I'm clearly battling a drug addiction despite the absence of drugs.

If you add in the slamming of a bedroom door and accusations of parents trying to ruin their lives then yes.

Back when I was into psychedelics I always wanted to try 2CI but getting it seemed shady. I'd rather shroom or roll or something, but these days I'd rather have a few beers and/or a joint/blunt/bowl.

Natural hormones must be some pretty strong drugs. My teen hits most of those without the aid of any other substances.

I took 2C-I before it was actually illegal. It was pretty awesome actually.

Obligatory

There is something that is like 2C-I, but is not 2C-I, but has a similar name that is incredibly brain-damagingly dangerous, however, so there's that. Its not one of the 2C series though. I'll have to look up what the not-so-good one is ...

The fact that I partook of the devil weed in high school/college means a) my kids will have a pretty difficult time getting over on me and b) I won't over-react when I catch them.

And c) since we are in Colorado it might be a moot point.

/30 years later still trying to convince my mom that recreational smoking of marijuana does not necessarily lead to lying in the gutter with a needle sticking out your arm.

These new drugs creep me out. All I had as a kid was pot, mushrooms, and some good ol' fashioned LSD and I turned out just fine.

Wow, this brings back bad memories. I was the oldest kid in my family by 6 years so I got the joy of being my parents' first teenager. After reading stupid shiat articles like this one they decided I MUST be doing drugs. I ended up getting dragged to a non-voluntary treatment facility for a week-long 'evaluation' period.

Basically they keep you there for a week, wearing hospital gowns and robes, treat you like half hospital mental ward patient and half prisoner, and try to find evidence that you have a drug or alcohol problem. If they do, you get to be locked up for an additional 30 days of treatment. Sad thing was that I was 13 and had never even seen marijuana in real life before. I had tried a little alcohol, but nothing major by that point (unless sneaking a wine cooler counts as major). It is a really weird and uncomfortable place to be if you HAVEN'T used drugs. You are surrounded by people with actual drug addictions who have done serious shiat. All day, every day, you get asked questions by the staff like, "When was the first time you smoked a joint?" and if your answer is, "I haven't ever smoked weed," they tell you to "get honest" and that you won't get better unless you tell the truth. They operate on the idea that your parents would never have brought you there if you didn't have a problem so it really sucks if you are telling the truth because nobody believes you.

The best part was the intervention. They bring in your family, some friends, a counselor, and a few of your fellow inmates to talk about why they think you have a problem and you can't say anything. Had to listen to my parents describing how they knew I was using drugs because I had become moody, reclusive, stubborn, and would sometimes act very happy and other times be quiet and withdrawn (hello, teenage hormones!).

At the end of the week, after being terrified the whole time that I was going to be told that they wanted to keep me for another month, they finally released me. When I asked one of the counselors why she was finally accepting that I hadn't used drugs she said she hadn't, that she knew I was a user but that she knew I would never cooperate with the program so it would be a waste of time trying to help me. All this because I would never admit to using any drugs. Kinda hard to do when you haven't ever used any....

Anywho, my parent's apologized by buying me a pet rabbit that was waiting for me in their car when I got out (sure, that fixed ALL of our problems), and I made sure to go out and try some of those nice drugs that I learned about in rehab. :)

Figured if I was going to do the time, I might as well...you know.

It sucks when your parents think the worst of you doesn't it. If it was up to my stepmother I probably would have been sent through the same crap you were. But thank god my father actually knew what real dope fiends were like, and knew what teens were like, and made her back off of me.

Those are signs that your teenager is possessed by a hyena spirit.

Giles: Xander's taken to teasing the less fortunate?

Buffy: Uh-huh.

Giles: And, there's been a noticeable change in both clothing and
demeanor?

Buffy: Yes.

Giles: And, well, otherwise all his spare time is spent lounging about
with imbeciles.

Buffy: It's bad, isn't it.

Giles: It's devastating. He's turned into a sixteen-year-old boy.

I caught my kid holding a bunch of drugs so I sat him down to talk some sense with him. I told the apple of my eyes if he ever tried to hold out me, I'd kill his worthless ass. What's the good in raising a teenager if he won't share his dealer with you?

2012-11-17 08:46:45 PM
Yeah, my parents had no experience with raising teens, plus they weren't terribly good at actual parenting. I think they were hoping they could just drop me off there and then pick me up later and I'd be 'fixed.' If there had been some sort of teen bootcamp thing available at the time they probably would have sent me there, too.

I was a pretty big brat when I hit my teens, plus I had been moved across the country and dumped into a new school where I was picked on a lot so I definitely was a moody teenager. My younger sisters were worse in a lot of ways than I was, but by then my parents had sort of figured out that teenagers are supposed to be that way and none of them got dragged off to rehab.

Wow, that means I was either a teenager or using drugs as early as age five.
