My wife - the horror mIovie aficionado - wants to see this. I'm not sure if it's because of zombies, Malkovich, or making me take her to another rom-com

2012-11-16 07:27:34 PM
I think it looks great. Not because of Malkovich and not because it's a rom-com.

It is a zombie comedy, (zomedy?) and we could always use another one of those if done well.

Also, Rob Corddry.

The general premise and whatnot doesn't bother me, but the trailer itself was underwhelming in my opinion.

2012-11-16 08:01:38 PM
That looks .... matinee worthy. Could be good.

2012-11-16 09:40:22 PM
Hmm. I'm not super excited by this trailer, but this could be one of those movies that's somehow, almost inexplicably not horrible.

2012-11-17 12:26:03 AM
What the hell, I'm there.

How to fill theater seats:
1) Family movies - lots of kids.
2) Explosive action movies - groups of teens.
3) Rom-com - guaranteed two seats per mindshare.
4) Add moderate male interest (zombies) to rom-com: even MORE two-seat mindshares.
5) Avoid all "arty" films.

I spent the 80s going through every mom and pop video rental store looking for any and all zombie movies I could find. at that time it usually meant lo budget Italian zombie movies or "zombie like" movies. I tried to get my friends to watch night/dawn/day of the dead with me, but no one was really interested. when our new school opened up they gave us maps of the school, which I quickly used to mark rooms for storage, rooms for a barracks, were I would post guards, etc..

now...other than "the walking dead" TV series, I'm totally sick of it all. not because I don't like zombies, but because I'm sick of the general public liking zombies and zombies being in every other video game and movie. can't you guys go back to effeminate vampires? mummies? werewolves? anything else? please?

2012-11-17 01:42:40 AM
Giving the zombies a motivation is nice.

2012-11-17 01:54:42 AM
Oh, good.

We've finally gotten to the "zombies who want to be normal people" point in the cycle. We've had the "vampires who want to be normal people", "werewolves who want to be normal people", "ghosts who want to be normal people" and now it's the zombies. Oh, wait, I forgot that "Angel" did the "demons want to be normal people" thing too.

I am so doing a script where there's an evil vampire that only wants to suck the blood of beautiful young girls and THAT'S IT.

Malkovich is a great actor, but not even he could liven up this movie.

2012-11-17 02:16:30 AM
Da fark did I jus watch?

Obviously they're not dead. It's just some sickness.
At least it better be or else that is one farking stupid movie premise.

So it's like Twilight with zombies replacing vampires?

I can hit you with the WAAAAAAAHMbulance.

If they were going for allegory with the trailer, they're about four Romeros too late.

Oh and nice way to combat the objectification of women in movies, Hollywood. Equal opportunity softcore porn, but instead of sex, it's emotions, and with monsters. Now it's a level playing field and no one wins.

Just add when they're having their period and call it red wings and you might have a hit on your hands.

Not a huge fan of zombie flicks, but this looks like a pretty fresh take on the genre. You have my interest, Hollywood.

These. I'll definitely rent it at some point, at least.

Nice to see the kid from skins in something new ...

I'm officially zombied out.

/cept for TWD

I'm so glad I'm not the only one thinking this!

When I first heard about this, I figured it was going to be some oh-so-serious Emo/Twilight crap. But this looks like it'll actually be fun. I'll get the dvd.

2012-11-17 04:33:30 AM
i don't have to watch it, because it looks like they showed the entire movie in the trailer.

2012-11-17 05:13:20 AM
They could make this better by having the zombies eat bacon while doing the Gangam Style dance and Samuel L. Jackson screams catchphrases in the background.

2012-11-17 05:50:37 AM
I'm pessimistic, but this looks interesting. It's different anyway.

The book was great.
The movie looks good too.
Will see it.

Somewhere on the soundtrack, this has to be included.

Dear lord that is a tight little body. I remember after she starred in "Take Me Home Tonight" everyone said she looked like a poor man's Kristen Stewart. Looks like she is the better of the two when it comes to the birthday suit.

Me want.

After that headline, I expected to see that he was doing a cameo in World War Z.

I was pleasantly surprised. This looks like it could be interesting. At least it's something different for the genre.

Looks interesting. The CGI...not so much.

Being a romantic Zomcom, I think this would be a better song for the soundtrack

Looks interesting enough to watch it. I'll keep my expectations a little low and maybe I'll enjoy it.

It looks hilarious. I'm there.

2012-11-17 11:17:38 AM
So..... these zombies sparkle in sunlight?

OK, the only thing left is the mummy movies... I will have to hurry up and write my Twilight-meets-The-Mummy script so I can sell it and make a gazillion bucks.

2012-11-17 11:18:29 AM
Looks good.

Looks to be similar in tone to this movie I liked.

We get it, you liked Zombies before they were cool.

For Fark, there is a surprising number who thinks this looks good. I think it looks absolutely terrible and the trailer pretty much showed the entire movie anyway. Looks like Twilight (going by previews only) but with zombies.

The thought process you express in this paragraph sums up the thought process you can find in probably 75-90% of the United States Military. Probably dating back to about the same time as you were doing it. So you're not alone in this, nor will you ever be.
