Genius, though I don't think that would work in the Middle East.

I do not think that would work for a DUI checkpoint...

Didn't we green this thing quite some time ago?

He took his sweet time. I lived in a border town for a year and change adding to my degree. Crossing into the Canadian side was almost never longer than "Anything to declare?" "Nope." "Okie, have a good one." Five to seven seconds.

Granted, the US side was slower, but still usually 30-45 seconds without any asshattery on my part.

/ Being a 'mature student' with ties to the area has its perks.
// Hehehe, some of my former classmates, on the other hand, had their cars searched about as often as not.

This isn't a US or Canadian border crossing, otherwised he's tased and crying like a biatch.

Too bad the copy didn't shoot him as soon as he brought out that terrorist training manual.

I like this guy's style. Wonder if it were a mexico to usa checkpoint and he had copious amounts of mexican rx in the vehicle. I mean, I've never done it - but I gotta figure there's simply too much traffic for them to be surgically accurate on each vehicle....

Genius! I wonder if it works with a Quran....

I think this is one of the border patrol checkpoints they set up a few miles north of the border in places like AZ or CA. If so, he would have gotten through quicker if he just said "yes" when asked if he was a US citizen. Of course that only works if you don't look Mexican or answer with a Spanish accent.

Sounded like a Washington/British Columbia checkpoint to me. In which case, yes - people in Washington REALLY are not used to that religious nutbag bullshiat and it's very uncomfortable for them.

That said, he's lucky I wasn't his border guard. Anyone trying to distract me like that, especially with the idea that religious people are less likely to do Bad Things, would make me immediately suspect. I'd probably have had him step out of the car and stay silent, and ordered a full search of the vehicle because of his suspicious behavior.

That looks like one of the checkpoints they have on highways in the SW. It never takes me more than 10 sec to get through. I just answer yes to the American citizen question.

2012-11-18 01:18:54 PM
Hmmm that seems a lot longer than. Anything to declare ... nope ... thank you, have a nice day to me. If it were me though, crazy shiat like that is just asking to be detained and searched.

Alright, but what if the officer is a fundy and wants to talk religion with you? Seems like there is appreciable risk you will you sink some time into discussing religion with some bible thumper, and that isn't a chance I'd want to take.

Oh, this guy. He tried it at another checkpoint, and promptly got beaten/tazed.

That took about 20 seconds longer than if he had just said "yes".

Yes, this guy's checkpoint videos are fun, but actually this guy is a total farkwad.

He's a raving ultra-fundamentalist pastor, who thinks gays should be executed, and that they should be hated and murdered.

Not exaggerating.

Well that takes any entertainment value it might have had out of it. I thought he was just pretending to be a wacky fundy to get through a checkpoint, in which case I could give him some credit for his acting, but there is no acting involved if you really are a douchy bible thumper.

Yeah, that wouldn't work in Israel. It took me three hours to get through a checkpoint there.

going the other way, if you leave mr. jackson at the border, you can cut that time in half.

That was needlessly complicated for a border patrol checkpoint. Apparently the guy who made the video is counting on a large portion of the population not having ever gone through one of those. Having gone through them a great number of times over my life I can tell you that it's totally normal to get through just as fast, if not faster, and with less effort by just answering the one question they ask and continuing on.

Just wait for one to ask "If you had to burn either a flag, or a bible, which would you choose?" That happens at any southern crossing, and you're spending the night sleeping on a board...

looks like the leaving California, "do you have any fruit or live plants?" car check.....
