Happy belated birthday you old grub.

Have some friends who saw him and Crazy Horse on this tour. They said it was awesome. Neil Young is about as legit as you can get.

Just saw him in Vancouver on Sunday night. He played like 2 of his 5 songs. So much pointless noodling and warbling.

I think it was David Crosby who told the story of going to Neil Youngs house.
He knocked and knocked on his door. The Maid eventually let him in.Neil is nowhere
to be seen. Finally David goes over to a window only to see Neil Young running down
a hill on his property, hop over a fence and run into a forest behind his house.

Whenever I see Neils' name I envision a desheveled crazy man running into the woods.

This old guitar proclaims that Neil should never stop making music. The man is farking fantastic.

I love the fact that you just never know what Neil will do next. It may not always be my cup of tea, but it's always interesting. And I have a lot of respect for any artist who so consistently does exactly what he wants with no thought of what anyone else might think.

/Looking forward to Archives 2
//Time Fades Away? BluRay of Human Highway? Chrome Dreams? Budokan Live?
///Fingers crossed

What a great song.

Video for Horse With No Name by Neil Young

A lot of YouTube commenters seem to feel it necessary to tell everybody he was from America. I thought he was Canadian.

Neil Young is greater than Bob Dylan. Yeah, I said it.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: Neil Young is greater than Bob Dylan. Yeah, I said it.

You can say it all you want and you'll always be wrong. And I love Neil Young.

As I get older I seem to discover great old jazz artists and Neil Young albums.

You just gave the editorial board at Rolling Stone a heart attack.

/Agree with you

He's had an amazing career even when you set aside the fact he set foot on the moon.

I saw Neil Young during his Greendale Tour maybe 10 years or so ago in Tampa. It was his rock opera. I enjoyed the show, but I think a lot of folks weren't expecting it. There were many shouts of Harvest Moon, Old Man and the like. He stopped the show at one point and basically told them to STFU. He did end the show with a few of his classics.

/Lucinda Williams opened to boot
//Good show all around

I think anyone who goes to a Neil Young show and doesn't understand that there's a very good chance that you've never heard what he's been playing before that night (because it hasn't been released yet) should be tasered. In the balls.

"Better to burn out than fade away"

Somehow, he's done neither.

Neil's a better guitar player. Bob writes better songs - but then, he writes better songs than anybody.

Neil is a much better entertainer then Bob, if you overlook the Greendale Tour.

Yeah, you did and you proved that stupid people say stupid things.

As for the article I don't know which was worse:

Subby's mis-leading headline
or
seeing the reviewer fellating Neil in print.

I saw Neil and Crazy Horse at the Hollywood Bowl about a month ago and it was incredible. I'm in the part of his fanbase that loves jamming and noise and noise jams (see: Weld / Arc-Weld), not mellow acoustic ballads, so it was right up my alley. The new songs were very catchy, if a little lightweight lyrically, but after about 4 or 5 songs, the crowd there to hear Old Man and Sugar Mountain were getting restless. I wish he'd done Like A Hurricane as the encore rather than Mr. Soul but oh well....

Nah. Dylan is dead and buried. He hasn't done anything worth noting for nearly 40 years now, your fawning notwithstanding. The only people still talking about Dylan are old geezer Boomers. I mean, he's in my rotation, fine, I like him, but of the two musicians, Young has remained relevant since the grunge years gave him a kick twenty years ago and Dylan simply hasn't remained in the conversation. He's a historical artifact. Even the old stuff - as good as Dylan's best sounds, Neil's often comes off better. "Powder finger"? "Cortez the Killer"? I'll take that.

powderfinger over masters of war?
cortez the killer over tombstone blues?
not likely
you must have gotten into neil's stash. the one he gave croz last year

I just picked up Psychedelic Pill and have had it in my car player for the last two days......I like it quite a lot!

Dylan even said Neil is better (at least I think that's what he said).

Oh - and +7 for the Horse w/ no name/America trolls - well done - laughed

I saw Neil Young two years ago at Bonnaroo.

The shrooms I had eaten, mixed with the lights and overall atmosphere made it pretty much the best experience of my life. And when he sang Harvest Moon, I swore he was singing to only me, everything else disappeared.

Thank you hallucinogens!

I liked Americana.

Le Noise, not so much.

That's wild....I saw Young at Bonnaroo two years ago also and during Harvest Moon I could have sworn he was directing it at some young girl to the right of me.

Neil would tell you you're entitled to your opinion, but you're wrong.

A true artist, continuing to do whatever the hell he wants. I got a sneak peek of this tour during the Horse's appearance at the GlobalCitizen Fest. "Walk Like A Giant" was fantastic.

Let the man indulge.

/unless he goes back to singing 10 songs about makin' love to Pegi in the back of electric cars

Well, unless you were standing on my left (and you may have been, for all I know there could have been a T-Rex with Paul Ryan's head beside me and I wouldn't have been any wiser), you're sadly mistaken. He was, indeed, serenading me.

I know - but I thought it was interesting....maybe he picks out the prettiest girl he see at each show for that song.

what are you guys on about?

Comparing Neil Young and Bob Dylan is like comparing Peter Hammill to Peter Gabriel.
