Or he could just bring the dog. Nobody will actually care unless it goes crazy and bites the face off a 4 year old. I doubt that would happen... they seem stable and rich enough to deserve it.

He's rich and famous, the regular rule don't apply to him.

Eh, if he can't have the dog in Toronto and cares enough about it that he'd spurn the Blue Jays, he could always just buy a house in New York and commute the 90 minutes or so to Toronto.

Am I missing something? He doesn't have to live in Toronto. Don't lots of ballplayers live in different cities than where they play?

It said he already lived 80km north of miami to maintain ownership last year. Farking stupid laws anyways. Why not treat it like a normal pet of different circumstance? Permit and abiding by special restrictions like a fence. Have someone inspect it. Nobody cares.

Grease mayor Rob Ford's palm. You'll get your dog OK'ed.

He doesn't have to, but the nearest he could live would be Niagara Falls, which is about 90 miles away. That's a pretty lengthy commute, I know I sure as fark wouldn't want to make that, even if I were making millions of dollars in the pros. Wonder if this could void the trade?

Yeah, I doubt he's going to move his family internationally after they bought a house in FL last year.

Well, now that you're here, we just wanted you to know we're coming down for a visit in October. Get ready."

You just gave Melky Cabrera $16M. Your argument is invalid.

The thing is, Buehrle doesn't have any say in the matter, short of retiring or something.

Most likely his family doesn't move to Toronto (either stay in Florida or move to upstate New York) and they keep the dog. I suspect he can afford a place to stay in Toronto if the commute is too long on a daily basis from a home in New York.

Not disputing what you say, but for -some- reason, the entire province of Ontario, which were it a US state would be 5th largest in population; about the size of Illinois, felt the need to ban the breed.

yet the fact that Florida has the same ban didn't prevent him from signing there.......

...and let's not mention the fact that the suburbs of Toronto don't have this ban.

It's a provincial law, so yes, the suburbs do have this ban. The ban in Florida only applied to Miami itself.

I assume you were describing yourself?

1) Florida doesn't ban them, only Miami-Dade County does. He bought a home well outside of Miami to avoid the ban.

2)Provincial laws apply to the entire Province. The closest places to Toronto that don't have the breed banned are Buffalo or Niagara Falls, New York.

The Bestest: Not disputing what you say, but for -some- reason, the entire province of Ontario, which were it a US state would be 5th largest in population; about the size of Illinois, felt the need to ban the breed.

There were a number of attacks by Pit Bulls and they have been the go to dog of choice if you want something violent and aggressive for a while now. Unlike most dogs that need to be trained to have those characteristics many pit bulls need to be trained not to have them. As such, I fully support restrictions on ownership (mainly to stop owners that don't know how to train it properly, those that want an aggressive dog will just raise a Doberman/Rottweiler/something else to do so) but not an outright ban.

There is suspicion now and 8 mil a year is pretty crazy. After we take all the burden of the contracts from Miami, allow me to be a withdrawn to take on Melky at such a high rate.

/could work out though.

I'd much rather they take the risk than go in with Rajah Davis as the starting left fielder. It's actually a very good risk for them to take; high upside, little downside. $8million really isn't that much in this day and age of baseball salaries. MLB teams all just received something like $25million from the new TV deal and Rogers is one of the richest owners in baseball. Its nice to see them finally start to spend.

Now they just need to replace Lind...

Rumor is AA is making a pitch(no pun intended) for David Price.

I'm OK with this signing. Toronto is a hitters park.

Yeah I meant 8 mil after all of the additional money they are going to be shelling out. I thought they could get for cheaper considering some people probably black balled him.

Your point is good though. You're going to finally invest? Don't farking half ass it.

I'm excited to see what manager this hauls in. And Rajai...ehh they need to work on his patience. He still has value. Lind does not.

Which is why the big trade isnt finalized? someone leaked it ahead of time. Probably from the other side of the table. AA might be able to keep his vest tight but the other guy at the table obviously couldnt.

I don't think it's a bad deal at all for the Jays. They've got a two year commitment for 8 mil a year to a guy that's had 4.1 and 4.7 WAR over the last two seasons, with a 121 and 158(!) OPS+ during that time. Even if he loses both arms and is banned from the continent for using super steroids to bulk out his eyeballs, they're out a grand total of $16 million. Keep in mind they just absorbed a total of $164 million in contracts for two players. This week.

I think he's more likely to pay off in terms of production vs. salary than either Jose Reyes or Mark Buerhle.

I'd put good money on Manny Acta.

I like Davis, as a fourth outfielder he has tremendous value.

The only way Lind would have value is in a platoon. He should never face left handed pitching.

SkylineRecords: Someone didn't check his stats pre-2012. Or a newspaper on August 16th.

This. I'll actually stretch that back to 2011 because before 2011, his OPS was .635. He's bumped it up 100 points with the last two years of juicing, and even then he's only average. Simply put, he's either going to be retardedly careful (which, with an athlete's common sense, is neigh impossible) or fall back to sub-.700 land. Craziest part? Other than his average, he wasn't exactly putting up super numbers or anything, was still striking out at least once every other game (about DOUBLE his career average)... I mean, you could go on and on. (And I'm sure DeWayne Mann will rip Toronto a new one for this once he gets a hold of it, too.)

Cagey B: I think he's more likely to pay off in terms of production vs. salary than either Jose Reyes or Mark Buerhle.

Yeah, to put it in perspective, they're paying IIRC 14 mil to Bautista this year. I know he's been good, I just seriously expect productive decline from him. Also, I may be talking with emotions here but he is quite a douche. His curtain call he took mid-pitch with Halladay on the mound during the 2007 opener showed what kind of a person he was.
