Klippoklondike: Shouldn't that be a no contest?

Ref's judgement. One or two accidental fouls could be an NC. If there are multiple fouls or the ref judges them intentional, it can be a DQ.

Muffin'sTop: I love how every time they changed the focus from Cote to Sakara you could clearly hear from boos to chants

This.

Looks like 3 illegal hits, the hammerfists started hitting around the ear and the crown of the head then the guy turned his head into his leg and he kept hitting.

2012-11-17 09:46:29 PM
I really wish they would go back to strikes to the back of the head being legal.

You can tell for awhile there the producers were just farking with the crowd switching shots on the monitors between Cote and Sakara with ever increasing frequency, to see if they'd keep up the cheer-booing alternation.

2012-11-17 09:47:47 PM
ok question since I'm unsure of the rule..

after the first couple of clear hits to the back, could the ref have simply broken it up, issued a warning and let the fight resume?

2012-11-17 09:47:48 PM
Gotta love the Montreal crowd. They always bring it whether its UFC or WWE. Arguably the best, or amongst the best crowds in North America.

Probably can't speak it fluently enough to be comfortable with it. Bippity Boppity.

/UFC been berry berry good to me.

Well that was disappointing. Sakara did look good though, and did have Cote messed up bad before the illegal punches ever landed. Hopefully he doesnt get cut.

I like knees to the head of a grounded opponent, but not kicks, and think that strikes to the back of the head should be allowed as well.

He could have. Probably would have been the best course of action. Maybe taken a point, too.

He can give a warning, take a point, and/or stop the fight long enough to see if Cote could continue, if he hadn't let it get that far.

I really hate when they are in Vegas or elsewhere and the crowd starts booing 30 seconds into a fight cause no ones been knocked out yet. Canadian crowds seem much more polite

When I was learning Japanese, my reading and listening comprehension developed much more rapidly than my speaking and writing abilities. Now that I'm back, I find that my reading and listening skills have regressed much more slowly than my speaking and writing abilities. I can't really explain it.

We try to be.

I've been to all the Toronto cards, and when "fans" started to do that shiat, the real fans around them would tell them to shut the fark up...

Regardless, it's pretty common for listening skills in a second language to outpace your ability to speak it, especially if you're self conscious about farkin up, or are reluctant to speak it because you overthink it.

This can result in a funny situation where someone who has been learning a language but will barely say two sentences in it will suddenly sound near-fluent if you get them drunk in the right context. The alcohol suppresses the anxiety, likelihood of getting tripped up, and tendency to consciously think out every word.

I'm the opposite. I haven't used my French in decades. I find now that I can get the gist of what's being said, but trying to speak it myself is really really sketchy.

I bet if I get you drunk around enough fluent (particularly French/Japanese as a second language) speakers mixed with a few native speakers, each of you would speak it nearly as well as you ever have.

That was me in Spanish class. Luckily I took my second required semester as an online course and only had to go to campus to talk my tests into a recorder in the corner of the library. I felt like such a fool trying to speak it. I know I sounded ridiculous. I'm bad enough at public speaking in english. Ofcourse in my case I couldn't understand it either.

I think he meant if the opponent in the guard is grounded up kicks should be legal...

...and now that I think about it, I agree with that. I don't like soccer kicks or face stomps, but upkicks I could support.

Where? You can't kick the head of a grounded opponent, even from your back. You should be allowed to knee or kick the shiat out of them from that position.
