Well now you get that holy cleansing of undesirables you always wanted. All glory to the Hebrew state.

So far, what I can gather is that two rockets fell just south of Tel Aviv, and one fell in the water next to Yaffa.

This is the stupidest thing Hamas could have done.

2012-11-15 12:30:12 PM
I want to care, but I just seem to have reached a saturation with that part of the world. They've been killing each other for so long, and nothing is going to change that.

Does Hamas have a deathwish?

Carry on.

But what's the latest with Patraeus?

He evidently changed the spelling of his name, for one....

Yep.
I wish we could just ignore everything from the Mediterranean to India. "You guys do whatever you want. Just leave everyone else on Earth out of it."

2012-11-15 12:36:52 PM
Israel should just totally ignore this and not fight back.

Totally.

2012-11-15 12:36:55 PM
Can we just blow them both up already and end this, Israel's not THAT good of a friend...

Yes--maybe it's time to finally grant it.

Good thing that Obama "The Sort of a God" was reelected otherwise the middle east could turn into a powder keg.

It's a goddamn shame that a region once known for its vibrant, thoughtful, intelligent people and cultures has been turned into a hellish cesspool by stark raving lunatics.

Since Israel and Palestine are both run by terrorists, who are we rooting for here?

They're like an ex-wife that just won't quit trying to fark up your life. Eventually you have to bring the hammer down hard to put an end to the nonsense.

topcon: Israel should just totally ignore this and not fight back.

Totally.

Israel brought the rockets on themselves by telling Palestinians over and over again that they will not negotiate in good faith or make any meaningful concession. They forced a war, because they wanted a war. Much easier to justify wholesale acquisition of land by war than by moving settlers illegally on it.

Moshe Dayan is putting his patch on.

2012-11-15 12:39:35 PM
Hamas has committed a double war crime by deliberately launching rockets at civilian targets, while at the same time hiding among civilians. Israel is defending itself and its population.

It's tragic, but I've become comfortable with it.

Is everyone feeling good about the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza in 2005? I didn't think so. Nothing but trouble ever since.

Sadly that has started to become a "we're better off without the lot of them" attitude for me. Yeah, it's wrong to think that.

2012-11-15 12:40:06 PM
This will not end well.

2012-11-15 12:40:09 PM
According to this article, there were 451 rockets fired on Israeli civilian populations through October, and at least that many fired again this week alone.

I find it hard to blame Israel for wanting to take some action.

Palestinian militants fired nearly 150 rockets on Thursday, killing three people,

I certainly don't want these people to kill each other and wow, that's all sorts of scary, but...how do you fire 150 rockets and "only" kill three people?

2012-11-15 12:40:35 PM
the fired 150 rockets and only 3 people died? Is Hamas the A-Team of the Middle East?

2012-11-15 12:40:38 PM
Meh.

2012-11-15 12:40:41 PM

Tatsuma: Things are about to get farking real. Holy farking shiat.

By get real, you mean go through their usual cycle.

Its not like this isn't fairly routine now. This same sudden escalation occurs either every 1, 2, or 3 years, basically. Things will blow up, people will die, the borders will be restored to their "last known best configuration" and the clock will be reset.

Is it something to be concerned about? Sure. But the bolded stuff above is a bit absurd for something that happens so frequently.

/you do live there, so I definitely get why its more hyped up for you, but as a third party on the far side of the world its not that I don't care, its that I am completely unsurprised.

This.

It's happened before. It'll happen again. Nothing of substance will actually change.

Israel left Gaza in 2005. They don't want it back. What they want is the terrorists to stop shooting missles at their people in the south. Sounds reasonable to me.

Good thing it hit the water... those rockets would probably destroy at least a few Yaffa blocks.

Yeah, this is why this is happening. Nothing to do with elections, nothing to do with stupid propaganda, everything to do with us going 'Ok, farking enough'.

ichiban: I certainly don't want these people to kill each other and wow, that's all sorts of scary, but...how do you fire 150 rockets and "only" kill three people?

We have a great advance warning system, lots of bomb shelters and anti-rocket countermeasures

This is the second time Israel has launched a Gaza war after an Obama election. I hope the women and children in the region who are about to die appreciate that it's all so the warhawks in Israel can send Barack Obama a message.

And they named the operation after a Bible verse, have no exit strategy, and won't say how this will actually solve anything. It's all so very, very George W. Bush/neo-cons circa 2003. But when has thinking with your d!cks ever gotten anyone in trouble?
