nothing but garbage for over 10 years now.

And what Blair appeared in that was even half-way decent other than The Exorcist?

Star Trek 3 is much maligned. It was better than any of the TNG movies at least.

What the hell is wrong with you people? Star Trek 3 wasn't bad, but no way does it compare to First Contact. ST3 suffered from a serious pacing problem in the second half.

So, I finally broke down and watched the first one. Not bad, really crappy editing, cool premise though.

Been hearing for years how bad the second one is, though the synopsis on IMDb sounds pretty cool.

Is it worth even watching if I wanted to watch the whole series just to say that I did, or would that be an incredibly foolish use of 1.5 to 2 hours?

How can Subby get a successful website making crappy lists? Deslidified for your enjoyment

don't bother. successful websites making "crappy lists" are actually run by real people trying to make a living and relying on certain factors on the web to get them enough hits to make ad revenue to pay their staff.

when you 'deslidify' something you're not only satisfying a small group of losers who live in their mother's basements and find it SOOO time consuming to click "next" in between bong hits and to satisfy your own whiny hipster "oh my god I have to click "next" to see more, but in actuality you're screwing said website.

if you don't like slideshows, then don't submit links or visit sites that post them or maybe upgrade from dial-up. it's that simple. there's already enough people out of work in this country.

If clicking entertainment links and articles is so tough on you to have to click "next page" for a few slideshows maybe you shouldn't be hanging around the entertainment tab so much.

It's amazing how many Farkers piss and moan about the websites that submit stories to Fark under the entertainment category (and that their mods subsequently greenlight) yet they keep coming back every single day to see what's new in the entertainment tab.

yeah, I said it.

These are mostly B-list actors anyway. But show me any actor who's never been in more than one forgettable, crappy movie, and I'll show you an actor who's never been in more than one movie. So, for example, we get Robert Deniro in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinklle, Meet the Fokkers, Analyze That. While these aren't all considered B-movies, they aren't considered good ones, either. Anyone remember Meryl Streep in Death Becomes Her? Anyone remember Death Becomes Her? She was also in She-Devil, It's Complicated, Mama Mia, and a bunch of other big movies that weren't considered very good. Go to IMDB and look up any great actor or actress and see how many movies they've been in that were crap or that you've never heard of before. That doesn't necessarily make them bad actors or even hacks, it's just the nature of the movie business.

That said, most of the people on subby's list are crappy actors. Sorry.

IMDB says 274 acting credits, so probably. Those folks at Hammer Films could really crank them out.

Of course there's no way to filter out TV stuff. And that's not considering foreign language (Bollywood, HK stuff, etc) actors or porn stars. Peter North has over 1,600 "acting" credits.

Not only that, but some of these people do movies for the fun of the role, not because of the paycheck. Hell, George Clooney does coffee commercials for some Swiss company so that he can still live comfortably, but do any low-budget/indie film that he likes the role for. I don't think Lloyd is doing it because he's irrelevant, or feels that he is. I think he just does it because he has fun doing that for a living.
