xnmw: dickfreckle: JohnnyC: Nope... didn't find that bike with the sidecar there. Did find this old BMW in the pictures though:[www.johncathcart.com image 508x445][www.johncathcart.com image 508x445]It was in a really small hallway at the museum though, so I couldn't get a good shot from the side. You probably already know this, but the BMW logo is a spinning airplane propeller.[encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com image 344x120]They were banned by treaty from manufacturing war engines, surviving by making bicycles of all things. I'll ride bikes that turn me on more (including my current one), but will probably never have the sort of relationship I had with beemers. They just kept going. And going. There was never anything particularly sexy about them, but sex appeal don't get ya home.http://www.leftlanenews.com/living-a-lie-bmw-logo-not-based-on-spinn in g-propeller.html
TwistedIvory: dickfreckle: I've done both 955i and 1050 (I have a 955i motor in my living room, for no apparent reason). Frankly, there isn't a tremendous amount of difference. Both made me harvest seat foam with my ass cheeks in first gear alone. And I was kind of underwhelmed, but my Italian twin is a 996cc Ducati engine and my Japanese four is a 1349cc Hayabusa engine. My Sprint ST would start to suck wind around 110 or 120mph on a spirited ride, and that bothered me. I expected a bit more. For city commuting I take the KLR650 (though it's more dirt-oriented these days) and for highway droning I tend to take my SV650N. The Monster, B-King, and CX500T come out on other occasions (and one day my GSX-R 7/11 will rise again!).

dickfreckle: I agree with damn near all of this, including the KLR. It's a bike I've always wanted to own but never got around to. SV is simply one of the best daily bikes out there. Depending on which particular Monster, chances are I'm gonna dig that as well. I know what a CX500T is, but have never ridden one. Have seen several around town, including one that leaks oil a few blocks down from my place. That's an insult to the owner, not the bike.KLR 650 is on my list. I don't need one, but I gotta have it. However, I am not a wealthy man. Back in the day I could afford multiple bikes, but now I need to be cautious.
dickfreckle: If I may ask, how were you riding when you Sprint started sucking wind? I'm not trying to insult you; genuinely curious. Perhaps we just have different ideas of what "sucking wind" means.
Kuroshin: ChubbyTiger:Meh. Boxers keep your toes warm when it's cold out.So do boots.
