That was farking hilarious. God, some of those were doozies!

That man was President for eight years. It feels like one of those weird half remembered dreams now.

Continue mocking Bush libtards, your guy can't say anything not written for him.

That was actually enjoyably funny, as long as I didn't remember that he'd said all that while President.

2012-11-17 08:13:29 AM
This bufoon had his finger on the button for almost a DECADE. That KILLS me. He is responsible for more of the negative crap that's going on now than anyone else.

WORST. PRESIENT. EVER.

It's many of the same people on both cases, and they vote on media perception and personality more than the actual platform.

GW was very folksy and familiar while Gore was a a robot and Kerry was dryer than a seventy year old prostitute.
Forward to 2008 and you've got a very jovial Obama vs old man McCain, and then the way too strait laced Romney in 2012.

In respect I don't see much of a difference between either party in the presidency.
They both zipped open the treasury for the favor of big business. Peace loving Democrats go to war like demons and conservative republicans waste money every chance they get. The real business is still happening in the scotus and in the houses of congress.

As figureheads, all of the recent presidents have done acceptable jobs.
No real Kennedy's or Reagan's among them tho.

Not defending him as president, or as a man, but I don't like clips like this because it's like those articles that show "Stairway to Heaven" and compare it to Ke$ha and lament how low we've gone.

Trust me, Kennedy burped and farted and screwed up all the time too. But there weren't cameras on him 24/7 either.

Again, not defending the man, just saying you can make ANYONE look bad taking snippets out like this

I drank a half-a-bottle of Johnny Walker Black through most of those years. That dude, among other things, was the chief cause. Holy f*ck. I'm just glad that it's all just a haze.

"We did that? We actually gave THAT guy the nuclear football?"

"Yeah, dude."

"Wow... Party on."

Man, the heady times of the fall of 2008.The time when gas flowed freely from the taps of the stations like the milk of paradise in Kubla Khan's palace. The hot sticky air from summer and its $4.00/gallon gas was now a distant, hazy memory. As September wore on, you could feel the crispness in the air as the leaves started to turn like consumer confidence. October brought the the brilliant colors of the season as the leaves and stock markets began to turn and fall in earnest. As we move into late November, we look out in the yard, see the squirrels making the last frantic effort to store away food for the coming winter, mirror the myriads of laid off workers busily wondering how they will keep their shelter and feed their family. I know you wish we could go back to that time, a time of greatness when gas was cheap and everything was right in the world because gas was cheap and that of course, is the sole measure of history.

I honestly think I'd like the person George W. Bush. Take all of what he stood for and all the bullshiat he pulled while President away (wasn't paying attention to him prior) and he would probably be a really fun guy to hang out with. I really loathed him as President.

57 States?
You didn't build that?
Ten thousand people died in Kansas?
Clinging to guns and religion?
"We've seen just a skyrocketing autism rate. Some people are suspicious that it's connected to the vaccines. This person included. The science right now is inconclusive, but we have to research it."?

Whether the talking heads skew in his favor up for debate, but we can't pretend that the man hasn't had his moments in front of the cameras.

I think its a fair point about modern media coverage not giving candidates as much of a break.
FDR ran a world war from his wheelchair but the average man on the street wouldn't have noticed it, even by his fourth term.
Woodrow Wilson repaid his unprecedented support from black voters by putting segregationists in power and setting the racial divide back fifty years.
Kennedy basically lied about the missile gap to get elected, mishandled Cuba and got a pass on his military dealings in Vietnam.
Reagan... well, someone already posted the Reagan comic. So you see what we've got there.

If any of these men had been followed around 24/7 by cameras recording their every statement, its likely we'd remember them as very different men now.

Don't blame your failure of a president on Obama or the Democrats. It wasn't the Democrats that were too embarrassed to have Bush speak at the Republican National Convention. It isn't Democrats who suddenly cease to speak Bush's name after his term in office as if the years 2001-2008 suddenly ceased to exist. It isn't Democrats who retroactively voted independent in previous elections, because Democrats are proud of our past president, and aren't trying to bury their past in the sand like a smelly turd.

Sadly true. It proves how many people fall for a southern voice and some fake made up facts.

So can the derp in this thread be called

Sympathy for the Bush ?

I can go as far as he was a likable dumbass. But if you remember he let Cheney run rampant and the neocons start two wars, as well as tried to privatize social security, as well as presided over the biggest terror attack in the USA's history, which directly led to crap like the TSA and Gitmo and this modern police state we all enjoy today, which led to FEMA being made useless under TSA and led to Katrina's botched response, which led to all the right wing blithering about FEMA death camps and all the rest of it, which led to the belief that America could not respond to a natural disaster any more.. which also included giving out over a billion dollars to churches running "Faith-based education" that qualified under some program of Bush's ...

on and on and effin on it goes. Sure he was a "nice guy." So what. He was also in charge of quite possibly the single worst administration in 100 years. Any amount of revisionist chuckling over some of his likable moments has zero credibility other than to show how badly Americans choose their leaders sometimes.

Considering Bush took office with a 4.2% unemployment rate, ended his first term at a 5.4% unemployment rate and his 2nd term at 7.7% unemployment rate, where are you getting your number?

2012-11-17 01:53:17 PM

Smashed Hat: That man was President for eight years. It feels like one of those weird half remembered dreams now.

Before that "dream", we had a balanced budget, a budgetary surplus, a thriving economy, a stable future, an optimistic domestic situation, a reasonably calm military situation, and the respect of the civilized world.

In 8 short years, we ended up with a destroyed budget, billions in deficits, an economy in recession, an uncertain future, a domestic situation plunged into fascism, a military situation involving war in two different countries and conflicts in half a dozen others, and the rest of the civilized world wondering what in the hell happened.

He may or may not be the worst leader this country has ever had, but he's up in the top three.

He was a rich, Yale-educated (failed) oil tycoon who put on his "Larry the Cable Guy" act, snowed enough morons to vote for him, and then handed the reins to a cabal of conservative extremists who would've been right at home in Iran, or Egypt. That cabal promptly drove the country into the ground while this lying asshat spent a third of his Presidency either on his "ranch" in Crawford or at Camp David. He cleared bush for PR flacks while Rome burned.

The fact that this lying asshat is now laying low but enjoying the good life instead of stting in a box at The Hague, along with his cronies, is probably going to be one of recent history's grave injustices.

Of course almost nobody claims to like Bush despite a majority of American voters voting for him twice, you sort of proved my point. Yet here you are deflecting the argument to talk about Obama anyway, despite tons of threads on Fark that already exist already discussing Obama.

But I'll bite anyway, what do you feel Obama unfairly got a pass on?

Just because Faux Newz says something, doesn't make it true. And If I recall correctly, this whole economic bubble collapse was really thrown on to Clinton's shoulders (after many R slanted posters got tired of Bush being held responsible for not repealing it for 8 years), because he originally made it easier to hand out loans and what have you like candy.

Please don't pretend you never see the Fark threads where Obama's supports are sad he is not more libby liberal.

Ok let see.. we have the affordable heath care, going to revenue neutral, actual cost are more then double the claimed cost. The current Benghazi cover up. everyone knows it was a terrorist attack, While he claimed it was spontaneous riot caused by a video. How many spontaneous riots have rpgs handy. Then we have fast and furious weapons escapade.
