I'll be having deep fried turkey for the first time this Thanksgiving. I've heard it's pretty damned tasty.

I hope Madonna tweets what I should eat for Boxing Day.

I already have three birds in my freezer and Thursday's bird ordered fresh from the farm, so I'm going to have go and give it a miss.

When I saw the headline, I thought "Jenny, this is why we need to invent a gun capable of launching people into the sun."

Then I saw TFA and said "Paul, this is why we need to invent a gun capable of launching people into the sun."

Not mine, I don't think it gets slaughtered till the a couple days before, maybe one. Not sure.

Half the fun is pointing to the live bird, personally handing down that sweet, succulent death sentence.

Sorry, humans are natural born meat eaters. A purely vegetarian diet for humans is about as healthy as a purely vegetarian diet for felines.

I disagree with vegans stand against meat. They are welcome to be vegan. I won't hassle them as long as they don't hassle me.

I actually don't like turkey, so I'm filling up on stuffing, potatoes, green beans, and HAM!!

I like variety, I'll bring a lasagna to Thanksgiving, last year I made a veal/sausage/bison lasagna. There's so much food anyway, it all gets eaten up anyway.

TEAM HAM!

I had many battles with flocks of turkeys when I was a kid. We did not win them all.

I say let the birds fry.

for every PETA or Vegan type who espouses why you shouldn't eat an animal, i will eat three.

Have any of you guys ever made a turducken? I think about it every year, but have yet to actually try one out. I can all three birds fresh from a farm, but it seems like a lot of work. Is it worth it?

2012-11-14 03:14:48 PM

Great Janitor: Sorry, humans are natural born meat eaters. A purely vegetarian diet for humans is about as healthy as a purely vegetarian diet for felines.

We're extremely fortunate to have bodies that can handle plenty of variety in the diet - meat, no meat, we have lots of healthy options available to us, and there are many "right ways" to do it. Not every species is as lucky as us to have so many eating options available.

If Paul wants to live his life as a vegetarian and advocate for less cruelty to animals, good on him. As long as he doesn't show up to my house on Thanksgiving and toss the turkey off my plate, he can say whatever he likes.

2012-11-14 03:16:45 PM
All he is saying is give peas a chance.

2012-11-14 03:19:15 PM
1) at this point they've already been slaughtered and flash frozen. There's nothing you can do about it.

2) what precisely do we do with them then? No one is going to house and feed 45 million hungry, dirty, obnoxious poultries for no profit. Release them into the wild? They're domestics, raised in sheds. They can't fly. You're just feeding coyotes.

Probably not, though that may just be a prejudice against foods with "turd" in them.

Exactly how is this different from what Paul McCartney and Peta and other vegetarian/vegan groups say every year? Oh no, let's get excited, someone doesn't like what we are eating, LOUD WORDS.

You can have the turkey though, I'd rather eat every single morsel of stuffing and then some quivering cancrancylinder jelly.

Deep fried turkey is awesome, but you have to bake a turkey at the same time to get that baked in the turkey stuffing.
It's not thanksgiving without it!

Sir Paul wants you to Jet home for thanksgiving, maybe spend the holiday at Junior's Farm, but please Live and Let Die these wondrous birds. Some of them are even Blackbirds. Turkeys travel a Long and Winding Road, both Here, There, and Everywhere. But It's Getting Better (it can't get much worse). Put on My Brave Face and stand up to the slaughter of turkeys. Vegetarianism lifestyle, all I can is, I Got To Get You Into My Life. Maybe I'm Amazed at how many people still eat turkey with so many other options. The choice is clear. It is more than just a black and white issue, it is Ebony and Ivory.

As long as they don't take away my cranberry jelly with REAL cranberry bits in it, I will not have to go on a murderous homicidal rampage. Take away my lumpy cranberry jelly or attempt to replace it with that nasty smooth stuff, and then somebody is going to have to answer for it.

/What? Too early to start the lumpy-vs-smooth cranberry thread?
