GreenAdder: I wonder if people would still idolize Cobain if he was on the wrong side of 40 with the same routine. Would he wind up reviled like Corgan, or inexplicably revered like Graffin?

Or maybe he would have grown and matured as an artist, and gone on to do things that ...

I think he could have. Except for Frank Black/The Pixiesh his influences managed to evolve and stay relevant. If he used heroes like Steve Albini and Bob Mould as a template he probably wouldn't have stayed in the limelight but he'd be less pathetic than STP/Alice In Chains/Pearl Jam cranking out greatest hits for toolbags nostalgic for 1994 again..
