You didn't read the article, did you? It's simply the Netflix CEO saying there is a barrier to entry and that Amazon is their best competitor so far.

Okay, that's it...I'm selling my Facebook stock to buy Netflix!

If there is one thing Amazon needs to do and fast, they need to improve the way that people browse Amazon Prime content on devices like the Roku. It's so disorganized and terrible that some things cannot be found by browsing, they must be text searched. Can it be done?

Yep. Go to the Amazon pay-per-view section, and shows are suddenly well organized, multiple seasons under one heading (whoda thunk it?), stuff is where you'd think it should be, you don't see the same thing multiple times in a menu, etc.

It's a slap in the face to people who are paying for this service too, Bezos. Get the fark on it.

They are probably just going to beat them to death in Jeff Bezos's personal bowling alley after drinking their milkshake.

Granted, I'm about to make a comment on the xbox 360 interface, but Netflix's app is a hot farking mess too.

yeah, if I don't finish watching something in one sitting it is borderline impossible to find it again and resume watching it.

I think I've watch about three shows on Amazon Prime Instant Video.

Most of the shows I want to watch are not free there, but are often free at Netflix. And their player is ugly. And I really like Amazon too, but Amazon Prime Instant Video seems to be a lot of bait and switch. That said, Netflix's content is pretty lousy too.

Considering they posted a $274 million net loss for 2012 Q3, in large part to the buyout of LivingSocial, that would be extremely stupid.

Before they go around making any new major acquisitions they might want to do something really crazy like ... I dunno ... run a profit.

Read the Article. What is the purpose of him making these comments? -Do you think it was to say "hi" to a new neighbor in his marketplace? Or do you think he was bringing up this barrier issue to Amazon's investors?

Meh, Amazon took seven years to book its first operating profit. Bezos is used to losing money hand-over-fist. It's one reason Amazon is the giant it is today. He has the stones to find people to invest in a company so unprofitable that the IRS starts disallowing business expenses (I think you have to turn a profit every 5 years or something according to the IRS website).

Amazon will be propped up by the studios regardless, as they are desperate to avoid having an iTunes situation for videos. If Prime starts to decline, they'll figure out a way to get Amazon licenses to compete with Netflix. The media syndicate will do whatever it takes to make sure there isn't the convenient one-stop-shop that most consumers want.

Xbox Live and Skydrive are actually pretty farkin' awesome as far as online services go. Skydrive in particular is a really nice cloud service. I needed to upload and share 11 GB worth of HD quality video for a project at work and Skydrive handled it like a champ.

Yep. I bought a new Panasonic Blu-Ray player just to have the Amazon Instant Video capability - just as I was nearly set up with my Mac feeding to the HDTV.

There is a Watchlist for Amazon Instant Video on the web, but you can't access it using the Amazon Instant application on a device.

Bezos won't buy netflix. He won't have to. Amazon will just steamroll over netflix, which can't happen soon enough.

Now that they have figured out how to let a user easily manage and "store" selected titles, it's just a matter of time and Netflix knows it.

the article -i- read sounded like the netflix ceo gloating that he IS the barriers to entry for amazon.

sucks for both of them that neither of them produce what they sell, and i as the consumer have absolutely no loyalty to one distribution chain vs another. have fun winning this fight, i'm sure the gains will be lasting.

I was about to say: Amazon is spending a billion a year on content: they don't need Netflix: to buy it would to be buying the same content twice. And don't forget: a billion a year isn't a large sum to Bezos... he just did 48 billion in sale last year: he'll just keep buying content until he owns everything. he has an unlimited supply of cash... he can just keep going until netflix is irrelevant.
