(ABC)   Idiots buying Twinkies at a huge premium on eBay - $60 a box. Given that Mother's Cookies were back on the shelves in six months, we will be likely be tasting schadenfreude along with our creme filling next year   (abcnews.go.com) divider line 300

Indeed..

Well.. Besides this bullshiat they tried selling to us here this summer.. Seriously. WTF where they thinking?

I had an Orange Dreamsicle Tastykake when I was in Philly over the summer - it was awesome. I wish that we could get them in California.

Yes another company will buy the Twinkies Brand but until production starts up again the only Twinkies available will be the ones left on the shelves which last time I checked were none. I'm betting 20 Years from now an unopened box of Hostess Twinkies will probably go for way more than $15.

Please permit me to remind you that TWINKIES ARE NASTY.

stratagos: *sigh*

Why do I bother working for a living when I have such evidence of the continued imbecility of the American public? I could just scam the morons for a living - better hours, higher compensation, and I keep their money in circulation

You sound ready for a career in real estate!

JesusIsNowBlind: Misch: Loadmaster: Damn labor unions.

Damn private equity firms buying companies, saddling them with debt to pay extraordinary dividends to the private equity firms, then trying to cut employees pay to make the loan payments on that debt.

Twinkie got bained

I, for one, welcome our new lead-tainted, Chinese Twinkie overlords...

eBay sellers have taken the opportunity to tap into buyers' Hostess panic, selling boxes for 95 percent more than grocery stores...Food Emporium grocery store in New York City...Retailing there for $4.29 for a box of ten Twinkies, one eBay seller sold a box for $59.99. Other boxes were on sale for $100 or more.

Math - how does it work?
95 percent more than $4.29 would seem to be $8.37, but maybe I'm missing something here.

My Cool Twinkie Story Bro:

I was living in Florida when I turned 18 and was therefore legal to drink booze. (They've since raised the age, IIRC.)
To celebrate the event, I went out and got a six of Miller High Life in bottles and a box of Twinkies.
To this day I can't really identify my intent, but the result was drinking five beers and eating about six Twinkies and then spewing foam in the toilet a few times later that night.
Yay, drinking!
Yay, Twinkies!
Urp.

Please don't politicize snack-cakes, b/c they originated Retardumblican, and they fund R-party, ultimately, yo.

Don't be dense.

Grow brain tissue, please.

Thank you.

That would be the retarded child doing the writing/editing/proofing, because there are very few educated adults in newsrooms anymore. In fact, probably an intern did the math.

Female reporter on TV here in Las Vegas standing outside our local Twinkies plant and reporting it's closure. She's crying.

So people can understand that Twinkies will be back very shortly, but if GM went under, then its cars and the jobs that went with them were gone forever.

Just curious.

Sapper_Topo: I dont care about Twinkies but you can have my Mother's frosted animal cookies when you pry them from my cold dead hands!

Yup, those are my frosted crack.Somehow a local discount store got a case of them in and sold them for $1.29/bag, and I was forced to buy them all, lest some poor sod get hooked.

Uh... It's just sponge cake with cream filling. It's not like you couldn't make your own with just a little bit of effort. There are hundreds of walk-throughs on the web that cover every ingredient and step of the process.

2012-11-16 07:23:44 PM
Wait, there was a period when Mothers was off the shelf? I remember when they said they would start grocery vendors, i haven't seen them off since...

2012-11-16 07:24:48 PM
This is all just a marketing ploy by Hostess. You watch. Not only will Twinkies still be on sale this time next year, they'll be the SAME TWINKIES. I mean the exact same ones.

Mark my words.

2012-11-16 07:45:27 PM
I wish more companies would do this. Shame on the unions for trying to squeeze more out of this company instead of allowing the workers to help the company stay in business. It might've taken a cut in pay but at least they'd have jobs.
This is what happens when you go against the people that let you work for them and sign on with the union thugs. I bet those union bosses aren't feeling the sting of being out of work. The workers and their families should visit those union leaders over the holidays. See how the people that cost the jobs are getting by. I wonder if the union thugs told those workers to vote for obama. I wonder if those workers were promised a taxpayer bailout like the bigger unions.

I made a batch of homemade twinkies, in the spirit of the real product. My twinkies are priceless, which is why you only get the cream filling if you're willing to work for it. So suck on those twinkies.
