List fails for many reasons.

First off, Sexual Chocolate Mizark was great. And his son is the best thing to happen on WWE Programming all year.

i6.photobucket.com

Papa Shango and Repo Man weren't too bad, especially considering the era they were from.

Where are New Diesel and Razor Ramon? Spirit Squad? Kerwin White? John Tenta as The Shark? Evad Sullivan? Hell, the entire Dungeon of Doom?

And finally, AJ Lee belongs on the list.

Although they were very successful and apparently quite popular, I never understood Money Incorporated: Ted Dibiase "The Million Dollar Man" (sounds kind of quaint in today's dollars) and Irwin R. Schyster.

Bringing the hard-hitting, bare-knuckled, break-bones world of corporate financing to the ring!

Some cross-over gimmicks are just too stupid for words.

The Million Dollar Man is still a viable gimmick, and one Vince would give to someone if he weren't a massive Republican shill at this point in his life. The closest he has now is Alberto Del Rio.

Yeah, the suits were hokey, but the gimmick is sound.

IRS, though... he was a pure 1990s cartoon gimmick. However, Mike Rotundo made it work because he was a decent wrestler.

As for Money Inc? Dibiase got a good run with the tag belts out of it at a time when his career was nearly done. And, they were good heels for the era.

/would have loved to have seen Dibiase go face at some point for one last run at the top, though. Someone finds out he gives to charity secretly or something, and he tries to fight it but in the end, he has to reluctantly go face to take out someone worse than he is.

I think that's 2 more moves than The Rock knows. Heh.

The other day I went back and watched Royal Rumble 2000. Two things were particularly notable.

#1. Big Show walks around for about 5 minutes very obviously semi-erect.
#2. The Rock really doesn't do much but the punch-punch-punch-spit-punch combo and his spinebuster for the entire duration.

It was also the show where Funaki was thrown over the top rope and landed on his face so hard that they had to take him to the hospital. They showed it in super-slow mo while King made racist comments.

Ah, it was a simpler time.

There was SO much to that that was awesome, especially RIGHT after the fall:

Ric Flair (quietly): "I told ya. Oh, God..."

British Bulldog: "He fell on his arse... he fell right on his feckin' arse!"

Then Sid trying his hardest to cut a yelling promo while fighting like hell to keep a straight face... oh, man. Comedy manna from heaven, man.

Don't forget about Virgil. He just stood there and did nothing. Some bodyguard...Dibiase was probably tougher than he was! Then when he broke out as his own character, he was an absolutely piss poor wrestler.

That wasn't the problem with Money Inc., the problem was more logical - a millionaire wouldn't be allies with a taxman! They'd be enemies! lol

Sure, but they'd have to make sure the taxman made clear in a promo that the Million Dollar Man is a job creator and thus shouldn't be taxed like the peons, lol. They should've made clear that IRS was a bought stooge who helped Ted DiBiase set up tax shelters and whatnot. They just didn't even address the incongruity, and if I learned anything from Vince Russo, it'd that stories should ALWAYS make sense.

Well, Dibiasi would lord his money over people - treat them badly for their relative poverty. For the young people who watched WWF at the time, that was very mean. Adding to that was how he treated kids - remember when he had a young child try to dribble a basketball a bunch of times, and when he was just about to do it, kicked the ball so he failed? Bottom line: he was a rich jerk. Every reason NOT to be a jerk, but he was.

IRS, on the other hand, was much harder. Remember, this was one of Vince's ideas. And for a millionaire like him, a tax man is a real bad guy. He also was an IRS agent - a fed. At a time when the feds were after him. It didn't work nearly as well as "Evil rich guy". Calling someone a tax cheat is not exactly the worst insult ever, hell we probably just had one run for President. That said, Mike Rutundo played the character to the hilt, and was constantly entertaining.
