If ye would be brave enough to grip Mjolnir at night, by the next moring you will definitely be Thor. And should ye seek it twice, you will be even Thorer...

What should we expect from next year's Thor: The Dark World? Apparently, at least one fight scene, unsurprisingly

I bet he hits somebody with that hammer, too.

sees the return not only of Hemsworth, but also Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and, most importantly, Kat Dennings as Darcy.

Most importantly, indeed.

Will Natalie Portman be dressed as she was in Your Highness ? If so, I would like to begin the farkening.

Um....seem to be forgetting the best part which is Kat Dennings boobs on the big screen. Plus the first one was fun. All to set up Avengers 2!!

Avengers, basically.

While I will definitely see it, I have very low expectations for Thor 2. The single biggest problem with Thor was Chris Hemsworth, and that hasn't changed, so I don't expect much else too either.

Tatum's scar made me watch that horrible movie long enough to catch JGL's STUPENDOUS performance and it doesn't seem to have hurt him any.

Saw him at Comic-Con last year. Seemed like a good guy just having fun. Can't be jealous of him being ridiculously good-looking. If that gives me enough leverage to take the old lady out to a movie where I can see Natalie Portman being hot and Kat Dennings flaunting her jumblies, I'm all good.

/caused some major quaking with my Mjolnir that night

I would have said it was Portman actually. Talk about phoned in. Hemsworth was supposed to be kinda cheesy. Anyway, so long as Sif has a lot of screen time I'll be good.

Really ? I thought he nailed it. I always imagine Thor as quick to anger and quick to laugh. He's physically imposing, can deliver a line and displayed both Thor's rage and his compassion. I would agree Portman was the low point of Thor, much as it pains me to see it. She didn't look like she wanted to be in the flick at all. Honey, if you can't get into the Superhero stuff, don't take the role. Gwyneth Paltrow can even stop biatching long enough to throw herself into her role.

elvindeath: Really ? I thought he nailed it. I always imagine Thor as quick to anger and quick to laugh. He's physically imposing, can deliver a line and displayed both Thor's rage and his compassion.

Well, first off, I'll just say that there is something about his face that I just don't like. He just doesn't look anything at all like Thor to me. Thor should be more hard-edged and Nordic. And the whole character just needed to be a bit more menacing. Hemsworth's Thor is a little too Adam Westy for my tastes.

I would have preferred someone like Alexander Skarsgard. He could have sold the idea of Thor as an arrogant, self-important and thin-skinned asshole who gets himself kicked out of Asgard. But I never bought it with Hemsworth. I never believed that Odin could look at that babyface and see a lost cause.

Don't get me wrong, Chris Hemsworth was far from the only thing wrong with the story. I agree that Portman was phoning it in, with a strong sense of deja vu - I saw her play this character before, in Attack of the Clones. But, much as I did with AotC, I put the blame for that on who she was acting against and the lousy role she was given. The Jane Foster character was as bland of a Token Love Interest as they come, whose sole motivation seems to be a powerful appreciation for Thor's dumb hunkiness. It's not really fair to compare that to Gwenyth Paltrow playing Pepper Pots, who had a lot more going on as a character, and Gwenyth was acting against RDJ, who is totally awesome.

The thing is in Thor 2 the writing can improve, and Portman can actually pretend she cares about the movie she's in, and the tone can change, but Chris Hemsworth is still going to be Chris Hemsworth, and I'm still going to look at him and think "Nope, I don't buy this guy as Thor."

Agreed. And I thought Hemsworth nailed the part. That and his subsequent performance in The Avengers could have easily sucked. But they don't.

All the Avengers movies and their individual movies cannot compete with the awesomeness that is The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heros cartoon. Their characters are absolutely perfect, especially Thor.

Always felt Drizzt and Jarlaxle were best when shown together. The Dreamer and the Business man. Throw in Artemis Entreri and his painfully obvious mortality brings it all together. I mentioned in a past thread, but I think Guillermo Del Toro would do a great forgotten realms story. The elvish villian in Hellboy 2 really made me think that he could pull it off convincingly.

Thor was a decent popcorn flick. Wasn't the greatest of films, but was still worth a watch. I'm hoping that the generation of films after Avengers picks up a little bit of the magic.

Malekith came before Drizzt. Both are awesome.
