geom_00: Pico, how is the XC race going?

Oregon won the womens race in a small upset. The mens race starts in 10 minutes. Badger men won last year, and are in the running (heh) again this year to try to take it all. You know who I'm hoping for :P

Heh, most of the time. It depends on a few things, that's for sure. If there's a good runner from the state of Wisconsin, then I'll root certainly for that runner, and maybe their team as well. We've had some amazingly good runners in the past. Many national champions and olympic runners.

I don't think the Gophers would give Denard Robinson a full 30 seconds on a rollout to decide if he wanted to throw or run. He ended up running towards the opposite side of the field.

I hope Kirk Farentz has his resume up to date.

Everyone doesn't play until 3:30 it seems.

I've got VT-BC on one of my two CBS affiliates, Bama-Western Carolina on one of the NBCs, and nothing on FOX or ABC.

CBS is showing Liberty's Kids which is better than I would think it would be....but i don't is as historically accurate as it tries to be.

Granted, my knowledge of the Revolutionary War isn't as great as it was.

It's a kids show that does a far better job of communicating an era of history better than anything the History Channel has done in the last five years.

I remember that around 11:30 or noon on Saturday that ABC would show an hour of Looney Toons with the occasional School House Rock mixed in. As much as I liked Animaniacs and all of that, I always looked forward to that hour block

I would like to get a bunch of history majors together and watch kids shows that focus on history. I would like to see how wrong these shows can be.

It's the history version of MST3K

I want all the auburn fans back in here mocking me for saying they would be doing good to get 5 wins this year.....

Also, go Stanford, tide, and dies KSU.

Only chance UGA has is to face Notre dame, I want it just to hose spurrier and the cock fans a little bit more.

This'll be Rice last home game this season.

Technically, the team can qualify for a bowl with a win this week against SMU and one next week a UTEP. They won't get one (despite a road win against a team that is technically part of the Big XII), but 6-6 would be a pretty nice final record. If just a few more things went right this year, it would have been one of the best seasons since the last bowl game.

Won't happen, UGA makes a team look good for one half then gets going, against good teams that's bad.

I, for one, have no problem with these games, though they're better earlier in the season.

It's fun to watch your school get a shot at amajor conference team a few times a year, and, more importantly, these games bring in a lot of money. They allow football to continue to be played at a lot of schools whose programs would otherwise lose a few million dollars, and that makes college football more fun for everyone (and it probably saves quite a few non-football sports at many schools).

The people who never want these matchups to be played effectively want to kill the sport for most people over a few games per year that no one forces them to watch. It's the same annoying attitude displayed by those who think there are too many bowl games.

I have no problems at all with teams playing 1-AA opponents in September, although they should be encouraged to play regional teams (like UNC, NC State, and ECU frequently do with App State).

But there is no excuse short of "conference expansion royally messed up our scheduling capabilities, and we promise never to do it again" for having these games in mid-november. And I wish the pollsters would punish teams for doing so.
