C'mon subby, give these two teams a break.

Both of them are only midway through 40 year rebuilding efforts. By 2032, they will be the class of the AFC East, along with the expansion Tuscaloosa Crimsons.

Why Thursday? Why not Friday night? I understand not wanting to compete with college football Saturday, but it just seems like Friday makes more sense from a competitive - and health - standpoint.

Friday night is HS football, Saturday is college.

/HS football might not be big where you are, but it's big in a lot of places

It gets news coverage here. Scores are reported and highlights are shown. Definitely a big deal in some parts of the country.

As for tonight's game, I couldn't care less who wins it. Without much knowledge of either team, I predict the Bills will win it 24-17

My solution when faced with a mind numbingly boring game like this is to double my bet.

/money always makes these things interesting

Miami +3 and
the over 45

Part of their anti-trust exemption is that they won't play on Fridays or Saturdays so as not to directly compete with College or HS football.

As far as where the NFL sends games to die... while that was somewhat true in the past because they only did it for 7-8 weeks, so, not everyone played on Thurs, this year there are 16 Thursday night games (excluding the opening weekend game). They are doing it that way to make sure that every team plays exactly 1 Thursday game (other than the teams that play on Thurs week 1 will technically play 2, but, that week 1 game, they didn't just play on Sunday, so, doesn't really count).

Because every team has had to play on Thursday, there are certainly some clunkers, but, there have been some good ones as well:

Bears/Packers
Giants/Carolina (at least in week 3 it still was seen as a good matchup)
SF/Seattle

There were some others later in the season that pre-season seemed to be decent, but they have fizzled now.

Come on, big fantasy implications.

Well, no not really.

Before I forget:

Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills:
I don't think there's a soul left in the Bills' organization who hasn't accepted that this is a lost season, but for Miami, who entered the season with much lower expectations, 4-5 has to be a pleasant surprise. The humiliation last weekend at the hands of Tennessee was certainly not pleasant, however...but Buffalo provides a suitable bounce-back opponent, particularly when it comes to their 32nd-ranked run defense. Having a working ground game should take a good deal of pressure off of Ryan Tannebaum, and that, coupled with two or three turnovers, will be enough. 27-14

Now that I think about it- I haven't watched a Thursday game this season. Has the NFL channel got any better in its coverage? I quit watching and surprisingly enough don't miss it. I used to watch whoever was on regardless if I liked the teams.

I dont mind watching two crappy teams play each other. I especially want Miami to lose though because my father in law is Fins fan and I cant tell you how much I hate hearing about the 1972 Dolphins undefeated season. Ask that idiot to name 3 players on the team and that the answer youll get. "1972 we went undefeated you know." God fark the Dolphins. I hop they move them to LA!!!

Eh, it's not bad. It looks to be on par with ESPN's coverage.

And most weeks you're not missing anything.

I just realized that the Seahawks finally get a bye, and afterwards they get to face a team that will have had a 10-day break of their own. BOOOOOO NFL. BOOOOOOOOO.

/then again, the Jets had a bye before last week's game - didn't work out too well for 'em.

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant said he's glad his offseason arrest for domestic violence, from a legal standpoint, is over and he can concentrate now on football.

In a four-minute interview with reporters Thursday, Bryant said he feels relieved his July arrest for a domestic violence charge against his adoptive mother, Deion, was moved to conditional dismissal Wednesday.

Bryant must complete general counseling and must not be charged with any crimes for one year and have Sanders surgically removed from his rectum in order to get the domestic violence charge dropped.

I got to UW during his time there. Remember a few fellow Huskies who loved reveling in Ryan Leaf's NFL/post-NFL issues. Then they'd pretend they never heard of Jerramy Stevens.

I don't think they're defending him as much as they're saying "Solo should know better than to get involved with this guy."

Goddammit. The Bills are typically a train wreck by this point in the season, but I usually have the Sabres to turn my attention to instead. Farking lockout.

The article is from 2008. In HS, he had "several teachers and a Mormon bishop" to ask for leniency after bashing someone's face in with his foot. That was after he knocked him unconscious with a baseball bat.

Decent explanation here that was written during the lockout to answer the question "could college FB fill the looming Sunday Football void?"

Why is there no NFL on Friday or Saturdays?
