LawrencePerson: Funny how shooting over a hundred rockets at Israeli residential areas is a bad idea. Who knew?

Maybe that was the last thing that went through Ahmed Al-Jabari's mind. Before the shrapnel.

It sure wasn't "Hmm... Maybe I should put thousands of dollars into food for the people, infrastructure, maybe education for the kids...", which would have been better than "BUY ALL THE ROCKETS!!!"

Just this year alone, here is a list of rockets fired. Also, if you Google cease fire agreements, I don't see a single one that Hamas hasn't broken. But you know, they're totally put upon and being repressed. Unjustly.

I just have a hard time feeling any sympathy for a group who sends men, women or children with bombs strapped to them against civilians. They can cry "THE BLOCKADE!" all they want, but the reality is all they have to do is accept Israel exists, and offer to peacefully work with them. THEN if Israel reacts with violence, sure, pound your chest and scream "SEE! See how I've been wronged!" Until then, I feel very, very little sympathy for them.

acanuck: Both sides should have nuclear weapons.

Peace or MAD

One side already does have nukes, doesn't use them. If the other side had them, they would use them, and then in the matter of a couple of hours a good portion of the Middle East is radioactive.

Good plan. Yup.

A guy I was with one time asked an IDF soldier we were with what the difference was between a "Jew" and an Israeli. (This gentleman preferred to be called an Israeli, not a Jew.) Here was his answer in a nutshell:

Jew:
www.ascertainthetruth.com

Israeli:
static.guim.co.uk

Hilter was lucky, he only had the Jews to pick on. The Israelis would have kicked his ass.

This is the kind of dangerous oversimplification that we need to stop perpetuating.

Also, even when they do yell "SEE! See how I've been wronged!" after every time civilians are "accidentally" killed, nobody seems to hear it.

The fact is, they are both being dicks. I would argue that Israel is being more of a dick (mainly because they have a much bigger one).

I am willing to bet that if a loved one of yours was randomly killed by an unsympathetic attacker, it would not matter who did it. You would want them to pay by whatever means you could muster.

Is it not obvious to everyone that this recent surge of activity might have something to do with an election thats coming up?

xxysyndrome: Well done, Israel - you've successfully invested hundreds of millions of dollars into technology that will prevent attacks that could theoretically cause dozens' of dollars in damage. What? It's someone else's money? Even better.

And those pesky undesirables in your walled-off ghetto will never be heard from again. Until you invade them the next time, at least.

Not a bad attempt, 7/10
