(The Register)   From the headline for this story I thought it might be a new development in the Petreaus Scandal... but it turns out it has something to do with the high-performance computing cluster challenge at SC12   (theregister.co.uk) divider line 15

I wonder what an i7's score would look like next to these numbers.

Subby is just rambling stupid shiat because he knows paid links go green.

Headline doesn't have to be smart or funny, or even related at all to the topic in the article when the green light has been bought.

here's more from the same guy (who appears to be the only person doing any sort of 'media' coverage of the event)

my son is on the Purdue team... HP was their hardware partner (not because they chose the HP hardware, but because they built a new cluster on campus this summer, using all HP hardware... so they were able to get their hands on some stuff from HP)... CPU only, no GPUs (the chinese teams are all GPU)... I think they had something like 128 nodes, 256G ram with some high speed interconnect and a 1T SSD...

ouch... subby... not bought (not necessarily funny either) but I did think there might be some fark nerds who might be interested in this competition...

You made a painfully unfunny headline featuring a political scandal that has absolutely nothing to do with anything related to the article at all in even the vaguest of ways.

You shat in your pants and now you get to sit in it for the next couple of days. Feel proud brah. Feel proud.

You know why this comment thread will be ignored? Everyone in the geek tab didn't bother to keep reading after the word "Petreaus"

wiki - flops

Most microprocessors today can do 4 FLOPs per clock cycle. Therefore a 2.5-GHz processor has a theoretical performance of 10 billion FLOPs = 10 GFLOPs.

Giga Flops = 109
Tera Flops = 1012
Peta Flops = 1015

you're right... I should have just gone with the actual article headline... that would have gone green.

Chinese baby war-boffins bust 3Tflops, snatch student LINPACK crown

if you don't like it, go threadshiat somewhere else.

Lol, I find it hard to believe why someone would go so nuts over a fark submission.

I cilcked the link and saw "Snatch" and had a laugh, knowing exactly what subby was referring to. Calm down Francis and take a nice walk outside.

Fluffy seems to fetishise dumping on headings. It's his thing. I don't think he understands what Fark is or how it functions, but has otherwise found a comfortable place to work out his fantasies so probably shouldn't be bothered.
