"Let's just allow everyone to keep their tax cut and we'll just close tax loopholes! It's PERFECT!"

"You mean you want to go with Romney's plan? What a shock. Okay, I'll bite. Which loopholes?"

"Oh, you know...certain ones."

"Like what?"

"Eh. There's a lot of them out there. Too many to mention right now. No one will really notice them being closed."

"Like the tax break for home owners?"

"Uh...yeah...that's one of them."

"And no one will notice that one?"

"Uh...well...lots of people are renting these days..."

"What else?"

"Uh...how about...the child tax credit?"

"You can't be serious."

I'm impressed when Obama metaphorically throws his dick on the table and says "BECAUSE, THAT'S WHY." He needs to do that more often.

I LOLed during his press conference today. Clearly one of the biggest problems we face is that he's a retard and nobody in his camp admits it. I blame Bush.

Conservatives got really mad last time Obama said he should get his way back in early 2009 because he won. Proof of arrogance and lack of bipartisanship they said.

Doubt it'll be any different this time

I am hoping that Obama closes the loopholes and raises taxes. As long as said loophole closures only affect the wealthy.

Well, I was kidding, but now that I think about it, the dick metaphor is something people go to way more often for black men as opposed to white men. It's like when someone uses the word "articulate" - they're never referring to a white person. Articulate may as well be reclassified as a racist adjective, because it's only ever used to describe a minority that seems to speak above his/her presumed station in life.

Now I have to ponder if there are other adjectives that are used almost exclusively in a racist sense, whether intentional or not.

2012-11-14 07:18:42 PM
The good thing for Republicans is that like those of you on Fark - Americans really don't know who is responsible for the budget and who can levy taxes. They will blame Obama when we fall off the "fiscal cliff."

If you think Obama is in a good spot - you're wrong. Congress has a 20% approval rating, which is to say "nothing to lose." Congress is never punished for budge issues - the president is and it's because we forget what we learned in civics class.

With that said - tax the rich - let's see what happens.

I wish they would quit calling this shiat loopholes. Letting hedge fund managers take fees as carried interest to pay at the capital gains rate, that is a loophole. Allowing you to pay into a charitable trust when that charity will never receive nearly any of the tax free principal or benefits, that is a loophole. Allowing you to transfer money between superpacs/lobbying non profits so you can make it disappear and you don't have to tell the irs where it went, that is a loophole. Somehow winding up with a 20 million ira, that is a loophole. This isn't the type of shiat they are talking about. They are talking about eliminating tax deductions that are being used exactly the way they were intended, so people would be able to raise families and buy homes etc.

We all know that Obama is a fairly ballsy guy. For example, you can't even pirate a ship on the other side of the world without getting his foot in your ass. But his politics have always been polite - to a fault. I'd like nothing more than he to use his lame duck years just not giving a f*ck. That's the man I thought I was voting for in 2008. Granted, I also thought I was voting for a liberal...

True, there always must be compromise, and that's a good thing. It's how we avoid being a nightmare of a country when opposing views are considered and appeased. But I'd really like to see a less p*ssified version of Obama this time around. Granted, it's kind of difficult when you're dealing with a House that would rather punish the country than give up any ground

Clean cut - possibly. I still use that term to describe military folks and anyone I see with a buzz cut, so it's not necessarily racial.

Uppity? Definitely. I wonder if the word even existed before the slaves were freed.

At least the "dick" thing is a compliment (still racist, but I doubt anyone cares about their dicks being rumored to match a Louisville Slugger). But you are correct in that no one ever really says "articulate" without tacitly suggesting that other members of his race are not. It's a cheap way of saying, "Wow, you aren't like all the other n**gers I know!" And yeah, it's annoying even to this white boy and his maddeningly average penis.

20% means nothing to lose? I don't think so. You started of this thread as weak as I thought possible and went on to prove you could lose even more ground.

I'll keep it simple. The GOP has two elections coming up. 2014 and 2016. Obama has none . Please proceed.

If you guys go over the Fiscal Cliff, the American public will blame Congress.

Might as well. He doesn't need to worry about reelection, so far there is no plausible candidate from the GOP for 2016, and people are concerned that there is a high chance the GOP will get the Senate in 2014.

My roommate all through four years of engineering school was a first generation Chinese immigrant who sucked at math. Even complimentary stereotypes can be damaging. He dreaded our Calc III class because the professor was Chinese and rode him harder than other students because "he should be good at it."

dickfreckle: Yeah, but "clean cut" when referencing a black dude is almost always code for, "He's not a thug."

Fair enough, but I use "clean cut" to describe people with short haircuts. I quit using articulate years ago because I realized no one uses it to describe anything except a black person who speaks well. Even my boss's boss, who is African-American, used it to describe a candidate he interviewed for a job. When I asked if she was African-American, he said yes. Then I told him I knew that because no one uses the word otherwise. It didn't exactly blow his mind, but he acknowledged I was correct - even he didn't use it outside that specific scenario.

Ironically, there has been a recent poll showing the opposite: a slight majority of Americans say the GOP will be blamed, because they're the reason the cliff exists to begin with:
