Thanks, subby- I enjoyed that. A couple clips I could have done without, but otherwise pretty cool stuff.

I could have done without Lance and Hulk Hogan, too, but it was pretty good in spite of them.

And Paterno.

No Bobby Orr? Did I miss Gretzy?

//I miss Jim McKay

I read that as "Six amazing minutes of excrement".

I hope that doesn't make me a bad person.

Good: lots of Muhammad Ali

Better: Laettner shot

Goddammit: Byron Leftwich

2012-11-17 11:17:24 AM
Does soccer or Lance Armstrong really have a place in a greatest sports video?

/no

2012-11-17 12:05:11 PM
Good video. Could've used Ray Borque finally holding the cup.

/Slightly biased towards hockey, but whatever

The hockey goal at ~2:10 is completely farking bonkers

Also, apparently some pretty cool stuff happens in soccer. If only the rest of it was tolerable.

Subby, I'd like to have your gay babies, and I'm not even into that sort of thing. Very nice find. Bonus points for the M83 soundtrack.

/came for Ali plus the black power Olympic salute, leaves satisfied despite being a silly white boy
//could have done without Barry Bonds, but the video was good despite him

2012-11-17 12:24:34 PM

imapirate: Goddammit: Byron Leftwich

I thought we had an unwritten rule never to mention that name again.

2012-11-17 12:26:46 PM
So, countless shots of the Yankees winning, but no '04 WS? FAIL.

2012-11-17 12:27:13 PM
Finally got to Joe Carter jumping around the bases at the end.

2012-11-17 12:29:11 PM
Nice find, subs. Best college play that I can think of that wasn't there is Crabtree's catch against Texas. Agree with above comments that it could do without Bonds, Lance, Paterno and Hulk Hogan. Maybe would have added some Secretariat footage. But still, fun to watch.

2012-11-17 12:29:14 PM
I really don't think I would have been an Ali fan.

2012-11-17 12:34:18 PM
Chris Webber timeout in there....lol.

2012-11-17 12:37:22 PM
Also:

- Lol JoePa
- Boise State clowning OU not once, but twice
- No Chalmers?

2012-11-17 12:40:57 PM
Goddammitsomuch, Kirk Gibson.

Interesting that the one MMA inclusion is NOT UFC. (Anthony Pettis's "Showtime Kick" against Benson Henderson at the final WEC show)

2012-11-17 12:41:36 PM
I still hate BSU for beating OU on that goddamn hook and lateral play on 4th and 19 or whatever it was, then the stupid ass SOL play on the 2pt conversion.

Minus Bonds, Lance and Paterno: Great video.

Ali holding the Torch *still* gets to me to this day.

How is that? Leftwich having to be carried by his teammates is pretty moving stuff there actually.

Nice to see Prefontaine make it in there. He's always forgotten about.

Could use more stuff in terms of horse racing championships, distance running (the close finishes or world records), and something, anything with Jim Thorpe really.

Nice video though.

2012-11-17 12:53:46 PM
No Secretariat?

Otherwise, pretty good.

"Moving like a TREMENDOUS machine!" Still chokes me up everytime I hear it.

They got the one moment in AZ sports history with a half second of Gonzo hitting the walkoff. I guess the Boise St statue of liberty play was executed in AZ.

Apparently "moments" also means "people".

1. USA hockey 1980
2. Derek Redmond 1992 where his dad helps him finish the race. (makes me tear up every single time. )

Hear, hear. They actually made a bobblehead of that in Cleveland.
Speaking of Cleveland, I REALLY didn't need to see Jordan's shot over Ehlo.

It was absolutely glorious. I could not believe the last 15 minutes of the game.

2012-11-17 01:17:24 PM
Don't believe I saw any Tyson in there... he was one hell of a beast in the ring 25 years ago.

Jaromir Jagr scoring in the 1992 Stanley Cup finals... Chicago Blackhawks were 0-3 down in their opening series against St. Louis if I remember, then won 12 straight games, many blowouts. They had a 4-1 lead in the opening game to Pittsburgh, but Pittsburgh clawed back... Jagr's goal tied the game, and they didn't look back.
Jagr goal with great commentary

Could have also shown USA beating Canada in a couple hockey tournaments too.

2012-11-17 01:19:56 PM
I didn't see Secratariet or Roger Bannister. Pretty good overall though

2012-11-17 01:20:04 PM

Wadded Beef: Good video. Could've used Ray Borque finally holding the cup.

why? fark that... he didn't do it with boston.. he went looking for a contender so he could win a championship without having to do the hard work of building up a championship team. that kind of shiat is a disgrace to sports and part of the reason why we have a lock-out right now... spoiled athletes.

Because in that game he was picking apart Louisville's secondary from his wheelchair.

Uhm not likely... there are very few 0-3 come backs and chicago vs st. lou was not one of them... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_Stanley_Cup_playoffs

/also, there was maybe 2 blow-outs... 8-2 and 5-1... everything else looks like 1 or 2 goal games.

I'm at my desk eating lunch, and trying to fight back the tears after watching that part of the video. Gawd I'm such a puss.

JoePa, Tebow and Favre, but no 2010 Landon Donovan. Fark that.

Pentaxian: US-Algeria, Donovan's goal.

The Andres Cantor call of that goal is so much better.

I agree, he was great to watch back in the day.

He also has a knack for funny/bizarre quotes.

Just when I was wondering about hockey, Brown takes out Sedin. heh.
