Except the evidence indicates it wasn't suicide.

GreenAdder: I wonder if people would still idolize Cobain if he was on the wrong side of 40 with the same routine. Would he wind up reviled like Corgan, or inexplicably revered like Graffin?

I think if he could've avoided trying to replicate previous successes Nirvana could've put out a lot more great music. For me, their albums were all really frenetic. Then came Unplugged in NY. Granted a lot of the songs weren't Nirvana, but the mood of that album really embodied what Kurt came to be known for.

The evolution of their music could've been a really great thing as he matured, calmed down and came to terms with his brokenness for the sake of his daughter.

Or it could've been complete ass as he turned into a joke of his former self trying to play Heart Shaped Box in 2010 for a bunch of parents who found sitters for the evening and wanted to pretend they were still cool. Who knows. I just wish there were more Unplugged in NY albums. His voice really captured the tortured and broken psyche thing for me.

You can say this about anyone in music that died young. I think Nirvana would be in the same place as their rival Pearl Jam is now. I also doubt Cobain would have ever done anything as terrible as Zwan.

I also think that Cobain dying was as bad for mainstream alternative rock as Tupac and Biggie dying was bad for mainstream hip hop. It's probably why indie rock and underground/alternative hip hop became so popular since the last decade.

Cobain had a gift that is under appreciated.

Liturgical mimicry. It's exceedingly hard to nail down as an exact description, but Nirvana almost thrive on it. Also; no one ever gives Dave Grohl credit for implementing many "' 'Eavy Fu'in Meddle" drum aspects that gives the INCREDIBLY depressing lyrics that sense of impatience and rebellion...

now, Dave, with that said...

...WHERE'S OUR SECOND 'PROBOT' ALBUM?!

mental illness can take you there. things can get so bad suicide appears the better choice. if your medication is not right it makes things so much worse. madness takes it toll. i suspect many people with mental illness came from one or both parents also afflicted. i hope some day mentally ill people are sterilized young, before they reproduce, like it used to be. no one wants to be cray cray, or have the cray cray raising you. it pisses me off that mankind does not take responsibility with this, that we do not have medical professionals do what is ultimately best for society. speaking from personal experience.
