This vandal must be found and strung up by his genitals. Not only did he deface the Great Jerry Garcia, those who hate shut your whore mouths and go listen to nickelback, but they also defaced an artists work for no reason other than being a douchenozzle.

The Angry Hand of God: And nothing of value was lost.

That was my haunt.
My informative years were spent on 13th and Washington. That's been a bunch of different bars, but Bender's lasted a good while.
Also, that owner is a class act. This is sad.

Bianchi said the mural will be repainted, again, but wasn't sure whether the image would be one of Garcia, who died in 1995 at age 53, or of something else related to the Grateful Dead genre of music.

Whatever could he have in mind?

HEY RICKY!

If I said "The stairway" to you, what would pop into your mind?

/I swear to farkin' GORD that some TF Dead-thread had a youtube link to that piece of jammery, and now for the life of me cannot find it's existence on the intertrons. YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE!

Cause what Denver REALLY needs is another Dead Head Bar. Geez, I remember a time when there was some REAL color on Capital Hill...now it's just Lo-do lite.

I've been to this bar, had a great time! Met some folks from the Netherlands that were all flipped out on X, picked up another chick while in there and whole bunches more fun that I'm not going to share in a public forum, haha. The Jukebox only has Grateful Dead songs in it, all 100 CD's.

Good times! I highly recommend it for any hippy types looking to hang out.

"My heart goes out to the artist," he said.

Knowing how difficult it is to paint a mural on brick, me too.
Usually murals like this are only painted indoors in Florida, because the weather fades most artwork very quickly. But the ones indoors or under shelters are almost always covered with coats of clear polyurethane, just in case some idiot jackass (which we have in great abundance) decides to leave their mark upon it.

Defacing a mural is a despicable act. This is why we can't have nice things.

huh.....a jam called "Stairway"? Can't say I've heard of that one......2/18/71 has a jam out of Wharf Rat into Dark Star that is called either "Beautiful Jam" or "Heaven Jam", and there are a few other "named" Jams (10/31/71's "Tighten Up" jam, so-named because of its resemblance to the then-current Archie Bell and the Drells' "Tighten Up", the Mind Left Body Jam, Spanish Jam, the Dear Prudence jam often heard out of 90's Terrapins)....but a "Stairway Jam"?

No sir, can't help ya. sorry bro!

9/19/70 has a fantastic DS jam that I've seen labeled "Darkness Jam" from time to time.....

and how could I forget the "Feelin' Groovy" jams that popped up in a lot of 1970-1972 Dark Stars; there's a descending riff pretty close to the Simon and Garfunkel "59th Street Bridge Song" with the "feelin' groovy" chorus.

Or you could check this out; someone over at Archive collected a bunch of jams with links. Note: no "Stairway" jams.....

This is a short guide to the various themed jams the Dead did in their early years. I've listed a lot of them here & there before, so some of these are repeated from previous posts. But I thought it might be useful as a handy reference for others, to have all the early jams gathered together in a brief introduction.
There's also a good overview of many of these jams in the first Taping Compendium

Duh, Cash is drink the bar dry type music, the Dead are music festival getting stoned to the sky music.

The Cash mural does look better, but then he had style and wasn't a ruffled hippie.

Uck. Neo-Hippies. Deadhead and jam band bars are farking lame. Go spin in a circle then take a farking bath you rotten ass dirtbags.

Denver/Boulder would be a lot cooler without those rat-nest-hair, djembe-playing urchins or people who drive Foresters.

FTFA: 'The grand opening of Quixote's True Blue was Thursday night, and Bianchi said it was important to quickly let the community know the bar would be different.
"We are not a Johnny Cash bar," he said. "But we are art lovers."

What a self-important knob.

Legal issues

Wachtel and his wife Annie were arrested in 1998 on suspicion of possession of child pornography after questionable images were found on the computer in their bedroom, after they had taken it in for repair.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waddy_Wachtel#cite_note-YahooNews-4)

[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waddy_Wachtel#cite_note-LATimes-5) Wachtel was sentenced to three years probation after pleading no contest to the charges.

nice reference, though.

If one can separate the artist from the person he truly was one of the best guitarists ever.

Just come on up to Louisville, CO to the The Waterloo to get your Cash on. 30 minutes away and totally loyal. Lots of Dead Heads, too.
