To paraphrase Richard IV in Blackadder the first, "Wrong, Bean was childish and sad from the start."

Dear Mr. Atkinson,

Mr. Bean is funny. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have heard of you.

Thank you for your time,
A fan

Apos: "It's obvious and sad."

How I wish Tyler Perry had said would say this vis-a-vis his Madea minstrelsy.

Whereas the first time I saw "House", I was saying, "Wow, that's Prince George!"

Same here. I think the fact he can play both characters shows just how talented he really is. Not to mention, his American accent is flawless.

I thought his Mr. Bean performance at the Olympics was hysterical. That said, I agree with everyone else; bring back Blackadder. I have laughed so hard during Blackadder episodes that I've nearly thrown up. I love showing episodes of Blackadder the Third to people and saying, "See that dorky guy playing Prince George? That's House. Yes, Dr. House. No, I'm not lying. Seriously, that's Hugh Laurie. No really, it is."

"Mr. Bean" was one of the great moments in physical comedy. Not every gag worked, but Atkinson pulled off most of them.

I'll agree with that, but wasn't Mr. Bean done with anyway? I thought the series ended years ago and it's been a number of years since the movie. Were people actually hoping for another one? BTW, I thought the movie sucked compared to the TV shows anyway.

It's not like the Marx brothers never did slapstick. Hell, their mirror bit is one of the classic slapstick moments in history. And the Stooges did a lot of wordplay and one-liners, even as they specialized in the physical comedy.

1. Blackadder

2. Stand-up

3. Mr. Bean

in that order.

Apparently you associate with some rather moronic people.

I recall the first time I watched Jeeves and Wooster, squinted for half a tick, and exclaimed "it's Dr. House!"

Agreed with everyone above... the world needs another Blackadder series. If nothing else, just to get Fry and Laurie together again on-screen (why did we never get Fry or Atkinson on House - even as one-scene clinic patients?).

Slaxl: I thought you guys loved it, I never met anyone here who liked Mr Bean into adultivity so I assumed there was some big foreign market he was playing to.

I always assumed it was simply a children's show on your side, and never intended for any adults.

Englebert Slaptyback: Dumb slapstick is best slapstick.

Quite right.

Sometimes, you need filet mignon.

Sometimes, you need an unapologetically greasy burger.
