Johnson got chippy when asked to clarify his involvement in the Tim Tebow trade, widely considered a bust and a distraction to the team. It has been speculated that Johnson orchestrated the deal to sell tickets. He said Tannenbaum has the final call on all football decisions.

"This, I really want to clear up," he said. "You guys have been accusing me, this phony story of me being more concerned with PSLs or cash or something else. My job - one, two and three -- is to win games. That's why I got into this to begin with. It's to win games. ... It's not to sell PSLs or to sell hot dogs."

So he's made it clear that the Tebow trade was not about selling tickets or making money....then what was it about? It obviously wasn't to win games, as they've proven with their record.

No worries. Michael Vick will be a free man after this season is over. Jets will sign him and then the wins just keep rolling in.

Where did I put my bottle of Thorazine?

He has such a knack for picking winners, too.

"Well, I think you always have to put country first," Johnson said. "So I think it's very, very important, not only for us, but in particular for our kids and grandkids that this election come off with Mitt Romney and Ryan as president and vice president."

Johnson also backed quarterback Mark Sanchez a day after the team slipped to 2-2 this season with a 34-0 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Well, when the team is a dumpster fire, I doubt Vinny wants to come bump his gums.

Which actually surprises me.

Having watched every Seahawks game this season in it's entirety, I can say without a doubt that the Jets were the worst team they've played. At least in that game, the Jets were the worst. Aside from one blown coverage on a drive that ended in the worst INT I've seen this year, Sanchez was completely useless out there. He was the 4th best QB in the game behind a rookie, a WR and Tim Tebow.

#1) If You don't like your record Woody Johnson: Fire your GM and your Coach
#2) If You don't like your record and your starting QB is shiat he needs to be benched (at least for one game)
#3) If you don't like your record and you traded for a 2nd string QB that you have no intention of playing you shouldn't have pushed to trade for him

Though they'd never say it, I'm assuming the allure was to bring the most popular player in the NFL to the largest market for marketing purposes. I would assume that Tebow is seeing playing time only because Sanchez has been such a terrible QB this season. The 10 snaps he saw against the Seahawks were the most he's had at QB in any game this season.

The offense score zero point in Seattle. That team blows, it doesnt matter who is under center.

I remember for the iggles

McNabb was stinking up the place

he was benched for one game and he came back and did better.

There is nothing to pressure sanchez to step up

Tebow is about as big of a threat to Sanchez's job as Revis.

And he's not even that big a part of this story. The story is "this team is putrid". The locker room is a toxic waste dump, and there is maybe one player on the roster that could be argued as a potential Hall of Famer (and he's out for the rest of the year). They lack talent and chemistry. This was a team that went to consecutive conference championships, and has deteriorated into an absolute trainwreck. If Woody wants to show any proof he's interesting in winning, he's got to get rid of a large swath of that roster, the coach that established the culture in that locker room, the GM that put together that roster.

At this point, Golden Tate might be a threat to Sanchez job if the Jets went after him.

Rex is yet another example of the type of person Woody's been interested in for a while. All show, no substance. I seriously wonder what this offense would look like in anyone else's hands, because it's clear he has zero interest in it.

Isn't it basically Sporano's offense? It looks like he calls the plays and subs the QBs.

2012-11-16 02:10:54 PM
The part that is completely unexplainable by Woody was the signing of Drew Stanton as a legitimate backup BEFORE he threw Tebow in to this mess. He can deny it all he wants, but we were set with a decent backup for the system we planned to run, and out of nowhere the team makes a completely asisnine move for the biggest headline stealer out there. On top of that, it pissed off the back-stabbed Stanton so much that we had to trade him AND eat his signing bonus.

But hey, you got your PSLs and stole the headlines from the Giants, Woody. Nice work.

Yeah, going out and getting the coach of the Dolphins, who except for Jacksonville had the worst offense in the NFL last year, and making him your offensive coordinator has gone just about as well as it figured to. Take out the two games against the Bills (48) and the Colts (35) and the New York Jets have only averaged around 10 points a game. Even if the defense was healthy they can't win like that. It makes one wonder if the Jets are so terrible on offense because they have no talent or if it's because of Sporano.

But he ran the Wildcat! Remember how awesome that was for a few weeks until people figured out how to defend it?

New rule - anything that happened over 20 years ago can no longer be used to disparage or defend your chosen team.

Notable exceptions to this rule include:

Scott Norwood
Leon Lett (soon to be 20 years ago)
The Super Bowl Shuffle
The last time the Dolphins did anything good (c'mon, they need this one)
The Steelers first four championships (because no matter how long has passed, Steelers fans will bring these up anyway)

/Events to be added as warranted
