Look, it's a thread full of hipsters who only watch BBC.

I liked that one episode when they were building a bike and some parts didn't come in on time and they were'nt sure if they would complete it before the deadline and then they had an argument, but the bike somehow got finished in time for the unveling and the customer was happy.

I never saw that one. Did you see the one where the old guy yelled and threw something and the other guy yelled back and the fat guy stared at the camera and shook his head?

When I was this lame ass BBQ joint near Kansas Speedway I knew they jumped the shark tank.

slayer199: Happy Hours: Blue collar my ass. They're a bunch of spoiled farks.

Paul Sr is worth $15 million, Junior is worth $10 million. Even the do-nothing Mikey is worth $2 million according to Celebrity Net Worth. Hell, even the more famous guys in their shops are worth a couple million each.

They may have blue collar jobs, but they aren't living a blue collar lifestyle.

How much is Cody worth?

They were dead to me the moment they got rid of Vinnie.

I like the one where they decide to blow off some steam by going somewhere or doing something vaguely wacky in a blue collar sort of way.

FuryOfFirestorm: MrHappyRotter: That one asshole son is actually hot if you put the TV on mute and pretend he's not having a regular temper tantrums.

Agreed. He's some a nice pair of DSLs.

I want to bone both him and his dad (separately, or at the same time - I'm not picky)

The other son with the Weird Al hair can watch, but that's it.

Did you see the episode where Vinnie and Paul Jr. referred to each other as cubs?

Giggity.

So how come there no black people work at OCC ?

Get bike project, Father and son yell at each other, finish bjke just in time with 5 minutes to spare. Schtick gets old pretty quick.

Eh, those choppers they make are pretty hideous. Give me a cafe racer or stock bobber any day.

It's Orange County, NY.

Things really fell off the hook when Mikey got his pickup truck stuck in Paul senior's pond.
HE EVEN HIT A ROCK.

douchebag/hater: Good.

The best observation about this ´reality´ TV show was in a review and it was this(paraphrased):

´What´s up with all the false deadlines? These guys build custom motorcycles for a living and KNOW how long it takes. The constant alarms of ´We´re GONNA MISS THE DEADLINE AND OUR LIVES AND BUSINESS WILL BE RUINED!!!´ is nonsense´.

I never watched it regularly but after reading that I stopped altogether because the writer was correct: the show was nothing but viewer manipulation and faked drama.

As for the retarded son ´Mikie´ I hope they paid him a ton of money to act like he was missing 3 or 4 chromasomes.

The same crap happens on Restaurant Impossible. The host brings in professional designers to renovate the place, and tells them they have only 2 days and $10,000 to fix the place up. WTF? I can understand the money limit (not every show has a multi-million dollar budget), but why the 2 day limit? Is the store going to get blown up by Dennis Hopper if it's not fixed up in 2 days? The forced deadline just seems like cheap way to make the show look more exciting.

Mega Steve: douchebag/hater: As for the retarded son ´Mikie´ I hope they paid him a ton of money to act like he was missing 3 or 4 chromasomes.

He's a method actor

Him and that Chumley guy on Pawn Stars must have eaten paint chips like Pringles when they were toddlers.

NYRBill: Chelsea Clinton Is Carrot Top's Lost Twin: Seriously that. AC is definitely one of the most annoying shows out there. Same lame "plot" each and every time.

every "build" show is: cars, bikes, doesn't matter
1. "build will be difficult"
2. "ZOMG, we'll NEVER get it done in time"
3. "builders scream at each other for a few minutes"
4. "customer is here and we're just finishing"

To be fair I liked Monster House.

I miss Monster Garage. Awesome premise and started off great, but declined pretty quickly.

Happy Hours: Dr.Mxyzptlk.: Happy Hours: 10 years? Really? That was one of the more annoying shows on cable except for all of the rest of them. I'm glad I finally cut the cable off. So what now? 10 years of American Chopper repeats? Not on my TV

I am sure you can find a cupcake cook off show to watch.

// 10 years ago blue collar people finally got to show their stuff.

Oh there's plenty of that stuff on PBS - what I get for free over the air.

I hate that shiat too.

I would have liked American Chopper if they had focused on building bikes, but instead there was always some contrived drama which basically meant tune in for the last 3 minutes to see what they ended up building.

Blue collar my ass. They're a bunch of spoiled farks.

3 minutes was all it needed. It was pretty much always the same, formulaic. near-unridable rolling statement of form-over-function, poorly assembled by morons.

I really liked that episode where they were behind schedule and Jesse was pissed.

Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: Eh, those choppers they make are pretty hideous. Give me a cafe racer or stock bobber any day.

The show might have held my interest for more than parts of 4 or 5 episodes had they been building bikes for Bonneville, perhaps. Something that involved a bit more engineering skill, and a product that had to, in at least some limited sense, work well. There is often more elegance and beauty to be found in a purely functional object than one festooned with exaggerated proportions and all the gingerbread that will fit.

Cyno01: I miss Monster Garage. Awesome premise and started off great, but declined pretty quickly.

I enjoyed the fact that they would use different builders consistently and you would almost never see Jesse.

It was less "Monster House" and more "We Do Goofy Shiat To Your Home For Profit."

To be replace with the Deadliest Julian.

I've watched this off & on for it's duration. I loved the glory days of Discovery Channel when there were all of those great gearhead shows like Monster Garage, Monster House, Biker Buildoff, & American Chopper.

Yeah, every episode has been formulaic damn near from day one but it's been such a fascinating sociological and economic study.

You've got to give these guys credit for tapping in to something and really living the American dream.

BalugaJoe: How much is Cody worth?

I don't know, but Vinnie is worth $2 million. At OCC, Rick is worth $1.75 million and Jason $500k.

Every bike frame looked the same....

And the family needed to be pummeled until the tantrums and rants stopped.

The show sucked.

Vinnie quit and started his own shop, they didn't get rid of him.

I don't know....

I've worked at a lot of different software shops and been on many different teams....and it's pretty much been a constant alarm of 'We're GONNA MISS THE DEADLINE AND OUR LIVES AND BUSINESS WILL BE RUINED'. Sadly, I think it's just the accepted standard for doing business. So long as you have employees who will work harder/faster/long hours - particularly if they do it unpaid - it's in the businesses best interest to constantly be under threat of missing a deadline.

AC was my guilty pleasure for a couple seasons. Yeah, it did get pretty repetative after a while, which is probably why I lost interest. Still, it was an interesting dynamic and coming from white trash myself it felt a little like home.

/haven't watched it in years
//hey! I liked Mikey. He paints now, what, like houses and such?

No one has mentioned the hideous fallout-riddled offspring of American Chopper, American Hot Rod.

I actually attempted to watch a few episodes of that attrocity, but it took the "deadline" crap to another universe. Basically, take a 6 month project and PRETEND there is a reason to try to make it in 6 weeks.

It didn't take very long for most of the best workers to jump ship. Oh, and they were quite vocal about the the quality of a 6 month build that was done in 6 weeks. Oh excuse me, I meant to say the utter lack of quality.

NYRBill: a few bikers I know laugh at that show. they spend all kinds of times on fancy details and when it's "ready" it won't even start.

Well, I was always told by the biker crowd that "chrome won't get you home".
