I did not know there were this many trains currently running in the United States.

I was SURE the Lohans had wrecked them all by now.

Well those that haven't been wrecked by them were surely running deep inside Lindsay.

I hate these farking people. A holes who just keep having more and more kids.

Meanwhile, my girlfriend is getting an abortion tomorrow. Doesn't matter that I want to keep it; she doesn't care what I think.

Unless you guys have had a long-standing agreement that you will have NO KIDS and then this happened anyway, it's probably time to break up. An abortion is a sign of the relationship going backwards, or at least, refusing to go forward. They usually don't recover from that.

--Unless, like I said, you'd already agreed many times that you would bring no kids into the world. And now you've changed your mind, but she hasn't. And that's usually a deal-breaker anyway.

Why so serious, Pony, the guy's heart is broken. And it wouldn't be the first time that a couple failed because one or both of them made "assumptions" about things that wouldn't stand the test of time. It's just as often that a woman "whoops, I'm pregnant!" and assumes that the guy will be happy about it....when she didn't really discuss it with him. (Or he didn't hear it, which is how a lot of these things go.)

Nobody wins in this scenario. That's what we get for being human beans.

Rent Party: for his sadness as she does. He should have thought of the repercussions of getting her knocked up before, you know, he got her knocked up.

Actually, the assumption HAD been that if she ever got knocked up, we would keep it.

We'd talked about it. We weren't TRYING to have a child, but decided that if she got pregnant, we could raise it well and be quite happy.

Then, it actually happened, and she panicked. Kept saying, "I'm not ready!" Scheduled an abortion the next day with, like, NO time to think it over. Nothing I had to say mattered.

To me, this all suggests a failed a relationship on both our parts, weakness on my part, and a very poor moral compass on her part.

It's a total loss.

Some things should never be left to assumptions.

Like, assuming that the decision to have kids should just be left to "whoops, did I do that?!" thinking. If you aren't trying to have kids, you should be actively trying to *not* have kids.

I would bet the discussion went "We want to have sex, but we don't want to get married, settle down or have kids" not "Yeah we want to have sex, but what if we get pregnant?"and not "Are you gonna have the baby or have an abortion?" "If you have it are you gonna keep it or am I?"

I'm getting old and I used to believe a woman could do anything with their body they wanted and I mean anything. Still do up to a point and an abortion is still ok in my book for several reasons. When there is a relationship an one wants the child then I don't think an abortion is ok. Think of it like this. What if his girlfriend wanted to keep the baby yet the OP is, will, would do anything to force her to have an abortion. This is just not cool man no matter how you map it out and I feel really bad for OP I really do. Now I have to go pick up my kids from school and that sounds really awful given the direction this thread has taken.

Men get to make all of their reproductive choices before they have sex. Every single one of 'em. Women have options after the fact. That is a function of biology and free will.

You have my sympathy. All you can do is move on, try to learn from it, and let yourself heal. Humans make mistakes, alas. You have to try to roll with the punches as best you can, and do what you have to keep your mental health. On that note, if this becomes an issue for you in the long run, talk to a professional about it. Don't let it screw you up in the long term. Try to forgive her, once you're over the worst of it. I know that probably seems impossible right now, but forgiveness isn't something you're doing for her. It's what you do for yourself to let go of the anger and move on with your life without baggage. Remember that the opposite of love is not hatred or anger, it's indifference.

So what you're saying is women can act like whores because they have the added backstop of killing a baby before it's born?

I don't care about changing the laws anymore. I figure chicks who kill babies probably shouldn't be raising them in the first place, so the unborn kid is most-likely better off dead.

Sigh.

Abortion rates in countries where abortion is illegal are comparable to countries where it is legal. What is different is that the odds of a woman dying are much, much greater. So yes, abortion is a tragedy that kills innocent precious snowflakes. But in countries where it's illegal, the same number of snowflakes die, but an extra 70,000 women each year also die. Yes, those are the actual numbers. 70,000 women die every year from unsafe abortions, which overwhelmingly (like 99.9%) occur in countries where abortion is banned or is extremely difficult to get.

In conclusion, abortions are bad, but abortions plus dead moms is worse.

2012-11-15 03:47:00 PM
doczoidberg, you got my thoughts and prayers.

This is exactly why I have my take on abortion. I don't think it should be used as birth control. I do believe it takes a helpless life. However, lets say we make her have the baby. She will not care for it properly (because she didn't want it in the first place), she wouldn't let doczoidberg care for it because she would think he's at fault, and the child would grow up to be nothing more than a drag on the public dole. Everyone one involved loses, and that would include the taxpayers too.

doczoidberg, first get rid of her. Nothing but misery will come of this relationship now.

Next, find a woman who will be responsible. Someone who thinks as a partner instead of a single.

Third, take steps yourself so this doesn't happen again. "You on the pill? Fantastic! I'm still using a condom."

This was a very hard lesson to learn, but move on and be better for it.

Peace

We make about 95 grand a year between us, and we have strong families who would help out in every way.

doczoidberg: Look, we've lived together for the past year.
We make about 95 grand a year between us, and we have strong families who would help out in every way.

It's not like it would have been a welfare baby.

The fact that she appears to feel not the slightest bit of hesitation or doubt or guilt about what she's doing makes me question who she even is as a person. For fark's sake, there's a friggin' BABY growing inside her, and she feels nothing about getting rid of it like it's just some pest.

After this, I'll never be able to think of her as anything but rotten in the core.

/Yes, I'm pro choice, but we all know that abortion is fundamentally a bad thing. Some might even say "wrong."

Dude, break up now! Even if you were 100% in favor of the abortion, you would be thinking that she did something evil and wrong.

You two are not right for each other. I'm not saying you're a bad person and I'm not saying she's a bad person. I'm saying you have very different world views which are not compatible.

doczoidberg: Rent Party: for his sadness as she does.

Dude, I understand that you're angry about this, but based on your reaction it's pretty clear she's doing the right thing.

You are not emotionally mature enough to be anywhere near a child.

I'm totally serious about this.

robohobo: I love how most of Maury's guests call him Murray. Like HE'S the one with the unpronounceable ridiculous name.

You are talking about ghetto trash that says ax instead of ask and thurr instead of there.
