4 Americans died, including a farkin' U.S. Ambassador, what exactly qualifies as a "thing"? Maybe it will go away as soon as someone provides some answers other than "it was a video".

I love how they keep saying "on 9/11". As if an attack on some God forsaken embassy inside a war torn country were somehow equivalent to the real 9/11.

What a bunch of slimeballs.

Most the Right Wing are claiming it's a scandal because Obama may or may not have had prior notice to the attack coming in a foreign country filled with people hostile to the US.

Let's use your own tactic against you:

Bush may or not have had prior notice to the Original 9/11 attack on our own freaking soil in New York City that killed THOUSANDS of Americans.

So, what price should Obama have to pay for this mistake? As soon as Bush pays for it by nearly 1,000 fold, we'll be happy to get back to you.

Before you start the 'but but but Bush' stammering, this is EXACTLY what the Right Wing does, so ante up, and we'll play this little blame game.

In Obama's Defense, we haven't invaded Algeria because the Libyans killed some of our people, so he at least has that going for him.

The killing of 241 marines in Lebanon in 1983 is a "thing". Who was held responsible for that? Where was the investigation? Why didn't Reagan listen to his secretary of defense when told *not* to station marines in Lebanon.

A thing is ignoring a report about Bin Laden attacking the US and not having a single meeting about terrorism.

A thing is trading arms to terrorists for hostages.

A thing is outing a CIA agent because she said something that embarrassed the Administration.

Being President while brave diplomats are murdered by terrorists is a thing, just not the type of thing you think it should be (i.e., it isn't a scandal or a conspiracy).

You want a scandal, find out why Obama still has Gitmo open. You might get some backers.

You could actually extend that argument back to 1997 when Bill Clinton was trying to kill Osama bin Laden. Every time Clinton launched cruise missiles at bin Laden, the GOP went apeshiat, screaming that it was distracting attention away from the oral sex.

THAT'S how the GOP feels about national security.

Wow, going way back. There was a very thorough investigation of that, members of the military are actually briefed on the situation as part of annual anti-terrorism training. Not sure if the commander was hung out to dry, and POTUS makes wrong calls in positioning troops at times, he is not psychic.

Maybe the annex that was attacked was a black detention center, the americans killed were CIA black ops, and its not in the best interests of the united states to drag that highly sensitive info into the light.

Air drop them in the country you scooped them up from with a bag of cash and a toothbrush. Heck, give the prisoners the keys to GITMO, 10 years of supplies and abandon the base.

This. With the benefit of hindsight, of course it's easy to say what certain people SHOULD have done, and no doubt mistakes were made at various levels. But to blame Obama for this, you might as well blame him for not protecting a batman premier from a lunatic with a gun. It's really the same stretch.

Oh, and just how seriously should we, the people, take the Benghazi "situation"?

Well, the same media outlets that were proclaiming a landslide victory for Mitt Romney are the ones that are trying to make Benghazi into something more than it is.

Enough said.

Have you even really read what's been released about Benghazi? It was a CIA operation with a thin veneer of State Dept. personnel involved, including the ambassador. There was a CIA response team en route within half an hour of the attack.

Any prevarication on the part of Hillary, Obama, or the CIA about the cause of the attack and the "OMG THEY SAID IT WAS A VIDOE!" garbage is readily explained by the initial fog of war and then, immediately afterwards, the CIA needing to make tidy with people on the ground in Libya so more people didn't die after we pulled out.

But don't let facts get in the way of your fevered imagination.

Of course you're confused, we beat you down with cold hard facts, showed you the dichotomy of your own faulty thinking and proved to you the absolute homerism of your party.

I believe it's been firmly established that the US consulates in Egypt and Libya were simultaneously attacked by al Qaeda. In libya the bastards killed 4 Americans. But you apparently don't give a rat's ass about who is attacking us, or whether we're going after them, or what we're doing to shore up embassy security inside a civil war. (The State department security budget was cut by the GOP House though).

All I've heard is that the Libyan embassy radioed for help, and the police couldn't get there in 5 minutes or less. That's where all the outrage lies. So let's not pretend you give a rat's ass about embassy security or the real issues being discussed by the adults in the room.
